By Spencer . June 29, 2011 . 11:40pm

Capcom shared a new trailer of Resident Evil: Revival Selection with side by side comparisons of Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil: Code Veronica.

Both games will be released on disc in Japan as Resident Evil: Revival Selection on September 8. First print copies of the PlayStation 3 version also includes a digital copy of the Resident Evil archives, which you can read on your PS3 using Sony’s PlayView program. Resident Evil: Revival Selection costs 4,490 yen ($56). Capcom plans to sell both games as separate digital downloads in North America.

It might be my monitor, but the Code Veronica HD clips seemed almost too bright. The darkness is part of what adds to the scare factor! I’m hoping it’s just my screen though. :P

Other than that it’s looking good, check another one on the list of games to get if it comes stateside!

I honestly wouldn’t trust these videos as a true comparison between the HD and normal releases of the games.  I’m sure they make the PS2 quality worse and the HD quality better.

  • The fact they’re going to be digital downloads in the US makes me wonder if they’ll have platinum trophies on PS3, a lot of digital games don’t. A last gen game recently remastered in HD and release as a digital download, Beyond Good & Evil HD, didn’t have one. But with it being a disc-based release in Japan that means they HAVE to have platinum trophies. Wouldn’t make since if they didn’t port the Japanese trophy list over to the US.

Also, with them asking the USD equivalent of $45 (yes, I know the yen is more powerful right now, I’m just talking equivalents) makes me wonder if they’re actually gonna be charging $19.99 a piece for these on the US store, instead of $9.99 or $14.99.

Hmmmm not as remastered as i wanted them to be… they still look horrible.
oh well still two of my favorite games on ps3 so definitely a purchase from me

I hope europe gets a box release, I love them boxes

The framerate seems wonky on the HD version.  I almost didn’t notice it until I saw the comparison screen with Krauser.  The keyword is “almost”, because I’m sure I probably wouldn’t have noticed it otherwise.

I hadn’t noticed that. You’re right. If they haven’t improved the framerate, then the whole upgrade notion is gone for me. I actually liked GoW Collection better than 3 just because it ran more smoothly. A game like that really needs 60. RE can do just fine with 30, but if you’re going to do it, do it right.

I would like a retail copy, but I would prefer to have the games’ text in English.. Does the PS3 ver support Move?  I really enjoyed playing the Wii version of RE4 (but not so much RE5 w/ Gold for some reason), the interface was very intuitive.. if not I might just d/l it on the 360 as I prefer 360 controller for shooters…  This would be me beating RE4 for the first time, never did beat the Wii ver because I’m too chicken *.*…

When you look back at games like Code Veronica you really notice how graphics have improved.

    • lostinblue

On the other hand when you look at a six and a half year old game like RE4 is…

  • RE4 barely looks like an improvement. Yes it is an improvement but considering that RE4 is already on what? 4 other consoles…

  • I really hope to find an English-language release at retail either in Asia or Europe… I’m definitely interested (esp. “CODE: Veronica”), but if I’m going to spend the money on a game, it’s physical media for me or nothing. There’s no chance I’ll ever purchase DL-only versions. (The day physical media releases stop is the day I stop new game purchases… yeah, I dislike them that much.)

  • MrRobbyM

Port this too the WiiU with Wiimote-nunchuck controls and color me interested.

  • I would have loved to get Code Veronica. But unless it is a on a disc no buy for me unfortunately.

“Both games will be released on disc in Japan as Resident Evil: Revival Selection”

And again, screw you Capcom USA.

  • eilegz

not interested in this “HD port” its more like a smooth upscale and some anti aliasing but thats all…

  • Get the girl

i would love a box for these aswell
