First Rune Factory Ocean Videos Showcases A Lack Of Loading Times

By Spencer . November 11, 2010 . 7:09pm

Rune Factory Oceans producer Yoshifumi Hashimoto is proud of how quickly the game transitions from one area to the next.

See? Almost no loading times. The video was taken from the Wii version, but Hashimoto promises the PlayStation 3 version is roughly the same. Hashimoto says Rune Factory Oceans broke the below two second barrier for loading barrier for changing maps.

He spoke a tiny bit about farming too. Players can move to different islands by riding a giant named Ymir. Moving from place to place, even crossing the ocean, should be easy since Ymir has an auto-walk function.

"Naturally, Rune Factory Oceans will have bath scenes," Hashimoto closes.

I’ve got to say… the Wii version looks pretty nice. I know it’s not an overly graphic-intensive design, but still – looks good. The short load times are pretty impressive.

I haven’t played a Rune Factory before, but am getting excited about this one. Hopefully it’ll find it’s way over.

  • Yusaku_Matsuda70s

Yes yes, the load times are indeed short, but more importantly to me from this video… the game looks fantastic in motion!! Love the pleasant design of that town segment and running animation’s not bad. I hope there will be townsfolk up and about though…

EDIT: Oh man I can’t stop watching the video loop… Gotta come back every hour and watch it once or twice… WAIT “bath scenes”? “Naturally”?? Are we introducing an ecchi element now? Should I be scared or excited?

    • It might just be a reference to how Rune Factory always has a public bath. Rune Factory needs monster-taming, adventuring, levelling, and… baths. Don’t question it.

      • Yusaku_Matsuda70s

Well I knew RF always had baths… but then why did he make specific mention of it out of the blue? Why didn’t he say “bath” instead of “bath SCENES”? O_O

    • puchinri

Agreed, I love the designs! And RF:F had townsfolk out and about a bit, so I would hope they would be just as much if not more so in Oceans. Then again, if the townsfolk are influenced by each other this time around, maybe we’ll actually see them hanging out with each other around town and such.

Maybe they’re talking about the scenes when you go into the baths at certain times and you can hear everyone else talking? Do those count as scenes? I honestly don’t know what to think, now that I’m actually considering it… 0u0′

  • puchinri

I like the look of that locale. It’s looking good so far, I’m excited~.
How soon might we know the exact number and bachelors? (And bachelorettes too…)

  • *girly scream* omg this is what i call teasing, just 15 seconds.

    • Yusaku_Matsuda70s

Can I girly scream with you?

      • Go on ahead man, rune factory oceans deserves all the girly screams we can give!

      • MisterNiwa

What are you!? Girls!? No really, are you girls? *cough*

        • Yusaku_Matsuda70s

Just use your imagination. Or not. XD

  • This game sounds great.

  • I love how the sponsor video is longer than the actual video.

    • Gestahl

I hate videos on SiliconEra because of the f….n sponsor messages. They even give me their f…n message when I hit Replay!!

      • Don’t watch the videos here then. The translated information is worth reading, but the video content is typically an LQ mirror of something off YouTube, NicoVideo, Famitsu—et cetera. …This one is from MMV’s blog for the game. (I suppose it’s convenient for anyone who can’t watch WMVs and doesn’t want to bother getting a player that can.)

        • Gestahl

I know that, but I still watch videos here from time to time – to support SiliconEra.

…wish it wasn’t so ad-heavy though (can I at least do a Replay without an ad?).

    • Hraesvelgr

      What sponsor video?

  • HarryHodd

Looks pretty good. Cant wait to see more. Would like to see the ps3 version too.

  • Vino (Tim N)

This looks pretty fantastic. I can’t wait to start seeing PS3 videos for it.

  • Pesmerga00

I’m not usually a fan of the HM or RF games. However this one has piqued my interest. A unique premise, that above all looks fun. The short loads don’t hurt either.

  • vadde939

Can’t wait for this. I’m pretty impressed by the graphics of the Wii version. It looks quite a bit better than Frontier did.

  • Joanna

Indeed, those are some of the shortest load times I have experience. :)

The game is looking nice as well.

this game looks awesome for the fiance anyways.

Rune Factory HD FTW!!! I look forward to this.
