Sega Bringing Dreamcast Collection To Xbox 360 And PlayStation 3 [Update]

By Ishaan . November 17, 2010 . 8:25am

What exactly is Dreamcast Collection for the 360 and PS3? That’s something we’d dearly like to know as well. Gamestop’s website lists the package for a 15th February, 2011 release at $29.99.

As far as digital Dreamcast re-releases go, so far, Sega have released Sonic Adventure on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network, with Crazy Taxi coming next week. Space Channel 5 Part 2 and Sega Bass Fishing are set to follow in 2011 as well.

There’s no telling yet which of these games will be included on the Dreamcast Collection disc, but we’ll keep you posted as we learn more.

Update: Thanks to MickA07 in the comments for letting us know that the package was for both the 360 and PS3, and that both listings have now been pulled from Gamestop!

I think it was listed for both PS3 and 360 based on the joystiq post. I guess they pullled the PS3 one first and then the 360 as they’re both missing now.

    • Post updated! Thanks a ton for pointing this out. :)

      • MickA07

        No probs :)

There’s no Shenmue in that list so it is incomplete

    • MemeticRichard

      Lol. Hey there, Aoshi. :D

      • Yusaku_Matsuda70s

What? Are you calling out to him or is there this double experimental commenter-social-testing alternate personality thing going on that I don’t know about? o_O

EDIT: OH NOEZ maybe every single commenter on this site is Aoshi except me!
        Yes, me.
        [turns Matsuda into another Aoshi]
        Me… Me… Me…
        Me too.

        • Aoshi00

Oh man, everyone make it sound like I’m the only Shenmue fanatic here lol (me no want Yakuza zombie game, me wantz Shenmue 3, throws a fit)Nah, I think I’m the only guy who still clings to the outdated Tare-panda :) Right now only Rilakkuma is fashionable :) I just realized my Chrono Trigger DS cartridge is nowhere to be found.. I was getting all jiggy to play it on the DSi XL.. throws another fit.. (I’ve lost DS games before, like Brain Age, Training, NSMB, and Ouedan 1, they were in the same case..)

          • Yusaku_Matsuda70s

But Tarepanda is superior. Especially when there are many Tarepandas stacked on top of each other. Rilakkuma just looks like a generic bear.

But my favorite chibi J-animal mascot is Dogtato Kun (& friends). Actually maybe Pucca is better. But she’s a Korean girl, not a J-animal mascot.

Ok that was off topic. To remedy this I also vote JGR & SoA.

      • thebanditking

        Aoshi? where?

  • Bass fishing? Really? -.-

  • Xeahnort

I wish some RPGs like Dragon Riders or Silver would get a 360/PS3 port

  • puchinri

Gamestop has been pulling a lot of listings lately. First Xenoblade, now this and who knows what else.

I certainly hope there’s Space Channel 5 and Sonic Adventure on it. But I’d also like to have Shenmue on it too.

Did they already do something like this for the Saturn?

    • No, they haven’t. I heard an interview last year where they said they wanted to do a Saturn collection for PS3/360, but have been having emulation problems. That was last year, haven’t heard anything else about it since.

      • puchinri

Ahh, okay. I was thinking of that, but I couldn’t remember what was said.
That’s a shame. I hope we hear something more.

    • Joanna

Wait WHAT?! There was an XenoBlade listing pulled by Gamestop?! DO TELL!!
I’ve been hoping we would get it.

      • puchinri

        Haha! Same here!
I went in one day and one guy went to look at the date, because I figured they would have some placeholder date, and he said it was there, but they took it down. And another of the guys said he remembered seeing it on there too for December. But whether or not it was actually meant for December or just a ‘coming this year… sometime’ thing, I don’t know.

I hope we still get it though. I was watching gameplay vids the other day and was reminded of how much I want it.

        • Joanna

A december release would be really nice if unlikely. *crosses fingers that we hear an announcement from Nintendo soon*

          • puchinri

Agreed~. I think I remember hearing there’s a lot of customization and there’s lots of little events/talks with side characters, etc (I think that was for Xenoblade), so I imagine that all takes a long time to translate. I wouldn’t mind waiting until early next year.
As long as Nintendo says we’ll be getting it some time. >u<

  • Arcm

I hope for Skies of Arcadia I can play that game for a 7th time no problem…… I can dream

  • Just FYI, Crazy Taxi is already out on PSN as of yesterday.

  • Tokyo Guy

You know, people are welcome to call me out for this, but IMHO the only actually good Sega games can be counted on 1 hand:Sonic the Hedgehog 1Sonic the Hedgehog 2Sonic CDRagnacenty (Crusader of Centy)Space Channel 5 Part 1
That’s it for me. Sega games always tended to look horribly inferior to anything on the SFC/SNES for starters, and I could never get into any of the ones I didn’t list. To this day I don’t understand why people like Shenmue or Virtua Fighter.BTW where the hell is the Virtual Console port of Ragnacenty?!?! That was one of the most shameless/best Zelda clones I remember playing.

    • I don’t even know how to respond other than to make my post a list of about 100 games that say you are wrong (neither of which, btw, would be Virtua Fighter or Shenmue). The list of great games put out by Sega is so long that it would probably take me about an hour to write it up if I started back in the Genesis days and continued to today.

      • Tokyo Guy

Yes, I know that there are people who love Sega games and I respect your opinion. I guess it’s more of a personal thing really.

    • thaKingRocka

to each his own. I’ve never liked a Sonic game, but I’ve been a big fan of Sega’s games since days of underoos.

Wonder Boy, Fantasy Zone, Black Belt, Phantasy Star, Shinobi, After Burner, Out Run, Castle of Illusion, Golden Axe, Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taxi, Virtua Cop, House of the Dead, Moonwalker, Samba de Amigo, Altered Beast, Space Harrier, Quartet

There are more, but I’m tired of doing this. BTW, the best Zelda clone I’ve ever played is Neutopia.

      • Tokyo Guy

Oh yes, Neutopia. Yes I loved that game. Well then, Ragnacenty is the best Zelda-clone on a Sega console IMHO.

As for Wonder Boy, IIRC that was basically just a licensed remake of Hudson’s “Adventure Island”, no? I don’t consider that a Sega series really.

And yes, it is all a matter of opinion. I’m not sure why I really never cared for Sega games. I think it’s because they were always much more of an arcade experience, and I never cared for arcade games so much. But it was also how the visuals and sounds paled in comparison with the offerings on Nintendo’s console.

        • thaKingRocka

I am an arcade gamer at heart. Always have been, always will be.

Wonder Boy was the original with Hudson’s Adventure Island being the soulless product of a strange contract arrangement.

          • Tokyo Guy

Oh is that so? Interesting. I always thought it was the opposite way around with Sega licensing the Hudson game. Apparently the titular character, Takahashi Meijin, was some kind of uber-otaku and Hudson gave him his own game. (Outside Japan, however, he was renamed Master Higgens).

  • Please, bring Dragon Force!!!

    • cj_iwakura

      Never gonna happen.

    • Saturn game, not Dreamcast game.

  • Barrit

What game is the robot from in the picture on the front page of this article?

  • Guest

Either give me Cannon Spike or GTFO

    • Won’t be on there. That’s a Capcom title, not a Sega one.

  • d19xx

Despite Sega’s success on the portable market, I’m surprised they haven’t ported Virtual On on either DS and PSP. The Gundam vs Gundam game kinda feels like Virtual On, but it just makes me miss kicking ass as Viper II…

  • DemonicX

Awesome! Now we want Jet Set Radio! =D

  • They Should Throw all the Digital Downloads on there as well as add:
    Shenmue and Jet Grind Radio.

If this goes over well They should release a new pack with:
    Phantasy Star Online (Cube Port)
    Shenmue 2
    Sonic Adventure 2 Battle
    Power Stone
    and Canon Spike (wishful thinking)

  • MrRobbyM

Give me Sonic Adventure 2 Battle and Jet grind radio and I’ll be happy.

  • Call me old fashioned, Sega, but I’d sooner have new content on the Dreamcast instead.

    • Why stop at the Dreamcast? The Master System could always use some loving.

  • This has me very, very excited. If Skies of Arcadia is on there, I’ll need surgery to remove the smile from my face.

  • Skies of Arcadia and Jet Set Radio please!

    • Plus Alien Front Online :´(

  • LynxAmali

Sonic Adventure Battle and Skies of Arcadia, might as well toss on Phantasy Star and Alien Front too. If those are included, I think I may need some therapy in order to remove my clinical severe stage severe “Awesomeness” disorder.

  • This is so awesome news.

  • I don’t care wut games r on there as long as I can get Project Justice w/ online! *fingers crossed* CAPCOM!!!!
