Prettier Dynasty, prettier warriors

After playing with next-generation hardware to make Dynasty Warriors: Gundam, Omega Force finally has a ground up next generation Shin Sangoku Musou (Dynasty Warriors) game in the pipeline. New character models, more immersive environments, same button mashing combo action. Sure the screenshots are pleasing to the eye, but I hope Shin Sangoku Musou 5* has adds in something more than swimming to make it feel fresh. Online co-op play through the Playstation Network, maybe? How would you enhance the Dynasty Warriors series or is it fine the way it is?

*This will probably be renamed Dynasty Warriors 6 since the first Dynasty Warriors game was Sangoku Musou, a PS1 fighting game.

Despite the visual flair, I doubt Koei has much in stored to shake things up a bit for their latest installment in the Dynasty Warriors series. Co-op, especially online, would go a long way toward rejuvenating some life into this tired franchise, as honestly I don’t know what else they could possibly do to spring some life into Dynasty Warriors 6.

Really, the lack of interest in DW titles for most gamers such as myself stem from the multitude of sequels and spin-offs Koei has released over the years with no remorse concerning how little the series has changed after each and every installment.

yeah, unfortunately there’s only so much hack & slash one can take… Dynasty Warrior Gundam feels fresh because of the mobile suits rather than human characters, like Ninety-Nine nights, which got old fast despite the beefed up 360 graphics. I guess other than online play, it’s got to have a good storyline, like Drakengard (I couldn’t stop playing to find out what happened even though it was repetitive), alas this is still about the 3 kingdoms.

Still, I must say the graphics look very sweet, the generals and officers have never looked as cool, not to mention the unbelievable cutscenes.
