Adol Is Too Tough For Healing Herbs

By Spencer . July 25, 2010 . 4:55pm

image Potions, tonics, herbs, and cure scrolls – forget about stocking up on those in Ys: The Oath in Felghana. While Adol could carry one healing herb and had a heal ring in Ys III, he’ll have to fight without a stash of healing items in Ys: The Oath in Felghana.

Enemies drop recovery items that refill Adol’s HP on the spot. These make dungeons easier, but Adol will have to defeat bosses with, in a best case scenario, a single life bar. A representative from Xseed assured players won’t have to replay an entire dungeon if they die at a boss. Checkpoints are plentiful, but you still need to learn the pattern of each boss instead of loading up on healing herbs.

Ys: The Oath in Felghana is scheduled to come out in North America this year.

My PSP is going to be very happy these next few months. There’s so much coming out!

Seems like old news to me.

You call that ‘olds’ for short…

    • Fake Siliconera poster alert! Get out of here, please.

  • I was surprised how well this system worked when I tested Oath in Felghana out at E3.

I have Adol as my Warrior class in Dragon Quest 9. Maybe that’s why Dragon Quest 9 seems like easy mode.

I’m gonna need a bigger Memory Stick.

  • Better than constantly hammering the potion hotkey in Diablo.

    • This also forces the staff to design boss fights in a more oldschool way. A big plus in my book.

I wonder if the game will be too hard for me… On that shitty PSP “nub” too…

I had to quit Napishtim PSP because I was stuck on some flying boss. I couldn’t land a single blow on him, because he was flying (duh!), and he kept spamming area attacks. God, I hated that game!

Maybe Ys games are not for me after all. Sorry, XSEED. :(
