Aksys Picks Up Two More PSP Games

By Spencer . June 25, 2010 . 10:55am

imageRemember how we said Gladiator Begins was coming to North America in March? Now we know Aksys got Acquire’s game. Gamefly leaked this pending announcement too, sorry Aksys.

In Japan, Gladiator Begins had a racy marketing campaign in Japan with a slave girl who visited various magazines. Color us curious about Aksys promotional plans and Anime Expo presentation.

Even more surprising is Blazing Souls: Accelate. Idea Factory ported this PlayStation 2 strategy RPG to PSP last year. Aksys apparently picked up the PSP version since it is also in Gamefly’s database.

I enjoyed Colosseum: Road to Freedom on PS2 so I’ll probably check out Gladiator Begins.

Well, I would have preferred Absolute Blazing Infinity for the Xbox 360, just so that it could be released here on a console, but I’ll gladly take the latest version of Blazing Souls, as I’ve wanted to play that game for a long time.

Great to see that these little known PSP games are being brought over– it makes me hopeful that we’ll see Zettai Zetsumei Toshi 3 (Disaster Report 3) localized for NA as well. Aksys, if you’re reading this…!

I was holding out buying a PSP until TGS/Gamescom incase of a possible unveiling of PSP2. With announcements like this and a big helping of Ys this fall, it’s becoming harder to resist.

I don’t think your going to see a PSP2 at TGS or Gamescom this year. Also even if it were true, what makes you so sure that PSP2 would be backwards compatible with PSP? That would mean using the same UMD discs for the next PSP and with that already hacked I think Sony will be looking in to another form of media or a complete UMD revision. Honestly if you want games for the PSP just buy one and by the time your done with those the PSP2 will have a larger/better library to choose from. Console launched are usually quite dry (the DS’s nearly made me sell the system).
