A Look At Persona 2: Innocent Sin’s Quest Editor

By Spencer . March 25, 2011 . 3:39am

persona2qThere’s more to do at the Climax Theater than the Charisma Classroom quest. The PSP version on Persona 2: Innocent Sin includes a full blown quest editor.

A screenshot from Famitsu shows a player fixing NPC characters. It appears the maximum number of NPC characters you can set is ten and quests can take place in St. Hermelin High, the setting from Shin Megami Tensei: Persona. Other screenshots show dialogue editing and the event edit screen where you can pick a reward for completing a quest. User generated quests can be played at the Climax Theater.

Famitsu and Atlus are working together to create an original quest for Persona 2: Innocent Sin. The magazine also mentioned another side story "The Persona Thief." During a dream, you get a request from a nameless soul to investigate the "Heart’s Rest." When you arrive at Karukozaka High School, the setting for Shin Megami Tensei If…, you notice students at the school have lost their aspirations for some reason.

Persona 2: Innocent Sin is slated for release on April 14 in Japan.

  • This sounds cool and more amazing each time we hear about it, thanks!

An already long game can be even longer, thats great but something tells me that problaby Im going to used that on my second playtrough maybe mess arround with it once the first time we┬┤ll see…

  • P3P and now Persona 2 on the PSP. Brilliant, Atlus. Simply brilliant! The extra content is a great addition. Multiple play through value is always welcomed!

  • I’m just waiting for Atlus USA to announce the English release =3

    • There’s no *way* they can let it sit fallow in Japan again at this point. Anime Hitler or no. Holy crap.

By today’s standards, the subject matter handled here is pretty tame, just the way it’s tackled (in a mature manner) is something that’s rather uncommon.

As such, the subject itself would be able to escape nearly any or all media drama. So yes, they could take it over without taking any backlash.

That and. The fans have had the chance to repurchase PS1 originals of Eternal Punishment, they had the P1P remake, the P3’s and the P4. They’d be wise to complete the entire circle, and knowing how well the games sold, they should know very well we’re all STARVED for it.

        • There’s also the potential relationship with Jun. Apparently some moral guardians are more ready to forgive rebelling against God in a teenage game (Devil Survivor) than just the option to say you like a guy in a mature game.

      • “Gods” Eater Burst. Keep that in mind.

        • Nah, Atlus is better than that. We’ve been killing gods and demons in Nocturne :3

          • Just sayin’ man, they could puss out at ANY TIME.

          • If they wanna do it, they can do it after P2:IS :3 But yeah, in my opinion, Hitler is much less of a sensitive subject compared to gods, so he should make the cut. You’ll kill him anyway in the game. Also, not forgetting Tatsuya and XX’s relationship is much more acceptable today.

  • Hopefully if they do release the Game in US, they aren’t Douchebags like SE and actually keep the feature in the game >.>

Sounds cool. Hope there’s a lot of sharing going on with these quests. Maybe through the net or ad-hoc or something. :3 I can see it increasing the life of the games a lot. Kinda like all the maps in Dragon Quest IX. :)

I never played Persona 2 and I can’t wait to get it.

April is looking to be a good month for gaming. I hope we see IS get localized.

  • I could see this being cut out of the western release. But hopefully it will stay intact when it eventually comes to the west.

  • It has to come out over here. Even if it makes me cry all over again it needs to be localized.
