Pre-order Persona 2: Innocent Sin For A Mini Soundtrack CD [Update]

By Ishaan . July 28, 2011 . 9:56am

Japan got a mini soundtrack CD alongside the first shipment of Persona 2: Innocent Sin. Today, Atlus USA announced that the U.S. is getting one, too. The free mini soundtrack CD will include 10 tracks, including tracks from composer Shoji Meguro’s re-arranged soundtrack for the PSP version, tracks from the original game, and one previously unreleased track. It will be included with launch copies of Innocent Sin.

Announced retailers that are offering the soundtrack CD are Gamestop Canada and Amazon (both U.S. and Canada). Gamestop’s U.S. store hasn’t been mentioned so far, and they don’t list the soundtrack CD on their site either. You can wait to pick up a launch copy, but Atlus recommend pre-ordering to make sure you get one with the soundtrack.

While Atlus USA haven’t officially announced a release date for Persona 2: Innocent Sin yet, we’ve seen various retailers list it for a September release. If that really is the case, Innocent Sin will be released in English just five months after its Japanese release in April.

Update: Gamestop in the U.S. now list the mini soundtrack CD on their website as well. Thanks to RivalShadeX for the heads up!

Yeah I’ve seen at the septenber date forever at work. A mini soundtrack is definitely welcomed. I mean who says no to more Shoji Meguro anyway?

  • Kaoro

Holy crap that CD cover is soooooo goooooood. Wish that was the game cover too :)

  • While indeed it is awesome that we get a soundtrack I have to say that 10 tracks is pretty small. I hope it has the best tracks in the game.

  • :C Wishing it were the full OST rather than a mini-sampler. (ie more akin to the PSP Persona remake) Oh well, better than nothing of the musical variety~!

  • Mister_Nep

Ah yay. Was waiting for a goodie to pop up. Alright I’ll be buying the physical copy first, and the digital copy when it price drops.

  • SerendipityX

*q* Pretty art! But man my wallet can’t much more of this in September with all these great games comin’ out.

  • Advent_Andaryu

I would be more interested in this game if they completely remade it from the ground up. As a Persona fan that got into the series with P3 and P4, going back to this seems like it would be really hard and really outdated.

I want the chance to experience this game, but after playing later entries first it makes it kind of hard to go back.

    • well I started out with Persona 2 eternal punishment and It’s better than P3 or even P4 ,unless you are more focused on social links than story itself you should be able to enjoy older persona titles

      • DDanny

Exactly, story and characters are pretty much better in both P2, while gameplay isn’t as it’s a tad slow and may be boring to some.

  • Sick. Take my money Atlus.

  • Gamestop US does now say that the game will come with the bonus stuff. I was getting worried too since I actually just pre-ordered mine two days ago.
I was hoping for something a little more interesting than another mini-sampler CD, but it is better than nothing.

  • I think it’s just early copies, has nothing to do with preorder.  I scored myself the original buff box version of persona 1 years after it was released on amazon from some seller selling it for $28 brand new.  I’ll still preorder though.  It will match my persona 1 box.

    • YsyDoesIt

My brain compels me to do the same.  There’s something appealing about all the “box” sets available for PSP games.

  • Room201

I love being spoiled by Atlus with their pre-order freebies.

  • Trisagion

    ♥ P2/OST

  • Kitestwinblades

Atlus is so awesome, they deserve their own section on every site. Do they even miss localizing anything these days? I’m already a faithful.

    • puchinri

As long as we get Nora, then, they don’t miss localizing anything as far as I know. x’D
(And I already appreciate them, but I’m still hoping we get Nora so I can really, really love them.)

  • I haven’t played a single persona game before. Is this a good place to start? Also the biggest draw for me is a good story, how does the person series fare in that respect?

    •  My experience is on Persona 3 and 4 and I can tell you at least that those are two of the most story-extensive games I have ever played. The story in both are freaking amazing too. If story is your biggest draw in a game, I’m amazed that you haven’t gotten into the series yet.

  • Chow

I sampled the P2IS soundtrack at some point, and from what I can tell, aside from the opening theme, all the music is the same but with different instruments.  I was expecting different music like P1 had.

I guess you can say that I learned that “re-arrangement” doesn’t mean “new”. Whoops. XD

  • William Carpenter

Is anyone else having a hard time finding Persona 2 on Amazon? Both it and Tales of Graces disappeared, can’t seem to find them to pre-order…

EDIT: Nevermind, found Persona 2 following links on Siliconera. Still won’t show up from search results, but whatever. Now to find ToG…

  • D’aw, I was hoping for the Seven Sisters PSP pouch.

An OST is good, but…only 10 tracks though? They better be the best-est tracks…

  • puchinri

    Just ten? :|
Well, glad we’re getting it either way, and that it has a nice case.

By the way, how long is our wait now for P4P and P5~?

  • Oh boy! Another game I have to pre-order. I can’t wait to finally play this. The only Persona game I have to play is finally being released stateside. Exciting!

  • OMG I have so many pre-orders…
Atlus did a great job with porting the other two so I will definitely have to get this.

  • I hope Europe also gets this game with some bonuses as well :)

  • vivaluis59

What do they mean by “mini” soundtrack??? This made me want to pre order it because i was planning to download it from Psn but im thinking about it and what do they mean by “Mini” is it like the one that comes with persona 4?

    • YsyDoesIt

It’s probably one of those mini-discs that are GameCube disc-sized.

      • vivaluis59

        i hope that was a joke….
oh well i guess ill just buy it from psn then.
