Way of the Samurai ported to the PSP

wayp.jpgSpike is pushing the Way of the Samurai series by remaking the original for the PSP. Justin Bailey alerted me to this last week (thanks!!) and Spike has an official page confirming Way of the Samurai Portable exists. Week-old Famitsu scans reveal this is a port with added Way of the Samurai 3 characters and ad hoc play. Just like Way of the Samurai 3, Way of the Samurai Portable is scheduled to come out this fall in Japan.

What isn't clear is if Acquire, the usual developer of the Way of the Samurai games, is handling the work or if another company like Tose is working on the port. Considering Acquire is busy working on Tenchu 4, Way of the Samurai 3, and the upcoming Ken To Mahou To Gakuen Mono it might be in the hands of another party.

No US publisher has been announced at this time, but both Way of the Samurai games are likely candidates for an international release.

Even though I know I’m going to pick it up if it hits the US, but I hope it includes some extras and isn’t a straight port.
