Scenes From The Next Tales Of Game

By Spencer . August 17, 2010 . 11:37am

We don’t have a release date or a title, but we have larger illustrations of the upcoming Tales game. Next Tales Of, as it’s being called in Japan, has a different art style than previous games.

Compared to Tales of Vesperia, it looks less like a playable anime and feels darker. The only character Namco Bandai revealed is pictured above with a somber (or puzzled – like why are you looking at me?) countenance.

  • goronyan

    loli heroine for god’s sake

    • Guest

      • goronyan

oh yeah i forgot if they do it we’ll certanly never see it in the west D:sorry(omfg i’m giving ideas to bamco)

        • Actually..even WITHOUT the loli protagonist, we probably won’t see this one in the west, heh.

    • mm… i wont say “yes” but i wont say “no” either lol~

    • thebanditking

      Umm yuck…..

    • Hraesvelgr

More like no loli in the game, for god’s sake. The child character often ends up being the least interesting of the group. I’d prefer that they stick with interesting leads, thanks.

      • Hey, Anise is hilarious!

        • No, just annoying imo.

          • You never played Abyss with friends and joked about Anise being a futa…

          • Not really. Anise was the completely unsused character in my playthrough anyways, so the only time you’d see her was during cutscenes. Same goes for Natalia btw ^-^;;

  • The dude in the first picture looks like Ginko, from “Mushishi” the anime

    • now that u mention it! >_>”

    • Mischah

Oh god I love that manga.
      Tales of Mushi anyone?

    • That was my first thought! Glad I’m not the only one…

    • Joanna

yeah I was thinking the same!!!
Even the art feels a bit like Mushishi, at least the manga covers~

  • nyoron

Do we know if it’s a Team Symphonia game? I love Team Symphonia.

looks less like a playable anime and feels darker
    perfect for the west amirite

    • goronyan

yeah they just need to create a macho protagonist with silver hair to be able to release it here, amirite?

      • nyoron

Crank up the gore, add an online deathmatch mode… it just might work.

        • thebanditking

Don’t forget: it will need guns, Space setting, some kind of army conspiracy, dialog trees, guns, and a rappers likeness in the game, did I mention guns….lol j/k

          • goronyan

when they started to hate us?

          • thebanditking

Who Namco? They don’t hate anyone, they just hate money.

          • M’iau M’iaut

And some horrid looking whores for you to kill and get yo money back from.

          • Joanna

This whole string of comments was golden. I lol’d.

        • [The Hunter] Doomrider

  • lostinblue

Ohhh namco, when are you going to learn to NOT HYPE your next game before your current endeavour doesn’t ship?

    • Tales of Graces F will still sell more than the Wii version.

      • lostinblue

You brought that up, you figure it out. Because in case you noticed that wasn’t my point and no, I won’t derail into discussing it. On top of it, too, I don’t practice futurology nor do I throw cheap blows on people that get on my nerves whenever I can.

Plus, I don’t feel like talking platform stuff with you of all people; specially when it’s uncalled for.

  • DlanorKnox

So depressing to see this and know it won’t get released here. :(

  • I want to dedicate this chorus to Namco Bandai, in regards to Tales:

“I don’t want to wait for our lives to be over
I want to know right now, ‘What will it be?’
I don’t want to wait for our lives to be over
So will it be ‘Yes’ or will it be… ‘Sorry’?”

–Paula Cole, “I Don’t Want to Wait”

    • kupomogli

Sorry. You know they’re 9000 times busier with Dragon Ball. Raging Blast 2 and Tenkaichi Tag Team comes out in October if you’re interested, though.

  • puchinri

Guy in first scene does look like Ginko…
But those other scenes look less and less like a Tales game.
But in a way, it reminds me of some of the older Tales games.
I do like the look of it though.

And of course, probably have to import because we’ll never see it here most likely. Or maybe XSEED can get a hold of it if they can’t get Graces. But perhaps that’s too wishful.

  • Exkaiser

I like the feel of the pieces. I hope it translates into the in-game art- I’ve gotten a little sick of the Tales series’ candy-coating recently.

    • I’ve always thought of it as one of it’s charms actually. It definitely sets the series apart.

  • Who know we might get it. We recieved Deathsmile that had nothin but lolis in it.???

  • I’m wondering if they’ll mimic No More Heroes 2’s graphics approach with this. If I recall from screen shots, NMH: Hero’s Paradise does the same thing as NMH2.

  • MrRobbyM

I’ definitely liking the new art style. Had a more mature, darker feel to it. *whispers* hopefully it gets localized hehehe

  • Joanna

Oh wow, the concept art has me intrigued. I’m trying not to get excited because this probably won’t make it over.

  • The art style looks gorgeous! I hope the actual game looks as fantastic. But I was already really impressed with the quality of the graphics of Tales of Graces despite it being on the Wii, so I’m sure they can do even better with the PS3. :D
