Earlier this month Capcom was kicking around the name Monster Hunter Unite with a survey and talk about world play via a PlayStation 3 to PSP connection. Just this week Capcom trademarked the name Monster Hunter Freedom Unite in the US Patent and Trademark database. Hmm… could Capcom be working on a new Monster Hunter game for North America? Of course they are. Monster Hunter is a huge franchise for Capcom even though it hasn’t had the same critical reception outside of Japan and they have no plans to give up on it in the West.
So what is Monster Hunter Freedom Unite? A localized version of Monster Hunter 2G Portable? An enhanced version of Monster Hunter 2G Portable for North America with worldwide play in the comfort of your own home? Something completely new? Your guess is as good as mine.
