What Do You Think Of These Disgaea 4 Special Attack Names?

By Spencer . December 13, 2010 . 7:11pm

Not too long ago, Nippon Ichi asked fans in Japan to name some new attacks in Disgaea 4. And these are the names they picked for the PlayStation 3 game.

Slash Blade Chase Muraji Cross (sword)

Rest in Piece (axe)

Bullet Kiss (gun)

Sorrowful Spear Funeral (spear)

Split Fighting Spirit Special (fist)

Cliff Hunter (bow)

If you haven’t seen them before watch clips of the six attacks here. NIS America will bring Disgaea 4 to the States, but we’re not sure if they’re going to base attack names on the Japanese version or run a similar contest for the West.

I like Bullet Kiss and Rest in Piece the most

    • As amusing as “Rest in Piece” is it could also be “Rest in Peace” the katakana could go either way, I just though Rest in Piece was more amusing after seeing the attack cleave the zombie in “pieces.”

  • I dont know why but they sound sort of of cheesy though bullet kiss and sorrowful spear funeral are the awesome one

  • I totally like Bullet Kiss, hahahah

    • Locklear93

Yeah, some of them suffer from awkward direct translation, but Bullet Kiss is perfect. I’d like to see that one kept. :)

  • I’m sure these sound less word-mashy in Japanese.

Do kind of like Cliff Hunter though.

  • Whoever chose Rest in Piece is a creative genius, lol, that one is awesome.

Yeah, I’ve definitely never heard that a hundred times before.

  • Someone should name an attack “You’re Already Dead” just for the hell of it. xD

    • kupomogli

      You’re already dead (fist)

  • So wait, the Japanese submitted all of these in English (except for that one word)? Or were they translated? I can see Baretto Hantaa being in katakana. Split Fighting Spirit Special actually flows pretty well, I don’t see why these names can’t be used.

I’m hoping NISA does a contest for us to come up with attack names. That would be pretty awesome.

  • neocatzon

    what’s muraji?

  • I would have liked to see special attacks named like “a punch”, “a kick”, “bitchslap of denial”, “something special”, “wrestling bear launcher”, “bad cooking #7” and “boot to the face”

  • Can’t wait to see the weird kanji combination they use.

Or they could just put everything in katakana…

  • That Bullet Kiss move..looks similar to Salvatore’s Duel! gun move. The first one’s too long for Disgaea standards
