Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition Is For Consoles, PC, Retailers, And DLC

By Ishaan . April 12, 2011 . 8:17am

It looks like the leaked trailer and the Amazon leak were both right on the money. Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition will be made available for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 as a downloadable update, but also as a boxed title.

June 7th will see the release of the downloadable update on Xbox Live (1200 Microsoft Points) and PlayStation Network ($14.99). The retail boxed version for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 will follow on June 28th in the U.S. and June 24th in Europe.

Finally, the PC version – yes, this will be the Arcade Edition as well – will be released in July. As reported previously, the Arcade Edition will add the four new characters, a balancing update from the arcade, and an enhanced Replay Channel.

Here’s a look at a few more screenshots:

    nice!!
give this masterpiece to the pc piracy
    idiots

    • http://photovoltaik.bandcamp.com/ Ujn Hunter

You mean like they aren’t giving it to the Xbox 360 and PS3 pirates already right?

      • shion16

        PC pirates >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>XBOX Pirates > PS3 pirates

        • http://photovoltaik.bandcamp.com/ Ujn Hunter

I wasn’t arguing which platform had a greater risk of piracy. I was simply stating that regardless of whether or not this game came out for the PC, the game will still be floating around on pirate sites for the Xbox 360 and PS3. So what’s the difference?

          • shion16

Im just saying that now the piracy will have have full and free access to this masterpiece of game.
And they dont deserve even SF2 game boy version

          • http://photovoltaik.bandcamp.com/ Ujn Hunter

They already have full and free access though on Xbox 360 and PS3… all you do by not having a PC version is to tell PC gamers that they can’t play. Personally it doesn’t affect me in any way because I don’t play games on my PC but I’m sure there are PC gamers who’d also like to get their Street Fighter action on. Why deny them? There will always be people who don’t pay… don’t hurt the people who do by not allowing them access.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1472407455 Charles Lupula

Just one question…how many people do you know with Photoshop? Now how many of those people paid for it?

        • http://myfigurecollection.net/collection/ashgail Ashgail

how many people do you know with Windows? Now how many of those people paid for it? *fixed*

          • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1472407455 Charles Lupula

            Even less. lol

          • Ren

            Wait, Windows is paid?

          • daizyujin

+1. I paid for 95, 98, ME, XP, and 7. Skipped Vista, ME was crap.

        • daizyujin

While there is absolutely some truth to that statement, I know plenty that have paid for it. Professionals mind you, but I do know several.

    • daizyujin

Well just for the record, I own the PC version of SFIV. I walked in the store, put down my cash, and took it home. So don’t act like everybody that wants it is just wanting to pirate it, because that is just flat out wrong.

And just for the record, yes I will buy this on PC as well.

    • http://www.siliconera.com/ Ishaan

This is like the most useless comment I’ve seen all week. For god’s sake man, is it that hard to pause for a moment and think before you post something?

      • shion16

        my apologies man
i guess i wasnt thinking correctly in that moment
its just that i dont like to lose by fault of hackers or the piracy

        • daizyujin

Eh it don’t matter. No matter the platform it will be hacked, it will be stolen. Give it a year, you will be seeing 3D edition all over the tubes as well.

    • Tom_Phoenix

Well, according to Capcom, the PC version of the original sold beyond their expectations and they don’t exactly have any competition on the platform. So why not release a version for the PC? It doesn’t even matter if it gets heavily pirated or not, Capcom will still get to squeeze out some extra profit from an already existing game.

  • http://myfigurecollection.net/collection/ashgail Ashgail

Unless the disc has awesome extras, I think I’ll pass…. The price difference is significant enough to get DLC only.

    • daizyujin

The only two reasons I can see a person with Super getting the disc are as follows.

      1. They go over to friends a lot for on the couch play. It is just easier.

      2. The game comes with all of the current costume dlc. Seriously if you add all that up so far, it gets damn expensive.

Otherwise, just stick to the DLC. It is IMHO $5 overpriced, but a welcome change to what they forced us to do to get Super.

      • http://myfigurecollection.net/collection/ashgail Ashgail

I didn’t mind Super being a disc, because they added quite a lot of stuff in it although they planned it to be DLC in the first place. I’m hoping for costumes, because otherwise, I won’t be touching the disc.

        • daizyujin

I didn’t really have a huge problem with it myself in regards to Super, but forcing players to buy a disc for this would have been a joke. The jump from IV to Super was leaps and bounds above the jump from Super to Super Arcade.

          Super:

          10 new characters
          Several new backgrounds
New way more fleshed out online
New openings and endings for all characters.

          Arcade:

          4 new characters
          A new replay mode
          A few balance tweaks

Hardly worth $40 to a person that already owns Super.

  • Eddie

That’s some nice box art. Can’t wait until the dlc drops! Now if Sega could just give us the arcade version of Virtua Fighter 5 as dlc!

    • daizyujin

Absolutely. I have been dieing to try out some of the enhancements in the later versions of Virtua Fighter 5.

  • http://www.pixiv.net/member.php?id=2704923 Buntar0

Character size on the boxart = estimated percentage of character usage*

    *not counting Ken

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1472407455 Charles Lupula

If that were 100% true, the box would just be a huge picture of Ken.

      • http://www.youtube.com/B4ULoveShine Tim_at_where

If it were just Ken on the front, then we’ll only see his flowchart.

    • Wiccan1109

I reckon replace Bison with Sagat, Chun Li with Ken and Ibuki with Juri and you’re right on the money.

      • raymk

I think most of you missed the joke. I think he’s saying that because yun and yang are top tier in ssf4 along with fei-long so only like 5 characters will be played.

  • https://twitter.com/#!/Ojsinnerz Firo_Prochainezo

Guess SSF4AE will be the SF game I’ll buy.

    • daizyujin

Well if you waited, this is the best time to jump on.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1472407455 Charles Lupula

$15 for the DLC? That’s a good price. It’s what I figured it would be. I’ll be downloading it.

  • Istillduno

TBH if the disk retails at the same price as SSFIV did I’d probably go for that, it’s easier to take a disk to a friend’s place than lugging a whole ps3 or faffing around with accounts and stuff for DLC and since we has no spcial edition of super in the UK, there’s no reason not to trade it in against AE over here.

  • http://twitter.com/ChestnutBowl Chestnut Bowl

Any news on the PC required specs?

    • daizyujin

I also would like to know this. My PC is hardly new, but it ran SFIV pretty well. I usually got around 30fps constant. I am imagining this will be similar as there are not really many graphical upgrades (if any) to Super when comparing my PS3 copies.

  • nyobzoo

well Amazon still gives me $15 trade in credits for SSFIV. I might trade my in now and get SSFIVAE for $25

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1472407455 Charles Lupula

Why not only spend $15 and get the DLC?

      • eilegz

because the disc version might have extras, an its always better to hav the physical disc

        • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1472407455 Charles Lupula

No, it’s not always better to have a physical disc. Especially in the case of a game where you’d have bought three physical discs if you wanted to keep up with it completely. I still think SSFIV itself should’ve just been DLC, but they had all the technical reasons why they didn’t do that.

Besides, what hypothetical extras do you really think Capcom are going to put in this? Do you really believe all the costumes will be free on this? Come on. And miss out on all the money they’d make charging you guys for them?

          • http://photovoltaik.bandcamp.com/ Ujn Hunter

You realize your DLC is DRM protected right? The disc is better. You can play it at your friends house or even give it to your friend when you are no longer playing.

          • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1472407455 Charles Lupula

My local friends own the game too and they’re all planning on downloading the DLC anyway, so it’s not a big deal. And I would never just GIVE a game away to someone else when I’m not playing it. I don’t buy games I won’t play long term. Part of why I have such a big backlog is that I’ll go back and play a game after I’ve beaten it. I just platinumed Bayonetta a few months back and I had that on launch day.

  • http://whatistheexcel.com/ Excel-2012

    3DS version?????

  • http://twitter.com/EdgeKun Ed Powell

$15 for 4x (well, 3 and a half?) characters? Yeah, I think I’m pretty okay with paying this actually. Much better than half of us were expecting of Capcom, that’s for sure.

As for the PC version, might have to grab that on a Steam sale. I’ve been a bit of a PC fantard lately, and all the better if i can move even more titles (so to speak) from my 360 to PC! Give it GFWL with cross-console multiplayer and i’m sold.

    • daizyujin

The original had it along with achievements so it is a very good possibility.

      • http://twitter.com/EdgeKun Ed Powell

I know the original had GFWL and 360 achievements, I just didn’t know if PC SF4ers could play against 360 SF4ers, etc. However SF4 PC worked though, I’m expecting the same out of this release.

  • Arcm

I’ll buy the disc version if it includes the costume DLC

  • RagnaXBL

Well damm looks like capcom came through…

  • PrinceHeir

    awesome :D

    retail version FTW ^^

ALL of the costume packs, and the new characters, modes, and balance changes on 1 disc :P

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1472407455 Charles Lupula

Well, I think the costumes will be on the disk, but, you’ll probably still have to pay to unlock them, via DLC. This is Capcom, remember…

  • http://twitter.com/gabriel_may_uk Gabriel May

“Finally, the PC version – yes, this will be the Arcade Edition as well – will be released in July”

Can’t wait to see what the modders will do :D

  • PrinceHeir

also why didn’t they used this for the cover art instead?

    http://i52.tinypic.com/2dl6uk7.jpg

just put the logo Super Street Fighter IV AE on the middle and you have a badass cover :)

  • shion16

I just noticed someting in the box art

    what happened to Yang shirt??

  • Code

rar, hey that’s pretty slick, I totally called the DLC price, a few posts ago >w<' I'm glad to see it come to retailers too though.

  • http://twitter.com/#!/kaishou Kaishou

1200 points for AE… okay fair enough.

  • thebanditking

Hmm now the question is do I re-buy this (Again!) so I have all the content on a disc or do I just buy the DLC…I will say I am amazed that this is getting another release at retail.
