What Rune Factory Oceans Looks Like On Land

By Spencer . December 2, 2010 . 1:02am

Marvelous released two screenshots of Rune Factory Oceans’ male lead, Azel, walking on dry land. The heads up display looks like Rune Factory Frontier, but busier with popup messages and a helpful looking mini-map.

See the giant creature standing in the ocean? That’s Ymir. You can ride it to different islands in the game.

Rune Factory Oceans comes out for Wii and PlayStation 3 on February 24, 2011 in Japan. First run copies also include a drama CD and visual artbook as bonus items.

  • Will probably buy if this gets localized.
Will DEFINITELY buy if this gets localized + Japanese audio option included.

    • kelsniff

totally agree! so many games get sadly ruined by american voice acting, if they do that I want an option to make them all never talk again.

      • Rune Factory frontier had an excellent english audio though. And Selphy’s voice was just perfect T.T

      • The English dub for RF3 and RFF were great. Ok, the original voices were better with their all-star seiyuus, but they were still perfectly fine.

        RF2, on the other hand…..

        • I dont think RF3 voices were that good though…. Karin.. err.. i mean karina, sounds like an old lady sometimes T_T, they kind of destroyed the image i had of her… But it wasnt that bad, and i like the fact that they are actually trying to get better voices, compared to RF2, this is heaven xD.Man, but i just cant forget RFF voices, they really pwned, i dont really tend to compare jap voices with eng, because we all know that being a famous seiyuu in japan is like being a pop star, and being a voice actor here, is another job on the list D:, thats why i admire people who make the effort to get into the character with english voices.

      • Yea. Though i admit some Eng dubs are ok, they’re still just not as good as original jap voices.

Not just because Jap voice sound better, but I think that the feelings and intentions of the characters can be conveyed best using their original languages.

  • Well I guess we wont be getting that drama CD.

The game looks rather polished, the water could be enhanced a bit.

    • Yusaku_Matsuda70s

I agree about the water, but it seems like the scale of the world is rather large, and having prettier water effects might cause some serious lag. At least it fits the simple but colorful style.

  • Oh my god, this must be localized, i cant wait to see the opening, Rune Factory Frontier’s opening was just perfect X_XBut wait… The girls are gorgeus and all, but dont they have the same eyes? O_O, is there a meaning to this or they just did it that way, all the difference i see is in the eyebrows… I hope the opening is anime style, i still dont feel 100% sure is the same artist as always… He always makes all the girls pretty different, eyes included…

Oh and it seems we can bring 3 monsters at the same time :O

  • goronyan

From these screenshots, this game looks quite similar to Dawn of Mana for ps2.
definitely a must buy for me

  • Yusaku_Matsuda70s

I want to squeeze those woolies so hard… so fluffy and round, tiny little limbs…

    • puchinri

Now I want a horde of woolies to call my own… (But they honestly scare me a little.)

      • Yusaku_Matsuda70s

        Why doe they scare ya?

        • puchinri

I remember one time in Frontier when I foolishly ran up to one (I wasn’t even level 10 yet, so my fault), and it nearly murdered me just by tripping. Yeah, it would have killed me cutely, but since then, I just feel so deceived and intimidated by them.

          • Yusaku_Matsuda70s

The cuter they are, the killer they are… X)
And now you can write a song called “Killing Me Cutely”! :D

It’s ok, you can get revenge by scrubbing them to death with your smothering love brush!!

          • puchinri

            Haha, seriously. >u<
Hah! I shall do that! And I'm going to send it to Neverland and MMV so they understand the dilemma they have put me in.

I'm going to pop in RFF right now so I can do just that.

  • HarryHodd

Game looks pretty good. Seems like there is a lot to do to keep youngish in this one.

  • I’m wondering if anyone believes that releasing Rune Factory: Oceans on February 24, 2011, is a really poor decision by Marvelous, considering that the Nintendo 3DS will also be released on the same week (Feb 26th to be exact). It’s like if Marvelous were to release a game on the same day in which New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Pokemon Black and White, or (if it’s any indication) The Last Story were also released and expect that it wouldn’t impact them in any way. With that said, it’d be great if Neverland Co. ended up implementing something similar to Samurai Warriors 3: Xtreme Legends “Mix Joy” feature (which allows you share data and modes from Samurai Warriors 3 to SW3: XL) for Rune Factory: Oceans Wii. It’d be a nice gesture to owners of Rune Factory: Frontier (and Wii owners in general). In addition, I can’t even begin to imagine the interesting possibilities that such an interaction would provide.

    • When else would they release it? Isnt the 3DS just a system that this game isnt running on (PS3 + Wii)?

  • puchinri

The trailer was a fun watch, I’m excited for dungeon crawling/battles now.
I’m just sad there still isn’t much on the bachelors (unless I missed something).

  • vadde939

Day 1 buy for me. Hopefully XSEED localise it so we get an awesome english dub like RF Frontier. I dont want the voice acting to sound horrible like RF2 *shudders*
