Seaman 2, human raising simulator?

Back on the Dreamcast Sega released Seaman, a talking virtual pet. The catch with the game is that you had to play it everyday to feed and converse with your fishhead creature. Seaman 2 begins with the discovery of a Peking man in the old Soviet Union. Then players are given packages with small cavemen to raise. Seaman 2 is scheduled for a release this winter on the PS2. The game is being sold in two packages, the game alone for 6,090 yen ($52) and the game with a microphone controller for 8,190 yen ($70).

While it’s a bit disappointing it’s out for the PS2 (the machine that killed the Dreamcast), this is still quite awesome.

Here’s hoping they get Leonard Nemoy again to do the narration for the English version.

My question is, why call it Seaman 2? We all know that a Seaman was the final evolution of the creature back on Dreamcast, I don’t see why a human would be called a Seaman.
