Konami’s Blades of Time Has Neat “Time Rewind” Feature To Clone Yourself

Birds of Steel isn’t the only game Gaijin Entertainment are developing for Konami. They’re also working on a hack-and-slash game titled Blades of Time, starring Ayumi, a treasure hunter. Ayumi finds herself stuck on a possessed island while searching it for treasure, and discovers it has special powers that she can take for herself.

Wait, Ayumi? That’s the name of the girl in X-Blades, and Gaijin Entertainment worked on that title, too. Yes, Blades of Time sounds like a successor to the game.

Konami say Blades of Times will have huge locales, including jungles, snow areas, ancient cities, temples and sky islands. You’ll have over 40 sets of skills to choose from, spanning melee, tactics, combos, and Order and Chaos magic.

You’ll also be able to perform a cool-sounding “Time Rewind” move that allows Ayumi to produce a clone of herself to help solve puzzles and take down enemies. There’s a dash ability to help you quickly close the distance between yourself and your opponents, too. Finally, Konami say Blades of Time has both cooperative and player vs. player multiplayer modes.

Blades of Time is in development for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Konami are targeting a 2012 release.

This is right up there with Two Worlds 2 for most surprising sequel announcement.

    so x blades sequel?

  • X-Blades was a mediocre game, but I enjoyed it for the little I played it (I got the platinum in it, thanks to Gamefly). This is a surprising sequel though.

  • Lol I didn’t expect to see Ayumi back again….Well hopefully
they fixed what was wrong with the 1st even though I personally
didn’t find the game that bad. It was okishyyy

I really hope this game is better than the first. I wont write this game off just because of X-Blades though. Who knows this one could be really good. Ill be keeping an eye open for this.

  • Barrit

This one looks good so far and has a very different style from the first. With that being said, I wonder if this will be a bit of a “reboot” rather than a direct sequel.

  • Didn’t X-Blades do pretty badly?

X-Blade looked like bad American made Anime

      • [The Hunter] Doomrider

Easily the best description I’ve read for that game.

Haha, so true. The main girl was pretty cool looking, though.

      • Gaijin Entertainment is Russia-based however.  But agreed.

Never played X-Blades but i’ll keep an eye on this.

  • The time rewind thing is actually really really cool. :O You should watch the game mechanics walkthrough to see it in action.
