Mindjack, Square Enix’s Third Person Shooter, Is Set For October

NERKAS Campus A 1Square Enix, publisher of Call of Duty: Black Ops in Japan, has been quietly working on their own third person shooter called Mindjack. What separates this game from the plethora of third person shooters on the market is “mind hacking”. Similar to The 3rd Birthday, players jump from one mind and body to the next. Think “Invasion of the Body Snatchers” made into a third person shooter, that about sums up the concept of Mindjack.

Here’s how Square Enix explains the story.

A new era. Sophisticated and complex technologies are now contributing to the advancements of mankind. However, the world’s governments are crumbling, new corrupt powers arise and conspiracies proliferate. The truth behind the proscribed technology could destroy the very core of humanity. Join a rogue team of agents as they fight for survival and entangle themselves deeper into the mystery.

Mindjack offers a unique online experience. Enter a revolutionary playing field upon which an engaging solo campaign transitions seamlessly to thrilling cooperative play. Expand your mind’s reach by “hacking” into enemies, vehicles or civilians and enjoy the freedom to control almost any character. Each bystander becomes an active combatant in this new urban warfare.

Your “state of mind” is your only limitation!

Deteriorating political systems don’t really explain this screenshot of a man-beast NERKAS soldier.

We’ll have to wait for Feelplus, the developers of Lost Odyssey and N3 II: Ninety-Nine Nights, to finish their work to find out what’s going on. Mindjack is slated for release in North America this October.

    looks ok

  • FireCouch

Those 3 screenshots don’t make it look interesting at all. But who the hell knows what it will be like. I’m sure it will turn out just fine.

Personally, I prefer the whole freeze-time-then-get-inside-someone else’s-car action of the upcoming Driver game.

I mean, that’s some REAL Matrix Agent-Smith creepy action right there.

  • DemonicX

    It looks alright.

I’ll probably buy it at a later date, though.

Oh, I actually kind of like Feelplus, but I’m not so sure about this game. Seems like a bad time to release it, too, since there are a number of big name games being released around that time of year.

GO-REEEE-LA!!!! That man-beats looks entirely like a cybernetic gorilla. Gorilla Grodd take pointers.

I saw the gameplay. Multiplayer should be pretty interesting in terms of randomly mindjacking into civilians as opposed to average TPS gameplay

Mindjack reminds me a little of Ghost in the Shell. This is high on my must play list.
