Way Of The Samurai 4’s Stealth Scenes Have A, Well, Different Goal

By Spencer . January 21, 2011 . 12:35pm

Stealth scenes are quite common in video games, especially in developer Acquire’s Tenchu series. Way of the Samurai 4 also has a portion where players need to tiptoe through a house, but it’s not for an assassination.

Sometime in the game you’ll run into a charming woman who tells you tonight she will be waiting. The catch is she’s inside the estate of your rival’s family. So, if you want to meet her you have to creep through the house without alerting anyone. Struggle through the mission and the two of you can enjoy some time together.

Way of the Samurai 4 comes out on March 3 in Japan.

  • Third screenshot is too awesome for words, as is Acquire’s sense of humor.

So what happens when you do meet up with the charming woman? Don’t tell me it fades to black..

    • capristrider

Probably fade to black and your DualShock 3 rumble to maximum setting! :)

    more samurai games FTW :D

  • i really should play three. man i miss this series. i hope i can just walk out of town like in 2.

  • want this … if ever out in PC

    • HarryHodd

Not going to happen. The series is on the PS3. Way of the Ninja might also be in development from what the developers are hinting.

  • As someone who has never played the series, are they all like this? If I were to pick up Way of the Samurai 3 for my PS3, what should I expect? I must be honest and say this series has never been on my radar, but I’m liking all the weirdness I’m seeing from this game. Can someone tell me a bit more about the series? I mean, I’m seeing reviews where people say you can beat 3 in two hours. That sounds…very odd, in a bad way.

Well yeah they are kinda crazy with a lot of wacky characters but it can also be serious too depending who you talk to or where you go in the game. WOTS 3 was my first one of these and I was kinda thrown by the open ended-ness of it all. I was literally walking around without a clue for a while until I figured out the job system and different houses. I mean you can join this house or that one and get jobs from them to make money or you can kill the leader and take over and make money from the whole operation while doing nothing. You can go on a killing rampage (which the game discourages) or you can just help people. In fact I think you can play through the game without fighting anyone if you chose to.

Also yes you could beat the game quickly if you wanted but it has very high replayability.
Now I hear WOTS 3 was a bit of a let down for the series so maybe it’s best to wait for 4 but you can probably get it really cheap.

In WotS1 you’ll see a gang chase down a woman right at the beginning… then you can ask if you can join in. I won’t say the end result, but it’s funny.

Also, in WotS1, you can throw a baby like it was a regular throwable object.
