Disgaea 4 Comes To North America Next Summer

By Spencer . September 17, 2010 . 12:31pm

imageNIS America wasted no time announcing Disgaea 4. The publisher confirmed it for a North American release and it’ll be here next summer. That’s not too far from the February 24, 2011 launch date in Japan, right?

In case you missed our other posts, Disgaea 4 stars a vampire named Valbatoze and Fuka who’s dressed in a Prinny suit. Valbatoze is trying to overthrow a Netherworld regime. Disgaea 4 has a new graphic engine with high resolution sprites and a network feature.

  • Wow so they will bring it out here right after Ar Tonelico Qoga: Knell of Ar Ciel(?). So many PS3 games in quick succession, I love it.Next summer is the perfect time for Disgaea 4, it will give me something to do in my time away from the lab, the perfect stress reliever for PhD work.

The warrior in the image could use better weapons or more reincarnations, he seems rather week for being level 9999, only 1.5mln HP and, I would at least have had him with 99% resistance on everything as well.

    • malek86

And I thought my 999 HP Demi-fiend was good :(

      • Kibbitz

I’m not sure that there’s anything out there that outscales Nippon-Ichi games in terms of statblocks, really.

        • malek86

Well, if we talk in terms of general scale, there’s Gigawing with its trillion points scores. And that’s for a bad run.

          • Kibbitz

Well-played =P Man, Gigawing, that felt like ages ago…

  • NIS america

    never dissapoints

  • pridesin

NIS America. I love you guys.

  • neetloaf

    I applaud you, NISA.

Now if only planned to bring the Fuuka nendoroid petite over here as well, then I wouldn’t have a reason to import the game. :(

    • Kibbitz

Sadly, that’s the way of goodies for you. Though will you buy a US copy as well then?

  • nyoron

I guess it’ll come out towards the end of August like the other console Disgaeas, which is almost a year from now. Since I have no patience I’ll probably import it first like I did with 3.

  • ForeverFidelis

Oh lawd is that some HD in my Disgaea?

After this DMC fiasco I’m glad to be reminded that there are companies out there who want to please their fans

  • From the botton of my heart…thank NISA.

  • Feynman

Good job, NIS and NISA. HD sprites and a quick localization? Can’t do much better than that.

  • Arcm

    color me preordered : )

  • cj_iwakura

Uh, where did you get the info from? My inbox lacks a Prinny Bomb update!

    • The rpgland site seemed to have an interview while overthere…maybe they asked a representative in japan?

  • Finalstar2007

NISA thank you so much, this will be a first day purchase

  • Guest

    Hmm so quick.

So why no announcement for Neptune

  • zhemos

We all knew It was gonna be localized, but It is nice to know right off the bat. :)

Cannot wait for this, It looks amazing.

  • Yay. Another game that I have to buy :)

And with these new characters it might be interesting. Not that I have a liking to Fuuka today. But that might change when I see more of her.

And with Both Ar Tonelico 3 and Disgaea 4 next year holy this coming year is going to be great. I just have to wish for more titles :)

  • Kamion

I’ll probably still import AND get the US version because ZERO PATIENCE etc.

That, and I really want the Artbook and Nendoroid…

    But this is awesome news.

  • Kris

    That looks shockingly pretty.

  • cmurph666

    Day 1.

  • Chow

Which reminds me: I better start the Raspberyl chapters. I bought the DLC, but never got around to it.

  • shion16

wow they are beting all in this game

  • [The Hunter] Doomrider

Someone bring it over to Europe and my money is yours.

  • Exand

Woah, high definition sprites indeed. Can’t wait to play part 4.

  • I know a lot of people are psyched for this but hopefully it’s more than just ‘the graphics are in HD now’.

I don’t know about most people, but I usually didn’t care about my Disgaea game being in high-res art. The flashy cutscenes per attack are nice to watch the first few times but, eventually, those who do the grind in all games tend to shut them off. I was more into it because the gameplay was worth the dozens upon hundreds of hours that I put into it. If it’s all eye-candy and no game, then it really doesn’t do much for me. It honestly looks like D3 on high-res…so hopefully there’s a whole lot more to it than that.

  • Code

rar, back from my trip hooray >ww<~!

  • neo_firenze

Good timing too… The fall holiday rush and the spring “we couldn’t get it out for last year’s holiday rush so let’s get it before the end of our fiscal year” rush are always busy. Summer always seems to be awfully light on RPGs and won’t have a ton of other stuff overshadowing this release. Nice to see that for a game that is very important to NIS’s continued existence they seem to be doing the must-have things right with the news so far (prettier sprites, good release timeframe).

  • pridesin

Hey guys, I just checked the gamefaqs.com and it has U.S release date as 09/17/11. Anybody know where that information come from???

    • Speculation…Isnt that the last day of Summer, seems like a place holder date for “it will be out Summer 2011”.

    • Ereek

Yeah, GameFAQs uses “rough” estimates until official dates are revealed. It’s a bit hard to trust sometimes since the data is given by contributors.

Though it should be noted that September does generally fall under the “summer release” category.

  • I look forward to what all NIS has in mind.

  • Wow they sent the prinny bomb out fast about it, lol, summer cant come fast enough

  • Jayred_Potter

Cool. Cant wait for another Disgaea game to come out. Its been far to long since I have been able to play one of them

  • Extra_Life

This is Very Good News™. In a year when a new Disgaea is released, I can rest assured that even if many other great games are released around it, I’ll be glued to this, and only this.

    NIS: Saves you money.
