The Little Battlers Still On Track For Release This Year

imageLevel 5’s Tokyo Game Show booth is loaded with new franchises such as Ni no Kuni and The Little Battlers (aka Danball Senki) while core Level 5 series aren’t on the list yet. The publisher still has one secret title to announce. Which will it be Professor Layton or Inazuma Eleven?

Here’s what attendees can play at Level 5’s booth.

Ni no Kuni: The Jet Black Wizard (DS)
Ni no Kuni: Queen of the Holy White Ash (PS3)
The Little Battlers (PSP)
Mystery Room (DS)
Ni no Kuni: Hotroit Stories (Mobile)
Cabaret Girls (Mobile)

Level 5’s page also pegs The Little Battlers for release this year along with Mystery Room which made an appearance at Tokyo Game Show last year. Fantasy Life, a Nintendo DS RPG in development with Brownie Brown, is notably absent.

A hat tip to Cevian W. for the tip!

  • Of all their games I want The Little Battlers, it looks fun and such.

  • urbanscholar

This game is like Medabots done right, definitely looking out for the gameplay videos.

    • Exkaiser

      Medarot was already done right.

  • SlashZaku

Really been waiting for this game and glad we’re about to get more news about it.

  • Shadow_Raskolnik

Personally I still think that Level 5 should have kept Ushiro and dumped this one. Ushiro sounded and looked interesting and had a more mature vibe to it than the one found in this game.

Ah well, I’ll probably look into this one and see how it is when more info is released.

    • godmars

Heard that Ushiro was just in dev-hell. Where’d you hear that its canceled?

    • SlashZaku

Dump this one? Why? I don’t see a reason why they couldn’t have done both :|

    • Ushiro […] had a more mature vibe to it than the one found in this game.

And that’s probably why this one’s coming out and Ushiro isn’t…as far as we know. Danball Senki is squarely aimed at the huge audience of kids who eat up Pokémon-style collectathon/battling games. Ushiro was a much riskier bet.

(…Still vainly hoping Ushiro will be that “secret” title, though.)

  • Dark Cloud 3, hello?

    • jarrodand

Wouldn’t be at Level-5’s booth anyway. If Sony would want to do it, I’m sure Level-5 would too…

      • i cant help but think level-5 was asked (or asked to) make DQ8 using dark cloud 2 as base and example as the graphics they are capable to do… they SHOULD MAKE MOAR DARK CLOUD, is what made them what they are now!

  • eliel

was wondering about this game hope to see sum game play vids

  • Jaxx-Leviathan

Holy Blue Shell, I had forgotten about Danball Senki! Really glad to hear positive news about it, now I just hope they hold true to the promise. And Ni no Kuni for DS and PS3 of course, really looking forward to those as well.

  • joesz

    lol! angelic layer.

    doesn’t seem bad though

  • thebanditking

I have been dying to see more on this, hopefully it makes it way to US/EU.

  • Whatever happend to Ushiro???

  • puchinri

I suppose I need to get a PSP now.

    Feels like Pokemon meets Medarot.

Still can’t wait for Ni ni Kuni as well.
Did we ever get official news if Level-5 is (planning to) localizing games in the West not since they opened that new office?

    • Exkaiser

But… Medarot was more or less Pokemon with Robots and 3v3 already? It even used the same overworld system.

I suppose Medarots didn’t fit in your hand, but they did teleport.

      • puchinri

Yeah, it is mostly the same~. But then again, isn’t anything with battling something you raise/own/create/whatever essentially Pokemon? To this day, Monster Rancher feels like Pokemon to me…. But in the best way possible.

Speaking of Medarot, I haven’t seen any news on Siliconera about the newest one. Am I just missing something? Or is the game out already? (Admittedly, I kind of don’t like the designs, but still.)

        • Exkaiser

Medarot DS has been out for a couple months now.

I’ve really grown fond of the new designs, but the game includes a large cast of returning designs if you can’t dig ’em.

          • puchinri

Ah, I see. That makes sense.

That’s nice to know. I’m going to consider importing it.

  • liamscanlan

And Level-5’s secret title is……Football Frontier International:

  • Joanna

Most excited about both Ni no Kuni-s. =)

  • This game reminds me of GOTCHA FORCE for GC.

  • liamscanlan

Remember that Black Box thing Level-5 trademarked nearly 4 months ago? That could be the new game that they’re announcing.

  • liamscanlan

Um…guys, the new game is an Inazuma Eleven Wii game:
