Capcom’s Yoshinori Ono Teases Upcoming Announcement Again

By Ishaan . July 23, 2010 . 9:30am

In the weeks leading up to the San Diego Comic Con, Capcom’s various branches in Japan, the U.S. and Europe teased not one, but two significant announcements from company staff at various panels throughout the event.

Last night, when Capcom R&D chief, Keiji Inafune, took the stage to talk about the company’s upcoming massively-multiplayer project, Mega Man Universe, it was a little unclear as to whether this was one of Capcom’s two big “reveals”, considering the game was announced well before Inafune’s panel at Comic-Con.

Meanwhile, Street Fighter IV producer, Yoshinori Ono’s own announcements are scheduled for reveal this Saturday at a Super Street Fighter IV panel. In this regard, many believe that Capcom are working in collaboration with Namco Bandai on a Namco vs. Capcom project, of which Ono is the producer at the Capcom end.

While he obviously couldn’t provide details, Ono once again fired up Twitter earlier today, to engage the attention of his fans briefly, and say a few last things about his upcoming announcement. Ono wrote:

“I’ve been hearing of many rumours brewing up this week. Having said that, I have been tweeting to say I will announce something new. I don’t know if this ‘something’ is what the rumour says or what you had in mind. I’m only sure of one thing. We will not disappoint.

Be at San Diego Comic-con Room 25 ABC on Saturday at noon. I’m not only announcing one new ‘something’. Nor just two. But I would like to talk about a few of our recent endeavours. You are free to record, video, photograph and everything else to capture this moment. I hope that would help you all to discuss about it. I hope that would help you all to discuss about it.”

While the wording is a little vague in places, you have to admit, the “I don’t know if this ‘something’ is what the rumour says” and “Nor just two” sound rather telling. Assuming Mega Man Universe was Inafune’s big reveal, this other project could potentially be Namco vs. Capcom.

And of course, there’s also that matter of new Super Street Fighter IV characters…

I still want that Kelloggs vs. Capcom.

    • Seriously. I’ve always wanted to lay a beatdown on Tony the Tiger and his sugary cereal. And don’t get me started on Toucan Sam.

      • raymk

Your wrong its all about captain crunch and the crunch attack. Don’t get me started on the honey bee from cheerios.

        • The honey bee would probably be god tier

    “Namco vs. Capcom “?

Awesome! Lloyd Irving vs Dante is a fight I thought I’d never see..

    • It sounds more like a Tekken vs Street Fighter thing. Both companies are rumored to be working on their own versions of the game, Capcom with the SF4 engine and Namco with the Tekken 6 engine.

    • Oh yeah….there were rumors about Capcom trying to revive the Breath of Fire series again huh. Welp This too is a good guess.

    • holyPaladin

      Agree with you 100% ^^

  • Anything other than a new Darkstalkers would count as a disappointment to me.

  • rival schools 3. i wanna know wut happened to kyosuke

    • Shane You and I both. Capcom is dead wrong for never reviving this series. All the awesome characters. at least two of them shouldve made it to Marvel vs Capcom 3. Batsu, Shoma, Kyosuke, Hyo, Roberto, Edge, Daigo, Akira, Hideo, Roy. Take your damn Pick CAPCOM!
