Prinny 2: Dawn Of Operation Panties, Dood! Hip Pounds Into January 2011

By Spencer . October 8, 2010 . 4:08pm

Hero Prinny has 1,000 lives to save the wor… oh he’s not saving the world? Ah, I see he’s just trying to recover Etna’s panties in Prinny 2: Dawn of Operation Panties, Dood! NIS America is keeping the panty finding plot intact and localizing it for North America.

As a sequel to Prinny: Can I Really be the Hero, Dood?, Prinny 2 is a tough-as-nails side-scroller where Prinny has to hip pound his way through waves of Disgaea enemies. Prinny 2: Dawn of Operation Panties, Dood! will be available as a PlayStation Network download and UMD disc sometime in January 2011.

For more on Prinny 2 check out the two playtests Laura posted. This one covers the main game. This one is about the secret character who has her own mode.

  • A countinuing cascade of games set in the Disgaea universe I like. I missed out on Prinny 1 though, I hope to not miss out this time as I guess the games were pretty cool

  • urbanscholar

I’m going to love selling this game to people at work. I’ll love every single awkward minute of them describing and tell me the name of it. Ha-ha, seriously guys this stuff makes me & the person’s day.

    • Kamion

Can’t they just say “Prinny 2” and be done with it? o_o

      • If they do, Urbanscholar, it is your obligation to completely refuse them service unless they say the full title.

  • As a fan of the first game, I am very much looking forward to this game.

  • malek86

Awesome. Can’t wait till I enter into Hell’s Finest again, it had that nice feeling of frustration mixed with quickness of death, which for whatever reason is actually appealing when it comes to videogames.

Looks like I’ll need a bigger memory stick.

    • Yusaku_Matsuda70s

Your last sentence comes off to me as hilarious, for some reason…

  • Can we get a Prinny stress-reliever or padded PSP case as a pre-order bonus? : P

  • i remember the first game was really hard

and i chose the ninja level last which is the hardest to choose last

  • Zeik56

  • Sigh. And here I was hoping an announcement of Fate/Extra…

    • Why or how would NISA even land on that title for localizing…didnt some company say its difficult to negotiate with Capcom anyway.

      • What are you saying? Capcom doesn’t even has the rights for Fate/Extra the game was published by a Marvelous in Japan. I just think NISA is one of the few publishers that would bring that game.

        • Cause capcom brought the other two Fate/Stay games here to the us…

          • Hraesvelgr

Capcom only released one Fate game in the US, and they were the publisher of that game in Japan. Fate/Extra is published by Marvelous, if I recall correctly.

  • Pichi

Excellent! Glad to see it come over! Will get it soon!

    C’mon Atlus with LA3!!

    • Or Chatherine.

      • Joanna

Catherine is a given since it is being developed by Atlus Japan. LA3, on the other hand, I’ve given up hope.

“NIS America is keeping the panty finding plot intact”

Thank god. I was afraid that either we’d never get this or they would be forced to censor it.

Too bad this is coming out AFTER Christmas, it would have been part of my wish list.

    • Hraesvelgr

Why would they have to censor or never release it?

      • JustaGenericUser

        I guess you don’t live in America…

    • I wonder if they have the guts to localize something like Criminal Girls? I would love to play that.

  • Any chance of this being playable on just the ps3 :P

    • First thing that popped into my mind! These screenshots are gorgeous!

Man a PSP emulator would be the Ultimate Killer App!!!! Even better if you could transfer saves between PSP/PS3.

      • I’m really hoping for something like that once the PSP2 is announced. Wishful thinking, I know.

  • Code

Day One, easy. rar, the first game was brilliant on every level >w<; Although I have to question, why NISA changed the title, from "Dawn of the Great Pantsu Wars", to "Dawn of Operation Panties", the first had a way better ring to it.

    • Agreed, what the fu** at name change ;?

    • Hraesvelgr

Um… NISA takes great liberties with the titles of their games all the time.

      • Code

I never said they didn’t — but both titles are nearly the same only one is inherently less catchy.

        • Ereek

That’s your opinion, friend. I respectfully disagree with it. I prefer “underpants” to “pantsu,” “panties,” and “underwear,” however.

          • Code

            Fair enough >ww<

    • It’s not really much of a change; look up 作戦 on WWWJDIC.Either way, the JP title is a parody of a lot of “military operation”-themed titles—so I think it’s a better choice to translate it in a way that more closely resembles English game/movie titles in the genre rather than not get the joke across.I like it, but it’d be funnier to me if they’d gone a little more blatant. Something like “Operation: Panties”, “Modern Panty Warfare”, or “Panty Ops”. Maybe even “Prinny 2: Reach (for the Panties)” ;)

      • skyblaze

Prinny 2: Dawn of the Underwar

      • Code

See those titles would have been alright too >w<; It wasn't really so much about the translation being same or different, as much "Operation" has a of clunky quality to it especially in an already long title.

  • kupomogli

I’ve been waiting for this announcement. The first Prinny is one of the best platformers released in a long time. NIS really needs to develop more platformers.

    • Ereek

Agreed. Or more non-RPGs in general. I think they have a lot of creative talent that they could use to explore different genres and freshen them up.

  • cj_iwakura

    All is forgiven, NIS.

Do you want my soul deposited in a lump sum, or through installments?

  • Yay, Prinny’s awesome, dood!

  • This just made my day… I have been hoping for a while that the second prinny game would get a release since the first is one of my favorite games this gen.

  • Love NISA <3

  • Chippel

Aw, I wanted to know what it would be like to chase after Etna’s lost donuts. Oh well, this is good too.

  • Aaand time to pick up the first one. The weight of my backlog will crush me someday x'(

  • neo_firenze

Hey Nippon Ichi, while you’re in an announcing mood and not minding stuff like panties…

Any chance we could get Criminal Girls localized too? I honestly don’t care about the “punishment” aspect, I just really really like Imageepoch and I totally won’t be embarrassed to admit that I’m buying the little girl spanking RPG if I get to play more of their games in English.

And while we’re at it, Atlus… you too. C’mon, give us Luminous Arc 3!
