A Glimpse At Day To Night, An Unreleased Horror Game From Midway

Hot on the heels of our Hero news, we present Day to Night another unreleased and unannounced project from Mortal Kombat makers Midway. Environment art suggests Day to Night is a horror game. One scene shows a creature (zombie?) creeping up on a person with a dim flashlight.




Artwork from concept artist Brian Beppu shows there was an eerie motel and cemetery area for players to explore too.

Day to Night was in development during the heyday of the PlayStation 2, most likely between 2000-2003.

    The way the statue is shown in the picture of the cemetery makes it seem a bit out of place. But otherwise, these pictures seem pretty good for a horror game. Very desolate, silent and… dead.

      don’t mind the statue.. after all these were only the initials.
      In fact that picture besides it looked to me like motel built on a dirty river at first.

      • Hmmm… It’s been a long day. You’ve looked around for the clues to whatever mystery is going on in the game, and it’s raining cat and dogs. Also the temperatures are at high 30s, low 40s(Fahrenheit), so you want to return to some shelter really fast. You reach room and take out your room key. Before you put it in the keyhole though, you notice that the door’s been unlocked, yet you’re certain you locked the door when you went out. So then after thinking about it for a bit…

        Edit: Oh darn, you actually explore the motel as a level? I was thinking of it as the hub/resting area…

    • Hey you never know. The MC in this game could have been looking for something in the graveyard. He spots the Mary statue and smirks, then he finds what he wants. As he walks away, the camera facing him and the statue, lightning flashes and you’ll see the statue be something like OoO for that instant…

    • I can just picture it. You’re walking down the hallway, when you see the bloodstains on the wall and floor. Then you notice a cackling laughter coming from somewhere. That somewhere is the slightly open door with the light streaming out of it. You decide to take a peek inside and you see… Well, the rest is up to you to imagine. =P

      • I agree. They offer so many plot devices to use in stories, especially the mystery/horror genre.
