You’ve seen the new Bahamut and Sazh’s eidolon meets hot rod, Brynhildr. Now see them and a scene with Oerba Yun Fang with English text.

 

Always good to know that Final Fantasy XIII’s localization is progressing. Now if we just had a date beyond a vague spring 2010 window…

      Yeah, that’s not gonna happen, because it would “cut into foreign sales”. Not really digging the Japanese voice work for this game anyway.

        From the little I’ve heard of the Eng dub, it’s not bad, but Vanille’s fake-cent is quite annoying, if they’re doing accents I wish they would do it like FFXII.. Overall I definitely prefer the Jpn cast at this point, so I think this would be the most worthwhile import since the US version would only have the Eng. dub. If I remember correctly I think Vaan’s Jpn voice had lisp or some kind of speech impediment that you can’t even follow what he’s saying, I know it’s not something to be made fun of, but you would think they would’ve picked someone better for the “main character”..I doubt there would be Eng sub in the Jpn ver as well. However, Lost Odyssey actually had both the Jpn and Eng dub when it was released in Jpn two months prior to the US release, but it only had Jpn subtitles. Not everyone is as generous as Mistwalker though when it comes to dual(or multi) tracks for RPGs.

    Fang is so badass! She’s my new favorite… Kinda like a female version of Khamari! Ahhh… I hope they have Blue magic in XIII.

      Looks like no. I was sure it was Ifrit, too lol…

      Quick Wiki search shows that Brynhildr is a valkyrie from Norse mythology.

        I assumed it was Ifrit at first because of the fire attacks and since Snow has Shiva, it’s natural Sazh would have Ifrit, so I guess we still have the Ifrit robot to look forward to, if it’s indeed used in the game.

          I kinda doubt they will. How many more playable characters will they add? I think they’re trying to mix things up by replacing Ifrit with a new esper/summon/eidolon/thing.

            I think originally they wanted to make that Ifrit. Look at this early concept art of Ifrit for XIII.

            Now I know everyone has probably already seen this, the point being that his horns looks very similar to Brynhildr. So what I’m thinking is they just replaced him/changed his name… Which doesn’t make sense, why not Ifrit if they have Shiva?

            Although, Shiva went under a huge design change. Even her name is different. (Shiva Nix and Shiva Styria)

            So yeah, I guess they felt Ifrit needed something more. Which makes me wonder… Has Bahamut been ‘confirmed’ as Bahamut? ‘Cause he looks a really different now.

    Sweet screen shots. A high quality TGS 09 trailer in English is up on PSN too. I wonder if they would try to match the lip movement in the pre-rendered CG scenes later too, so far they are only made to match the real-time cutscenes in both Jpn & Eng. version.

    I could see Fang being my favorite alrdy (or that other sexy lady in glasses from Sanctum :). I’m still wondering what’s the relationship between Vanille (Oerba dia Vanille) and Fang (Oerba Yun Fang), guess they’re from the same tribe in Pulse or something w/ their more exotic clothing.

    I haven’t looked forward to a new FF in so long..

      Same here. The last numbered FF I looked forward to was X. I also haven’t looked forward to an rpg like this in a really long while.

    Am I just seeing what I want to see or is Spencer alluding to a possible announcement soon? I’m probably just reading into it too much :P.

      Square Enix’s CEO has said they’re aiming for a spring 2010 release window, but that hasn’t shown up on any press releases. Don’t get your hopes up too much :)
