La Pucelle: Ragnarok Trailer Looks Familiar

By Spencer . September 3, 2009 . 1:26pm

Nippon Ichi continues their series of enhanced ports with La Pucelle: Ragnarok which features new episode with Demon Lord Prier and Disgaea characters as extra bosses.

But, you won’t see much of that in this trailer, which introduces the characters (again) and notes enhancements over the PlayStation 2 release.

Did you notice anything strange at the end of the movie? No, not the artbook and soundtrack bundled with the limited edition. Look at the credit screen. La Pucelle: Ragnarok is rated CERO C. Think of that as something close to a T rating from the ESRB. La Pucelle: Tactics has an all ages rating, which is equivalent to an E for everyone by the ESRB. That’s a pretty big change, especially since most of Nippon Ichi’s games carry all ages ratings in Japan.

I wonder what Nippon Ichi added…

  • What they added?

Laharl and Priere boobs…well…moreso showy in demon form.

  • RyuRyuRan

Still can’t wait for NISA to localize this! ^_^

  • This is actually one of their (…should I say our…? Feels a little awkward) games I missed out on initially. It’ll be something I’ll look forward to, but at the poor rate I get through handheld games, I don’t think I’ll mind if it waits a while, either.

  • I love La Pucelle! :D I’m very glad they decided to use the old art and not use the same artist to redraw everything like Rhapsody DS.

Though the new cover/promo art looks different from the original artist’s work. Does anyone know if it’s the same artist that did it or not?

    • It is indeed. His art style has just changed a bit since the original release, it seems.

      • Ah, okay. I thought it looked similar, but sort of different (just not as a drastic difference between Little Princess 1 and Rhapsody DS hehe).

That makes me happy then. I was worried NIS threw him to the wayside, or he died, or retired from drawing, but luckily that isn’t the case I guess :D.

If you didn’t already notice, I love his art btw ;) Between Yoshiharu Nomura’s art and Tenpei Sato’s music, it’s just a wonderful blend. They just go so well together.

        • The art looks different, but I suppose that’s expected when you haven’t drawn the characters in some years.
I’ve always known the artist as Ryoji, or 野村良治, since his last name seems to be mixed up sometimes when translated to English.
He’s done a few self published works since his last project with NIS. He’s been doing mostly doujin artbooks (which are fantastic to have! I have a few and a CD of his illustrations that he loves to publish). Sadly, he hasn’t been active as far as being involved in games or even manga series.
I was irked when he wasn’t brought back for Rhapsody DS, but I hope this La Pucelle port gives him the opportunity for more work as he really is a talented artist.

  • BK0000

Demon Prier’s outfit probably helped get a higher rating for the game.

  • Ereek

Demon Prier was originally just a reskinned La Pucelle succubus when you cleared the Demon prerequisites. I doubt it’s just the addition of more scenes with that in it.

  • Pichi

Maybe the times have changed rather than the new stuff? Okay back then, but not now? Could be a possibility.

  • You know if you’re not careful you’d almost identify the Priere sprite halfway through as Angelique.

Had to be careful I didn’t sh*t myself over that.
