Dead or Alive: Paradise Bounces On To PSP

By Spencer . December 15, 2009 . 9:56pm

imageFinally, the girls from Dead or Alive can go on vacation with you. Dead or Alive: Paradise is essentially a portable version of Dead or Alive Xtreme.

As seen in this week’s issue of Famitsu, the heroines from Dead or Alive are on the beach (again) playing volleyball and jumping on inflatable pool toys. Who can drool over? Ayame, Kokoro, Kasumi, Hitomi, Lei Fang, Helena, Lisa, Christie, Tina, and Rio.

No, Rio isn’t a Dead or Alive character. She’s a top heavy gambling icon seen in pachinko parlors and an iPhone blackjack game developed by Tecmo. In Dead or Alive: Paradise, Rio makes a cameo as the casino blackjack dealer.

Like the Dead or Alive Xtreme titles, the goal of the game is to take photos and build relationships with the girls by giving them presents. The game is set for release on April 2, 2010 in Japan.

    Oh, Japan.

I’m baffled at how you’re supposed to play the game. At least on the XBox game, you could put the controller down. With this, you’d have to prop it up somehow.

    • Hraesvelgr

I see what you did there.

  • nyoron

I don’t know what they did to the volleyball mechanics in DOAX2 but I hated that game so much. I loved the original DOAX, I hope this is more like that.

Actually, screw it, where is DOA 5?

    • Strike_Man

You probably won’t have to worry then, since there is no volleyball to be had here, as far as I can tell.

      • nyoron

Huh? The full scan shows a screenshot of Hitomi playing volleyball, and the above news post mentions it also…

(Unless you’re being sarcastic or something, in which case nevermind)

        • Strike_Man

          *shrug*

Some of the sites were reporting that DOA: Paradise (at least on the cell phone) didn’t involve volleyball play, simply the dating sim, mini-game, and casino sections.

It’s certainly possible that the volleyball scenes are simply non-interactive.

          • nyoron

OK fair enough. I can see it for a cell phone game but it seems unbelievable to me that they’d take volleyball out of the PSP version. You’d be left with just an incredibly simple dating sim and a casino that cheats like crazy. Oh, and pool hopping.

            We’ll see I guess.

The scan do mention about playing volley ball with your favorite girl. I think because of the game is similiar to the cellphone game with almost same title (except that had a Melody Mark), everyone assume this is the port from the cellphone game, while this game is compilation of sports and mini game (volley ball included), like in Xtreme.

Just want to clarify, the PSP version has three playable games: beach volleyball, inflatable pool toy hopping, and casino.

Yeah, I felt the same well as you, the first DOAX was actually a ton of fun, the volleyball matches were very addicting and I played the heck out of that game (bought so many outfits haha), but was disappointed w/ DOAX2, not to mention the crazy and offputting bouncy physics :(..

  • Kris

    I’d much prefer a DOA 5, thanks.

  • JeremyR

I really hope this actually is a port of the original Xbox game. That was actually a lot of fun. As someone else mentioned, they really ruined the volleyball in the sequel on the 360 (though the water ski game was fun).

  • malek86

Weeeell, I might have to get this. Hopefully it will be like the first one.
