Record of Agarest War Trailer Spices Up Strategy RPGs

By Spencer . January 3, 2010 . 2:50pm

With tongue firmly in cheek, Aksys flaunted the innuendo in Record of Agarest War. This has to be one of the funniest RPG trailers in years and perhaps one video that could draw strange stares if you view it at work. Watch this video at home, folks.

Thanks for the video link Matty!

For those of you who haven’t gotten the game yet:

There isn’t hentai in it. The censoring shown in the trailer is actually completely unnecessary and is there for marketing purposes only. Don’t get your hopes up if that’s what you’re looking for.

    • Seconded! The censoring is really just a joke. As Ereek notes, don’t expect anything more than innuendo since this is a CERO D/M game.

      Thanks for clarifying this!

  • Lol i was wondering when this would come here, yeah this doesnt have any hentai on it xD, the censor is just to make it funnier as well

  • Kris

Well, that’s one way to market a game!
I wonder how much the download will cost, though…

  • Joanna

4-17 is mildly disappointing. I guess it is coming to the 360 as well in the US going by the tags at the end there. Is the PS3 version confirmed to have the added content the 360 version got in Japan?

    • Ereek

Yes, both the North American PS3 and 360 version are the Reappearance version. Honestly, though, there’s not really a lot of extra content.

    lol funny trailer…

  • 70s porno guitar is EPIC porno guitar.

  • Now that the trailers have been pouring in, I’d gotten curious and found they had released this in the UK in October. I wanted to splurge my Christmas cash on it, but couldn’t find it on store shelves at GAME, HMV, or these two gaming shops over near the Galleries. So, I’ve ordered it online. Should be in tomorrow. Can’t wait to see what all the hoo-ha is about.

    • I heard, that the UK version is badly localised with lots of spelling errors and weird sounding script… I’m not sure if the US version has that stuff fixed tho.

      • Aw fudge, looks like Lux-Pain all over again. Well, I was still addicted to that game, even with as horribly unintelligible as it could get at times, so I have a feeling I’ll be able to slog through this one as well. But thanks for the warning, at least I’m forewarned. I just can’t stand to spend any more importing.I bought the special collector’s edition one, so I can at least console myself with its pretty pictures, lol.

A bit late, but the PAL version definitely is rather low quality. After a point the localization spikes downward and it seems like there was little to no proofreading at all.

Agarest is enjoyable, but the localization does take away from an interesting story and characters. The problem is, it’s not a localization, it’s a translation, so many phrases sound off or odd. Aksys is retranslating/localizing it, so their version is likely better.

          • Well, I’ve gotten the game from GAME, and I met my first ‘wabe’ of weird translation/dialogue. Ah well… once again, it’s just easier to deal with than having to import all over again. There’s few games I’m willing to have to deal with importing, and they better be darn special when I do. Considering I’m just diving into Agarest out of curiosity, I’ll save on the importing hassle for another awesome game.

            But definitely appreciate the warnings.
