Konami’s Yearly PSP Yu-Gi-Oh 5D’s Game Is In The Cards

By Spencer . July 13, 2011 . 8:40am

imageJump has news on this year’s portable Yu-Gi-Oh game. Yu-Gi-Oh 5D’s Tag Force 6 has 42 duelists. Newcomers include Bruno and Rex Goodwin.

If you played last year’s game you can use your save data in Yu-Gi-Oh 5D’s Tag Force 6. Your character’s name and deck recipes move over to the new game. Fans also get a DP bonus (2000DP per duelist level) and a starting deck with one card for every nine of specific type obtained from the previous title.

Konami also announced a link feature for Tag Force 5 that unlocks Gattling Ogre, Neos Spiral, and Jinzo cards to use plus makes Dark Signer an opponent. Speaking of cards, Yu-Gi-Oh 5D’s Tag Force 6 comes with Sonic Warrior, Influence Dragon, and Crimson Blader cards for the real life card game.

A tip of the hat to Lea for consistently sending Yu-Gi-Oh game info to us.

I enjoy these games a lot but cant you guys please make a PS3 version? i’d love to play online vs other people n the world, leave the psp and bring on a PS3 version!

    • Jok Jokoko

  • I am /so/ angry about the special stuff in this one from the save data use.

See, I was going to get Tag Force 5, but then I heard that they completely ripped out all of the extra characters and made it so ONLY the first page main characters would be partnerable, in the American version. I found this insulting since they never did that before, so I never bought it.

… then they pull stuff like this. 2000 x Duelist level? Free cards? Deck recipe transfer? And it isn’t even UMD reading!

I guess I’ll be trying to get this one though, at least. I want Bruno to tag with me.

    • The game was still fun though.

    • Exkaiser

What do you mean only the main characters were partnerable? I partnered up with a lot of non-first page and non-main characters.

And, well, if you want the extra stuff you can just download a TF5 save file.

  • Herok

as much as i love 5ds i thought they would make a zexal based game this year

    • Actually I pretty much predicted this would be a 5D’s game– after all, there were three GX games for Tag Force, and the third one was done post-5D’s start, when we already had synchros coming out.

I think Konami tries to do as least one old series game before going with the current series in order to cover any last story adaptations. (Thus why this will probably have up to the Tenors and the sort, like how Tag Force 3 had Darkness)

    • Xeahnort

I bet that the next 3 tag force games will be based on Zexal.

  • Spencer officially wins at article headlines.

  • Xeahnort

I’m glad to see another Tag Force but it would be nice if Konami  add the option for turbo duels, edit your Main Character with the red hat like in WCS and keep the original voice acting.

  • Great, now I hope that this year they add it to the PSN and please release it in the US.  I love the Tag Force games even if I only ever beat storyline with one character (but I still get over 50 hours of playtime out of it, lol).  I am so going to transfer and hope to keep using my Stardust Dragon Assault Mode deck. I love Assault Mode cards.

    • Haha, still trying to make a decent Assault Mode deck. Still using my Blackwing+Spellcasters deck, and Dark Plant deck.

We can’t get the import games we want but we get bombarded by these games

  • I like this game, but I don’t think I am going to get 6. There sure are a lot of cards to collect. I’ll just wait until the 3ds one comes out.

  • Natat

I’m so relieved that this game turned out to be 5D’s, I really miss it lol.
ALthough I kinda expected it, considering Tag Force 3, and nice to finally see Godwin in the game.
My only problem with the US version of these games is making the Tier 2 and 3 characters’ story so generic, I’ve read that the japanese versions have some sort of real stories, and unique dialogue when doing those minigames (This for Tier 3 chars), as with the Tier 1 characters.

  • Nice to see that those who poured hours into TF5 get something in the new game.

…But I’m still a bit disappointed that Tag Force 3 (the GX one) never came out in North America. Maybe I’m weird, but I liked GX the most out of all the Yu-Gi-Oh! series.

    • AnimeRemix

Your not weird, because I also liked GX the most out of the others! And I’m still sad about Tag Force 3 not coming over to America also. =(

    • I loved the GX ones too. I did end up importing Tag Force 3 though. I needed by yearly Tag Force fix.

  • imma buy this.. still need to buy 2011 on DS!

  • Skeima

wow great i think my duelist level can cover up my deck recipes.

  • DDanny

Nice, really liked the last 2 Tag Force games for the somewhat mature story and being able to partner with the villains. It’s just sad that the next TF game will probably be with those horrible characters from the new YGO show…

  • Crimson_Cloud

Love Tag Force series, I just wish they changed the Red Heat dude and gave you option to make your own character like in those Championship Tournament series on DS. And they should really update the AI and the difficulty. I don’t mind when game is being hard, I hate it when it’s being cheap.

  • no psn release = a no buy. Until next time Konami. MGS CQC MGS with CQC.

  • Learii

great i can’t wait  for it too bad they never let tag force  do  turbo duel

  • darkfox1

Heh heh card games on motorcycles. So silly

  • I was going to play it but sadly there isnt the bike races from the DS versions of Yugioh.
I loved those race and bike customization, why not in the psp version too? =(

    • Id take tag dueling, more cards, and nicer presentation with great FMV cutscenes than bike races. Fortunately with different yugioh experiences on multiple platforms it caters to the desires of fans.

    • I wish they would use the WC Character creation in Tag Force, and have actual cutscenes for your character in duels like the other characters.

  • heartless141

oh god talk about this, we need a yugioh game on Vita launch with augmented reality NOW! all you need is preparing a table!

  • puchinri

I always wanted to play a YGO game, especially one of the newer ones, but I never know which to pick up. I’m guessing the last game would be good to pick up? (Or maybe start earlier?)

    • Zero_Destiny

For me The best thing about the card game is how much it’s changed over the years. I haven’t played it since I was younger but I think it’s a lot better now with all the new summons. I’ve never played the Tag Force games so I can’t speak for them but I enjoy the World Championship games on the GBA and DS. I’m thinking of getting the newest game in that series 2011 Over the Nexus since it has Wi-Fi and I can play people online. I say get a newer one probably a 5D’s game since then you can do a Synchro Summon (a new game mechanic introduced into the card game with 5D’s).

      • Synchro Summons were introduced before 5D’s in the Yugioh GX Tag Force games specifically Tag Force 3.

        • Zero_Destiny

I never played the Tag Force games so I don’t know. lol But Synchro Summons were first introduced in the 5D’s anime (which came out half a year before the game you mentioned) and the 5D’s version of the Collectable Card Game. Which once again launched before the game you mentioned.  It’s a 5D’s thing. It’s exclusive to the 5D’s card game and by extension is can also be used in the Xyz card game. I guess they just added Synchro Summons to the GX games to keep it up to date but it’s still a 5D’s thing. Anyways I meant the 5D’s version of the card game really. So it looks like GX Tag Force 3 has that in it. There’s an option too I guess. ^_^

          • Oh well, I was talking about the games, thanks for the info, never saw the anime since beyond half of GX.

          • Zero_Destiny

No problem. :D Oh you never saw the last half of GX man? GX is my favorite anime in the series. You gotta watch it some day. Judai (or Jaden in the English versions I guess) has a lot to go through in the 2nd half and changes a lot. The third season is a total mindf**k at times but that’s part of what makes it so awesome. You totally have to watch the later parts. Plus some of the best Openings are in the 3rd and 4th season. XD

      • puchinri

Yeah, it’s really weird. I’ve watched basically every season of YGO by now (obviously have missed some eps and watched a little in Japanese here and mostly in English around there) but keeping up with the changes is crazy.

Thanks! I’ll look into those then.

    • Because youre playing as an original character, you dont really need to worry about the storyline. Like 5D’s Tag Force 5 essentially ignored everything that happened in 4, in my experience. I usually just go for the game that has the most cards, because I find the game is amazing in variety.

Always just go for the newest one because of the cards, any on the handhelds are good to play.

      • puchinri

Ah, I actually hadn’t considered the storyline. I just thought that since you can use some of your data (apparently?) it might be better to start there. x’D

        I see. Thanks~.

  • Yessssss another one of Konami’s 5D’s Dating Sims in disguise.

I just love giving them gifts, filling their hearts to max, and having them follow me around in game. Then they greet me and request that we go out on a date. Err I mean tag team.

  • PrinceHeir

    love 5D’s :)

  • Why is there still no Playstation 3 game yet. Serious yugioh has been on virtually every modern system and handheld now but nope no PS3. We could use the psnetwork to have fun duels and stuff. Nothing fancy no 3d monster graphics
