By Spencer . June 16, 2011 . 10:53pm

Producer Takanobu Terada wasn’t going to let us down. He was hanging out in a sound studio probably putting the finishing touches on this The 2nd Super Robot Taisen OG trailer.

The 2nd Super Robot Taisen OG, the first Super Robot Taisen title for PlayStation 3, will be available on September 29. Namco Bandai have a grand limited edition that includes the entire Super Robot Taisen OG: The Inspector series on Blu-ray.

I think I’ve found my first PS3 game to import! Disappointing that I won’t be able to understand what’s going on, but it still looks like great fun.

The merge of Namco & Bandai is what cause Atlus to be out of the picture

      • Ladius

Not really, Atlus USA localized SRT OGS Endless Frontier in 2009 when Namco and Bandai had already merged.

The lack of Super Robot Taisen OG localizations (and Luminous Arc, Class of Heroes, Kenka Banchou, Summon Night when the brand was still alive, etc) has far more to do with Atlus USA’s new policies, aka bailing out from any non-Atlus jrpg localization (leaving in Japan even Atlus published games like Growlanser and the Sting titles for good measure).

At least we are still getting the SMTPersona games, Catherine and KOF13 (and that, along with Devil Survivor 2, was really an awesome announcement).

          Don’t question my facts.

Banpresto of U.S. was fully dissolved early 2010 and any future publications tothe U.S. would be either solely under Bandai Namco or it’s D3 Publisher division formed in late 2009. Banpresto JPN being absorbed in 2008 (while always being partly owned by Bandai since 1989 before the merge of course), thus causing any future Banpresto Japanese published/developed games to be localized directly under Namco Bandai Holdings if localized at all. Nearest bet after that being U.S. distributor: D3 Publisher, who Namco Bandai Holdings owns most of (95% of it’s stock).

I’m sorry, but I don’t see how that proves your original claim regarding Atlus USA’s impossibility to publish any SRT OG game, aside from the fact that your original post mentioned the merge between Namco and Bandai as the reason.

The fact that Banpresto has been absorbed by Namco Bandai doesn’t mean that their lineup can only be localized by NB or D3. Of course realistically speaking we won’t ever see another SRT title (especially non-OG) localized in the west, but there’s no reason to think NB couldn’t licence one of those titles to Atlus USA, XSEED (which has a great relationship with NB, seeing RGC, Fragile and apparently Solatorobo), NISA (they localized the Ar Tonelico series, which is published by BanprestoNB in Japan) or any other.

They can do whatever they want with their titles, after all, and aside from the Tales series (well, there was the deal with Ubisoft for PSP Eternia and RM1 in Europe) they’ve shown they’re willing to cooperate with niche publishers.

No it doesn’t mean their lineup can only be localized by NB or D3, but it does mean those two have 1st priority and given NB current “fantastic” localization attempts…

            good luck chuck

  • DanteJones

Ahh, good ol’ Kyosuke being a BAMF like always. ;D Atlus NEEDS to bring this over!

  • epy

Usually this is where you would rely on Atlus, but they already passed on the PS2 remake… and a bunch of other stuff….

    • Ladius

Atlus USA hasn’t been reliable for non-Atlus titles since the end of 2009, as sad as it is.

  • Exkaiser

    Mm, dat Grungust Kai.

  • Crimson_Cloud

That looked mighty sexy. High-speed mecha action with good old bouncing in HD glory. Import worthy indeed, although I still feel like begging for localization, hopeless as it might be.

Just 3 words: DAT REVOLVING BUNKER!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously that’s the only move I’ll ever use with Kyousuke now!!! The rest of the vid was great too, I’m loving this camera thing already super dynamic, sadly the game part was too short, want MOAR!!

  • glemtvapen

Disappointing. 2/3 of the PV was wasted on the Blu-Ray anime and the weak CG movie.

The only real high-point of the PV for me was seeing the Blanche Neige in action.

Man this is disappointing i have alot of unused tissues now.

Was expecting more Action scenes but the first part was just “ahh” then second part was “whoa” then third part was “…”

My body will never be ready.

  • SetzerGabbiani

Hmm…I have mixed feelings about this trailer, but seeing Katina in action made it all worth it.  She’s my favorite character.

Not sure I’m feeling some of the battle scene animation.

  • KotaroInugami

I never get tired of seeing AltEisen in action :D

  • HarryHodd

The gameplay parts are jaw dropping.

  • KeyCross

I don´t care who, please someone localize this…

  • Lich King

Yes I agree. Please localize this and the OG and OGs as well. They can localize and make them available on PS3. They don’t have to worry about piracy too since there’s no way to play pirated new games now. :) meaning profits will definitely come in!
