For Those Of You That Prefer The Original Persona 2: Innocent Sin Intro…

By Spencer . April 7, 2011 . 5:31pm

… it’s also in the PSP version of Persona 2: Innocent Sin. Fans can watch the original opening movie or the new intro made by Macross Frontier animation studio Satelight.

Atlus shared the original opening today too. This is how Persona 2: Innocent Sin began twelve years ago.

How did I miss this game 12 years ago?! That music in the final half was epic, and those ending moments when he is calling up his persona was awesome! Love the musical direction!

If you lived outside Japan you wouldn’t have had a chance at it (at least not until the fan patch was made).

Don’t forget Megaten/Persona was still pretty low-key in the west 12 years ago, aside from usenet and some specialized boards. Especially in comparison with the boom we have seen post-P3.

New OP is not bad, but not sure I’d prefer it over the original one.

The later part of the opening also appears remixed in game as one of the boss themes, check out this when you can http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=la5IJpmlxgo

I liked the original A LOT. Like, obsession to the max for a good year or two with nothing else. That being said, I really do like the opening for the new one as well (though nostalgia will always paint the original favorably) so I’m psyched for the remake. Thank god for region free handheld devices :D

I like how Atlus is trying to cater to both old and new fans. :D

    And we’re spoiled extra.

Thank you Atlus… So, unless I missed an article, any news of this being ported yet?

  • PrinceHeir

    pretty cool :D

definitely has the old retro feeling to it :P

I might prefer the new one if I didn’t think the music was terrible.

The first half is just breathtaking. Can’t believe they didn’t localize this back in the day.

Second half reminds me of older Ali Project.

  • Darkrise

I love the part from the beginning till 1:50. Sounded so ominous.

I like the older one better but both are great. I can see myself toggling between the two quite a bit. ^_^ To quote myself from a post a week ago:

“It really took awhile [to get into the older Opening] but after repeat listenings I fell in love with it. I think it just takes time to get into. Plus it’s best to listen to when your not looking for excitement. Lotus Juice gets you pumped to play the game. The older opening spooks you and just sticks with you. I do love Lotus Juice and all there Engrish XD … lol I dig the new opening especially since they put cheesy 90′sish sound effects in it. I’m sucker for that!!! Great Openings both of them.”

I don’t think I could say it any better than that. :)

I heard from many Persona fans that Persona 2 was the climax of the series. Man, This game plus Persona 3 and 4.

It kinda makes you wonder how Persona 5 will surpass the legend, right? :)

  • Joanna

The music is so beautiful, but maybe I’m biased since this is the kind of music I listen to for fun! xD

The new opening isn’t bad either, but I still prefer the original because of my personal taste in music. :)
