Go On Vacation With The Characters In Growlanser IV: Over Reloaded

By Spencer . June 16, 2011 . 4:58pm

wp_meline_1280Atlus has another new feature for Growlanser IV: Over Reloaded, something the publisher coined the holiday system. In response to fans, Atlus wanted to implement a way for deepen relations between characters. The PSP version lets you spend a vacation away from the plot with the game’s characters.

Speaking of characters… Growlanser IV: Over Reloaded has two more newcomers. Magnus is a student learning from a master swordsman. He’s a man focused on his future and works as Pamela’s escort. Pamela, a new older sister type, saved Magnus’ life. She’s a mercenary that helps the protagonist on the battlefield, but as a mercenary Pamela switches sides.

Growlanser IV: Over Reloaded is overflowing with endings too. Atlus says there are over 40 for players to discover when the game comes out on August 18.

Update: Screenshots of the new characters and vacation mode are up on Famitsu.

  • wonder if she getting an ending as well

wonder if it’s getting a localization as well

    • cj_iwakura

      Signs point to ‘not likely’.

  • Ladius

Ok, this is getting ridiculously awesome. 40 endings, new characters, new paths, new videos, new quests… the Over Reloaded subtitle, as cheesy as it is, is really deserved.

Now, if only Atlus USA would consider localizing it…

I’ll spend my vacation with the bad-ass old man with a bad-ass moustache and a sword! Summer time fun!!

But seriously, spending a vacation with the other characters in the game? Looks like we’ll expect pretty / cute girls in their swimsuits drawn by Satoshi Urushihara. Not that I’m complaining. Just sayin’.

    • It could have new events like that because if i remember correctly this option was in the original game and is your typical “lets rest and talk with someone” that happen in some games after main battles events. Most of them you could see some character just moving around in the town and you speak with them for some optional events or just pick some few choices.

Similar of what you see in the others Growlanser but Growlanser IV has something interesting and is that you can have your own mansion.

      • z_merquise

Oh I see. I didn’t play any Growlanser games yet (please don’t hate me on this) which is why I’m not familiar on the game’s previous features.

    • Suicunesol

      Maybe there’ll be a volleyball minigame. :P

  • Seriously, if someone localizes this in the US I swear that I would buy a PSP just for this.

Then get all those other PSP games that I’ve been putting off, but this would be the straw that broke the camels back.

Ridiculous that you don’t even own a PSP yet

I got a suped up Delorean you can use to go back to 2006 if you’d like

      • Because in MY opinion there hasn’t been a game that has warrented the purchase of the PSP.

Granted there is some good games for it but mostly remakes and stuff that I would like to play but not enough to purchase the PSP. The only one that has me interested is Persona 2: EP cause I haven’t played that. Persona 1, yes on PS1; Persona 3, ya on PS2 and yes I’d like PS3 to play the female version but the ending I heard is the same and all. Star Ocean is another I’d like but I played 2 on PS1 already. Last is Harvest Moon but the one that didn’t make for DS is male only.

So as you can see yes, I’m interested in buying one but not enough until if and when Growlanser IV is localized. I WOULD have one if Growlanser I was but I’m not holding my breath.

        • Ladius

There are really many good reasons for any jrpg fan to buy a PSP: Trails in the Sky (one of the best jrpg this generation, and the sequel has already been confirmed), Ys Seven, Valkyria Chronicles 2, Tactics Ogre LUCT (practically a new game, if you played the PS1 edition), Cladun 1-2, Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, Persona 2 Innocent Sin (not Eternal Punishment, they are two different games and IS only got an English patch, not to mention the PSP edition has many new features), Ys Oath in Felghana (previously playable in English only on PC and with an English patch) and many others are all great games in their own right.

Of course having Growlanser 4 localized would be another great success for the English PSP jrpg lineup, but sadly I fear Atlus USA is going to disappoint us :(

  • PrinceHeir

    Atlus get to work!!!!!!

  • WHAT TH F. IS THIS?! This is just too awesome! wtf T_____T

  • blah blah

    40 ENDINGS?
Atlus is crazy, and I like it.
I love that vacation idea too.

  • Oh, Atlus, 40 endings? FORTY?

Never change, you crazy brilliant company you.

  • Hours

  • kroufonz

maybe atlus usa waiting for growlanser VI port so they can finally bring all unlocalized growlanser to the west:P

and vacation in japanese game usually translate to summer beach/pool and swimsuit:P

  • Crimson_Cloud

What!? Impossible!!! 40!? And vacation with a character? You just killed me with those news! Time to get on my knees and beg Atlus to localize this. How can they let this sparkling gem never touch our shores!?

  • glemtvapen

Can someone tell me how to rip the hi-res Regina from the website?

Can I make a request like that here?

  • annebruce

As someone who regularly uses printable coupons or “Printapon” I think that the show Extreme couponing was not a true reading of how the regular shopper uses coupons. It appears to have been frightening to someone who does not use coupons at all

  • Gimme this. Now.

  • Guest

Everytime I see this artwork I think of that one hentai movie featuring the same artist

  • I dont like that artwork and graphics, but still it from Atlus, so it must be a good game.
