Five Years Later, The Legend Of Heroes: Trails In The Sky Moves 200,000 Units

trailsskyHappy (almost) 5th birthday to The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky. Falcom released the PSP version in Japan back in September 2006. When the game launched The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky had an initial shipment of 30,000 units. Now, the single title that spawned a series of its own reached 200,000 copies. It isn’t clear if this figure also includes North American sales.

Falcom has quite a fanbase now since The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Blue, the next game in the series, already passed 200,000 retail orders and it doesn’t come out in Japan until September 29.

  • Fully deserved. The more people that experience the sheer awesomeness of this title the better. Keep up the good work Falcom, I have high expectations of you.

Hopefully the American version moves 1,000,000 units !!

Yeah I know it’s wishful thinking, whatcha gonna do about it? :3

Seriously though, I hope XSEED does good releasing this fine JRPG series and I am really looking forward to the next chapter. I <3 Joshua and Estelle, and Cassius is Solid Snake with a moustache :3 Olivier is also awesome. And Kloe is soooooo MOE…. <3 <3 <3

    • A single RPG from JPN not named Final Fantasy moving 1mln units? Is that possible?

      • Thomas Maloney

I dunno. Ever heard of Pokemon?

        • Haha for Pokemon, the minimum would be 10 million.

      • I hope a Shin Megami Tensei game does it….one day.

  • dahuuuundge

Trails in the Sky is one of the best JRPG I have ever played. SC is such a perfect conclusion to the story, and TC is an awesome addition that adds more story to one of its side characters.

  • I hope it is still on the digital services when PS Vita arrives. I do not want to miss this franchise.

    • mikanko

But the first games don’t have voice acting ;p

      • Thomas Maloney

        and your point is…?

        • Tsuna does not like to play games unvoiced.~

        • mikanko

Knowing Tsuna is a little silly on said topic.  Just poking harmless fun, hence the winky face ;p

      • It has a metacritic score of 80, so is at the very minimum that I would get a game, so I assume that lack thereof voice acting doesnt really inhibit it from being a good game. I just hope the writing is outstanding to make me forget its unvoicedness.

  • Well deserved.  The US version was my favourite release this year so far even before we got the rights for the EU.

  • I’m really happy and all, I mean it’s one of my favorite PSP franchises, but is 200.000 that good for 5 years?

    • Thomas Maloney

For a small developer? Of course it is :V

  • This is a little bit deceptive; remember that they’re ONLY talking about the PSP version of Trails FC. The PC version was released way back in 2004, and has also sold a fair number of copies (that’s why the print run for the PSP was so low at first, they didn’t know how well it’d sell on the new platform).

Remember, the three Sky games have sold over a million copies already:

And that’s not counting the Crossbell games, Zero and Ao. So things are even rosier than they might appear… and for a game in Japan, 200k after five years is one hell of a “sales tail”.

    • Nice catch there.  =p

But still, yeah, hope it sells well here as a whole.

  • Cool! Now, let’s make sure the same happens for the U.S. release ;)
Better yet, it’s on sale on Amazon right now:
