Here’s What Else Is New In Rune Factory Oceans

One of the nicest features of Rune Factory Frontier on the Wii over the series’ Nintendo DS counterparts was being able to make changes to your equipment, and seeing those changes reflected visually on your character in the game.

 

This feature will be making a return in Rune Factory Oceans. You’ll be able to change equipment on your head, neck, arms and body. In a reply to a fan query on the game’s blog, producer, Yoshifumi Hashimoto, points out that, since Oceans uses character models for conversation scenes instead of anime portraits, you’ll be able to see these changes reflected during those scenes as well.

 

What’s better, however, is that items that you present to the townsfolk will be reflected in their looks, too. However, Hashimoto says, if you’re wearing silly equipment and feel that it ruins the feel of the event scene, you can press a button to revert back to your default look temporarily.

 

Similar to Rune Factory 3 on the Nintendo DS, the townsfolk in Oceans are more interactive, too. The ones you get along with will greet you as they pass by, which was one of Rune Factory 3’s more refreshing bullet points.

 

Finally, Hashimoto mentions in reply to a separate fan that storage space in Rune Factory Oceans has been increased. While we aren’t entirely clear on what he’s referring to, our interpretation of Hashimoto’s quote is that you can now store 99 item types, up from the 60 of previous games, in your storage areas.

 

Rune Factory Oceans is slated for a February 24th release in Japan on the Wii and PlayStation 3.
