Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk-2 Came Up When I Talked With Idea Factory

By Spencer . July 4, 2011 . 2:35am

I met up with Idea Factory this past weekend and since it’s a hot topic on Siliconera, I asked about bringing Hyperdimesnion Neptunia Mk-2 to North America.

"I read your interview with Mr. Akenaga saying no problem," said Damien Urvois, Business Development Manager. "You know, I called him right away to say the contract is ready anytime. It all depends on the fans. The title is not even released in Japan, we will release it next month."

"The title is so nice, so funny with all of the cameos we’ve done. Especially with Atelier, NIS, with Prinny, and also the participation of Mr. Inafune with the Creator’s Sword. There are so many gags and cameos in the game and we would like to see the title released in the United States."

"Maryo" and Enoch from El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron appearing in the Twitter-like interface are some of the gags Damien was talking about. We’ve seen the Atelier cameos with pies all over the screen, but I think the Prinny information is new.

Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk. 2 will be available in Japan on August 18. The limited edition comes with these figures of Nepgear and Neptune.

    I’m ready for the awesome.

  • Wonder what nickname Nepgear will have since Neptune was Nep-nep

When we almost certainly get the game (leaving a 0.01% chance we are not just in case) I would love a special edition with those figurines, they’re so awesome! A figma would be more awesome, but those can be kind of expensive.

  • XypherCode

    Oooyeh! m/

  • Klarktastic

I finished the first one yesterday, MY BODY IS READY FOR MORE MOE

    • punkchobit

what level did you end up? Seeing the DLC request ungodly levels like 8000 scare me away from even bothering… I don’t have 8000 hours….

  • After playing through the first game, I’m somewhat skeptical about getting hyped. That said, I really like the art, so I’ll probably grab the game just for that.

  • maxchain

I’ll pony up again if it happens.  It’s the right thing to do.

  • Ladius

I preordered the Japanese limited edition, but I’m ready to support the localized version whenever it’s out :) Can’t wait to see Maryo and Inafune’s silly beam XD

Jokes aside, seeing the informations available Neptunia MK2 looks like a big step up for Idea Factory in the visual department, and with an improved battle system and tons of lollerific cameos I’m sure I will have a blast.

Making this a title both lollerific and LOLIrific!

      • punkchobit

Ha! I see what you did there.

  • Make the contract, NISA!

    • Ravage27

Nooooo don’t listen to Kyubei! :p

On a serious note, i really really love NISA’s business model. Unlike some idiot companies who requires fans to beg and grovel to bring games over, NISA is willing to take risks in order to profit.

Dear Namco/NoA, you will never EVER have demand for your ‘niche’ franchises if you don’t take the effort to build a fanbase by RELEASING those games in the first place!

  • xhunter

Oh god, this game is looking good and so are the chances of a North American release. So awesome.

  • A smile came to me when I read this =)

  • Darkrise

Nice to know that we’re getting anwsered pretty quickly, looking forward to M-kII, though I still need to beat the 1st one…

  • Natat

Haha, I love how with games like these we usually are like “NISA, please bring this here!”, but Neptunia MK-2 seems so… sure to come here, lol.

  • Rihawf

They are pretty much saying “Why they are even asking? The game will be in NA OBVIOUSLY!” :333

  • Shinji Kazuya

I wish we would get a Limited Edition with those two figures. So cute!

    • punkchobit

Same here. I loved the last one, got me the deck of cards that came with the first 1000 orders too.

  • Guest

How could he forget Segata Sanshiro?

Also I woulda liked Megazone 23 Aoi Garland characters and Last Rebellion

  • CrimsonDX

We MUST have this game over here :D

  • MizuMikomi

“It all depends on the fans.”

Are you kidding me? If that’s all it take, then it’s obviously coming. And even though I already have my Limited Edition pre-ordered,  I still plan on supporting NISA with their release as well.

The fan demand for the game is more than obvious, so it’s only a matter of time. Who’s willing to bet it will be announced around Halloween just like the first game?

Also, Spencer, you called “Neptune” “Neptunia” again… Lol

    • blah blah

He calls games by their English names once they’re created.

      • MizuMikomi

I don’t think you get what I was saying… so I will explain.

The games name is Hyperdimension Neptunia; short for Neptune Mania. And I like the fact they use the localized name for articles about mk2. It’s much more convenient that reading “Chou Jigen Game Neptune Mk2” all the time.

What I was pointing out however is that he called the character, “Neptune”, the name of the localized game, “Neptunia”. It’s a common mistake; as I have come too notice… everywhere, but it bugs me for some reason…

Probably because the Character name =/= the game’s Title. The figures aren’t based off the game’s title, they are based off of both games main characters: Neptune, and Nepgear.

But I see it’s been changed since it used too say:

“The limited edition comes with these figures of Nepgear and Neptunia.”

        and now it says:

“The limited edition comes with these figures of Nepgear and Neptune.”

I wasn’t complaining, I was just pointing out a small mistake is all. =)

    • Yeah my mistake. I’ve gotten into a habit of calling everything “Neptune” “Neptunia” thanks for the correction :)

      • MizuMikomi

Not a problem, as I said below, it’s become sort of a pet peeve for me.
But I can understand why you’ve gotten into a habit like that.

So, I guess that it’s kind of like how I have a habit of calling the localized version of the game: “Hyper Dimension Neptune” or “Neptune” instead of “Hyperdimension Neptunia” or “Neptunia”. =P

  • AzureNova

I must have my loli goddess! >_<

  • Covnam

Wow, Siliconera has some nice connections and sway.
Well, the game sold as well in the US as in Japan (at least according to VGChartz…), so hopefully that is enough of a fan response right there.

  • punkchobit

I’ll buy the limited edition, just get it out here!

    • Kai2591

      Same here!

  • blah blah

    Urvois Damien?
    Is he Japanese?
It just seems odd to me that such a tiny JP company has non-JP staff.

    • Kai2591

Yeah i was wondering about that too..curious…
