Aksys confirmed North America is on track to receive the BlazBlue: Continuum Shift update in May too. Version 1.03 balances the game to the latest version of BlazBlue: Continuum Shift II. You can get up to speed on the changes by firing up challenge mode, which has new content to take on.

Here’s a list of all the changes in BlazBlue: Continuum Shift version 1.03.

BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Update Details

-New character Platinum the Trinity added

-Game balance updated to BlazBlue: Continuum Shift II

-New achievements and trophies added for the character Platinum the Trinity

-All Challenge Mode combos updated for character changes

She will not have a story mode in BlazBlue: Continuum Shift, but one purchase unlcoks all of her colors, the Unlimited version, and new achievements/trophies to earn. Platinum the Trinity costs $7.99 on the PlayStation Store or 560 Microsoft Points ($7).

  • 7 bucks for one character? and this is an update which makes continuum shift 1 play like number 2? i think i will just buy CS II and be straight.. imma get the 3DS version in hopes of some streetpass features.

    • Ugh. Haven’t we had this stupid “OMG, $7 is SOOOOO EXPENSIVE!” “conversation” twice already? Let it go.

      I guess if you really want to spend $40 for a whole new copy of what is essentially the same game, in special, low res handheld mode, feel free, but I’d rather pay $7 for the new character and play on my TV.

    Its a shame about the story mode though…

    • Natat

      There isn’t much missing, actually. Just two short stories (without fights) that give a bit of extra background.

      • Which, as I said earlier, means they have even less reason to not patch it in.

  • Well that’s nice and all, but I’m still kinda disappointed here, hope they will add the story too soon after the patch…these expensive DLC characters should at least be playable in more than just versus..

    • They were in the story, they just lacked their own individual stories and honestly only platinum I could see would stand to benefit from one.

      • Code

        Agreed, to me Makoto, and Valkenhyann’s stories are pretty clear through experience other character’s storyline, I think having there own stories during CS events would only be redundant, since Makoto’s storyline is pretty much entirely visible through playing Noel, Tager and Tsubaki’s stories, and Valkenhyann through Rachel’s story. Platinum is about the only character who seems to be missing in action for the bulk of the events in CS, outside of a brief encounter with Ragna opo;

      They’ll get their own stories in the sequel, but they’re already in story mode.

    Love that their still actively working on improving online latency for a game that’s already been released and isn’t likely to sell new copies. Would pay money for this patch, but it’s free, which is awesome.

    Wish other fighting game companies would do the same, but I get the feeling spending dev costs on netcode improvements to a game that’s already sold what it likely will is never going to happen. This is a bit vexing when knowing Namco/Capcom fighters sell so well and have pretty trashy online. Arc System works rocks, even though I’d still probably prefer a new GG to BB.

    Pleeeeeeeeeeeease don’t let this be delayed like Valk was for oh so long. ;_;
    So freaking hyped for this release. :3

    BBCS’ story mode was pretty complete, paving the way for BB2 (Continuum Shift was considered 1.5) storywise. Adding story modes could work, but doesn’t seem necessary.

    Anyway, here’s to hopin for arcade mode on DLC characters. Tis one of my favorite ways to practice, just blasting through arcade mode. (And sadly I can’t do this yet with Werewolf butler. D: )

    • Unless they do a future patch, you still won’t be doing arcade mode with Valk.

  • Code

    Hooray it is a CSII patch >www<;;

    • Aiddon

      the new plot lines in CS2 actually have nothing to do with the new characters. One is just about Jin, Noel, Makoto, and Tsubaki during their academy years while another is about Kokonoe and Relius back in the day

  • PrinceHeir

    awesome :D

    though as mention, there’s still no story mode for the new characters. guess will wait for a retail released of CSII or update.

    • PurpleDoom

      I personally think it’s a safe bet that the new stories are going to remain exclusive to the portable versions. If they were going to put them in the console game, they would have done it with this update.

      • PrinceHeir

        well they could wait for a year for that update to come up

  • Very annoyed at the lack of story for the DLC character or even the ability to play them in Arcade mode. I can’t learn a character just by playing in versus mode where if I don’t know how to play with them, some Hakumen will just do a massive rushdown combo on me before I can even figure out what I’m supposed to be doing. Aksys, it’s really just one step forward, two steps back with you.

    But I have been waiting for them to patch Rachel so she’s useful again, so I guess I’ll be playing again. The story mode stuff though really annoys me, especially since people are saying it’s some simple non-interactive stuff. All the easier to patch in, I say!

    Let’s hope this is not the last patch for the game.

    • Aiddon

      uh, there’s a REASON that Training Mode and the ability to play against the computer in Versus Mode exist. That’s how I learned to use Valkenhayn. And Makoto

      • Yes, I am aware of them, having pretty much been forced to use them, as that’s the only way I can even begin to learn those characters single-player. It’s a very poor substitute for Arcade mode. It’s not the same. I mean, how hard would it have been to patch them into Legion mode, at least?

  • Aoshi00

    I would pay a couple dollars more for the stories :(…

  • Day2Day

    Ah yes, Rachel mains!
    Our time has come!!

  • Any news on the United States of America release date? This is awesome though.

  • thaKingRocka

    Ad banners and eight dollars for a single character? Sadly, I’ll have to ignore the CAG price alert that came in notifying me of the game’s drop below $20.
