Tecmo Koei Blog – Fist Of The North: Ken’s Rage’s Dream Mode And DLC

By Hisashi Koinuma - Producer . November 3, 2010 . 2:02pm

Hey guys. Hisashi Koinuma here again to share some more Fist of the North Star: Ken’s Rage goodness with all of you! I’m really glad you guys enjoyed my first entry and felt the same excitement and passion that we felt for this series. It was really good to see so many of you get excited about the game and I hope that you all gave it a shot when it launched on November 2.

OK, getting down to business…today I want to share two more game features with you so stay tuned and don’t change the…uhm…channel?

Last time I talked about the game’s main mode called the Legend Mode which will take players through the original story as seen in the Fist of the North Star’s source material. However…hold your breath…(you may exhale now)…there is a secondary mode called Dream Mode. As the name may suggest, the mode presents a ‘what if’ story which gives you an opportunity to experience never before experienced imaginary events and endings from the Fist of the North Star universe. Fans of the series will definitely enjoy seeing alternate outcomes for their favorite characters. I don’t want to spoil the experience for you too much so I’ll restrain myself for now… Unlike the Legend Mode which was built from ground up to accommodate an action-adventure engine, we felt that giving players a different experience through a secondary mode would give everyone a more fun and lasting gameplay experience. When we took a look at the world of Fist of the North Star and compared it to our Warriors games we felt that the two complemented each other flawlessly so we decided to give you a taste of tactical action in a post-apocalyptic world…and coupled with the fact that you can play 2-Player local co-op in this mode it makes it even more…SWEET!

OK, for the second piece of candy, we’ve prepared heaps of DLC bonus content for everyone to enjoy. You’ll have the chance to play as one of the common bad guys and experience the world from a slightly different perspective. We are also giving you a chance to experience the battle as the massive, destructive character called Heart and go on a rampage to annihilate everyone! Apart from the extra characters we are giving you a chance to download the original character costumes from the source material and some other sweet-looking costumes. And for the delicious, frosty icing on the cake, we’ll be giving you new scenarios to play in as well. So there you have it!

Thanks heaps for tuning in to the blog. It was a real pleasure to talk to all of you about the game and I hope we have another chance to talk like this in the near future…unless…YOU’RE ALREADY DEAD! ATATATATATATATATATATA!!!!

  • MisterNiwa

So today I finally played the demo, and goddamnit, this is the best Dynasty Warriors game, even better than Dynasty Warriors Gundam.

    It was actually pretty fun.

      Thank you

  • Well, I tried looking for it at the nearest game stores by my location, so far, they don’t have it stocked. I guess when I go home this weekend, I’ll be heading to the game store near there to buy this.

  • BelmontHeir

So, I played the demo last night and totally got my ass kicked. The character seemed to move pretty slow and the boss’ health bar was massive. The game sure looked pretty but I got the feeling I’d be out of my depth if I bought it. Bear in mind I’ve never played a Dynasty Warriors title before, but I *love* the Fist of the North Star anime.Should I still check the game out?

    • Did you try the Rei part of the demo? It’s a complete stage instead of just a boss fight, and he moves a lot faster than Kenshiro.

Personally I’d still check it out if I were you, but I’m a big Dynasty Warriors fan so I’m biased. It gets blasted in reviews frequently for not being innovative, but it’s a fun brawler series. There’s about seventeen thousand sequels and spinoffs for a reason.

    • Yes, give it a try. It’s a pretty unusal “Dynasty Warriors” titles by the way, more streamlined and modeled after a side scrolling brawler rather than the open field Dynasty Warriors/Samurai Warriors games.

  • Can’t wait! Although, having seen the ‘Original Kenshiro Costume’ DLC on the UK PSN as £1.99 I might have to skip that and presumably anything else priced similarly. For a costume that’s asking an awful lot.

The main release though looks pretty damn swelled with content anyway though, so I’m really looking forward to poking holes in it with my fingers sometime soon.

    I dont have money T.T
It looks like im gonna have to………..get a job
But well……if i dont do that” Ill be already dead”

  • I love Hisashi.

He’s totally rock solid. And he speaks kinda like me, except not so vulgar (I really have to restrain myself on here)

But man, that looks great. It appears Warrior games are a dish best sold licensed.

  • I actually loved the demo. I think I played it over 10 times just learn combos….and to kick Jaggi’s face in over and over again.

  • cjeromek

I’m having an extremely “Fist” week. First, I got the first dvd set and I am extremely pleased with it and I have set 2 preordered. And I’m waiting for the game to reach me some time this week. I’m in an extremely good mood this week. Too much manliness for one man.

  • thebanditking

Sounds cool, I have mine pre-ordered with Amazon so I got the bandit DLC coming, hopefully the Gamestop exclusive DLC (heart) won’t stay that way for long. Thanks for the update and I can’t wait until this arrives at my door!

  • I preordered it also, eagerly waiting for it to arrive.
I love the series (anime/manga/movies) and loved the demo, although (sorry man) I don’t like at all the Dinasty Warriors games this one looks and plays amazingly.
    Keep up the good work!
On a side note, is it true that all new copies of the game comes with a code to the Kenshiro original clothes from the manga?

  • Does any one know if there will b any more DLC besides the cost, heart and the outlaw. please someone say yes
