No Ad-Hoc Partying Until Early November

Sony is delaying the launch of Ad-Hoc Party Beta Version. Instead of coming out on October 30 the Ad-Hoc Party Beta Version will come out in the “beginning of November”. This service will connect players with ad hoc PSP game like Monster Hunter Freedom Unite to far away players via a PlayStation 3. You need to have both a PSP and PlayStation 3 to take advantage of Ad-hoc Party. If you have a PlayStation 3 Bluetooth headset you can use voice chat too, a necessary feature for transient Monster Hunters.

When the Ad-Hoc Party service goes live in Japan it will only support Monster Hunter Portable 2G aka the Japanese version of Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. In the future other games like Phantasy Star Portable will work with the service, but Sony hasn’t set a date for any future titles. Ad-Hoc Party isn’t planned to launch US this year, but you should be able to download it for free with a Japanese PlayStation account. However, you won’t be able to use it unless you have a copy of Monster Hunter Freedom 2G handy.
