Give Haseo An Afro In .hack//Link

By Spencer . February 26, 2010 . 1:50am

An afro is just one of the ridiculous accessories you can equip .hack characters with in .hack//Link. Screenshots list other items like a wild guitar, master drum, and “king of flower.”

Haseo and Ovan have crossover costumes too. Both characters have Tales of Graces outfits that change them into Malik Caesars and Asbel Lhat, respectively. These items are unlocked by using a code on the back from the back of the .hack//Dramatic DVD, a bonus item for pre-orderers.

.hack//Link is right around the corner. Namco Bandai will release it in Japan next week on March 4.

I hope this will eventually come stateside. There is too much fanservice for even me to resist. Even though I don’t really care about the second half of the project (basically the G.U. stuff), the first half was pretty cool.

    • Hraesvelgr

Really? I thought G.U. was a massive overall improvement over the original four games in basically every regard, even if the story was pretty much the exact same thing (granted, that can be said about pretty much every .hack storyline).

Think the only things I didn’t like over the original were the silly “battle fields” that you couldn’t run away from without an item or the fact that anything like 4+ levels over you did MASSIVE DAMAGE (and vice versa). Oh yeah, and the fact that those dumb “PvP” tournaments were part of the main story in each of the three games. But outside of that…

      • malek86

I was mainly speaking about the Roots anime. I haven’t played the G.U. games, since they never arrived in Europe (probably due to poor sales of the original quadrilogy).

        • too bad, G.U. was great!

        • T____T yes i never played them too , i have all original 4 for PS2 , but GU and Grandia 3 never were released here (portugal) so i dont have them , ofc i could play imported but i dont like the swaping card i feel like im damaging my poor Ps2 XD «« anywayyyyy im getting this traslated or not :P but since its for PSP im sure sooner of later we will get it ^^ !

          • Hraesvelgr

Don’t worry, you didn’t miss anything by not playing Grandia III.

        • Hraesvelgr

Oh. Now that you mention it, that’s right, they didn’t release those in Europe. Well, Roots is only decent (wouldn’t say it’s good or great) if you play the games, too, since it directly ties into them, unlike the previous anime, which was more stand alone. Seemed like the animation was worse too, even for Bee Train.

  • Hraesvelgr

…man, I wish they would’ve done something better than .hack//Link for a new .hack game. Disappointing as hell.

    • how you know is dissapointing, we barely know how everything works, or the story, i played the demo and it was kinds repetitive, but thats not all hack games can offer, and i imagine there are more skills and abilities

      • Hraesvelgr

It’s based off of the manga, which sucks imo.

        • Well you said it, in your opinion =P

    • Pesmerga00

Yeah. Especially since they say this is the last game. A crossover mashup, on a portable is kinda lame, especially for a finale.

  • rofl i love hack games

  • kupomogli

This is Namco Bandai we’re talking about. There’s a very high chance we won’t see this one stateside.

I’m waiting for Tales of VS, Tales of the World Radiant Mythology 2, and then only after those, Tales of Vesperia to get a translation above anything else the company has to offer.

I hate Namco as a company. Atleast Bandai before merging with Namco we got a lot of good Gundam games released for PSX and PS2. After the merger the only real Gundam we got, and a very bad game, was Gundam Crossfire. Gundam Musou is another mistake, but that hardly accounts as a “real Gundam game.”

    • Hraesvelgr

Tales of Graces or another unreleased mothership title would be preferred over those. For me, anyway.

    • malek86

Now that you mention it… yeah, this is Namco after all. I know for sure it won’t come to Europe, since we didn’t even get the GU ones. And I don’t know how successful the .hack series was in the US. What if they don’t see it fit for release?

Oh well. I hear the manga sucks, so I don’t care about the story. This is basically one giant fanservice game anyway. I might just import the japanese version and get it over with.

  • evilmoogle

Nobody mentions that, Abel(haseo) and malik(ovan) are voiced by the same voice actors.
Now i want to see atoli in a saber costume.
