Yu Suzuki has been busy with Shenmue III for a while, but he also has a little VR shooter project he’s been working on called Versus (tentative) and talked about it at the TGS 2018 JPPVR booth. Famitsu shared some details from the event.
Yu Suzuki was offered the opportunity to be the producer of Versus by JPPVR, known for making large VR cabinets, and VRes who make their software.
A prototype of Versus was displayed at TGS 2018. The game runs on free style VR, with a headset that connects from over device attached over the player’s head. There are controllers for both hands and players get to move around in a 3D space as they shoot down opponents in VR.
“It’s truly in a prototype state where we’re exploring the things that makes the game fun,” said Yu Suzuki. “I think it would be cool to slow down time, or what we call bullet time, with plenty of shots going on in a small 3D space. I’d like to work on a concept where you dodge your way through something like that.”
Shinya Arino also made an appearance on the stage to talk about the project.
More information on Versus will be revealed at TGS 2018.
