PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Is Sony’s Take On Super Smash Bros.

By Ishaan . April 26, 2012 . 10:33pm

SuperBot Entertainment, a new Sony-exclusive developer in Culver, California, are working on a PlayStation 3 game titled PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. Similar to Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. series, All Stars will feature Sony characters battling it out against each other. You can take your first look at the game in a Gametrailers GTTV feature below:

    Welcome back Parappa

    • d19xx

He and Lammy must be really tough to hit in this game due to their paper thin physique..

  • Domii

Sorry guys the video doesn’t seem to work, but lucky for me I seen it already. Very interesting game. We shall see how it plays out.

  • popyea

Is the katamari franchise owned by sony? I’d love to play as the prince!

    • Code

      Nope, it’s owned by Namco.

      • popyea

Damn, that rules out a few things I thought may have been included.

  • Draculoid

Still not quite sure how I feel about this. I’ve always thought of/ joked about a Sony brawler but seeingit in action, i’m not quite sure if the characters have the same charm as Nintendo. I’ll keep my eyes glued to this one and see what happens.

  •  They best have Crash Bandicoot and original Spyro.

    • Kirbysuperstar2

      They’re Universal properties, not Sony.

      • SlashZaku

They say 3rd party characters will be there so there is a chance.

      • They say 3rd party characters will be there so there is a chance.Second

  • Muffum

Toro for final boss. Clearly the only option.

  • MrSirFeatherFang

    Wild Arms? yeah right…

  • I’m a hardcore Smash Bros. player and i think, this game looks exactly the same as SB.Too bad Snake is not there(.
I’d like to see Kevin Butler as final boss or Kaz Hirai .

    • SlashZaku

3rd party characters are coming according to Superbot so I think there is a good chance Snake will be there.

  • This game makes me:

    1) Wanna play Smash Bros
    2) Hoping Smash Bros 3D / U are released soon

  • Repede91

If I can be a car from Wipeout/Gran Turismo I`m on board.

Hellghast grunt would be cool too.

    • puchinri

That would be. . . really awesome actually. Especially a car from Wipeout.

  • It looks so similar to smash bros its not even funny. I hope they make a solid character roster and some original ideas to go with it.

  • This probably isn’t going to be very successful. What Super Smash Bros has going for it is that a huge chunk of the characters they use have deep cultural roots so familiar that even people who never play video games know who Mario, Link, Zelda and Samus are. For many, those are the first characters they think of when they think “video games.”

Sony doesn’t have that. Probably the closest they have to a mascot people would remember is Crash Bandicoot. And Crash hasn’t been used (at least not in any way people have noticed) in a long time. The second closest thing uniquely associated with Sony is Uncharted, with Metal Gear Solid pretty close.

They might be able to make the game, but none of Sony’s characters really have the cultural penetration needed to make a game like this comparable to Super Smash Bros. They should have spent more time on making new IPs, and really pushing the main characters of those IPs into pop culture, before pursuing this kind of game.

    • LunarKnite

      You forgot Kratos.

    • malek86

Pretty much this. Sony properties sell due to being good, but their characters don’t really factor into it. Uncharted does rely a bit more on its main character, but Nathan Drake doesn’t have a specific enough design. He feels like he would be more at home in some sort of Virtua Fighter cameo rather than a crossover game.

      • Nemesis_Dawn

I have to disagree on Sony’s characters not factoring into it, unless you’re talking about something like Killzone or Resistance where I doubt people care about anything except shooting stuff. But Kratos and Sweet Tooth and yes, Drake, are iconic characters, even if they haven’t been around for 30 years. I wouldn’t play a God of War game without Kratos in it. I’m actually a bit iffy on the prequel being before he was a raging sociopath, as that’s what makes the character so much fun.

    • Code

Kind of agree, although I don’t think there’s any really fixing such an issue, Nintendo’s cultivated it’s characters/series for nearly 30 years, barely anyone can compete, certainly none of the other 1st parties o~o; Even Sony’s oldest IP’s aren’t nearly as memorable by comparison, which really makes this glaring fault so very apparent; it’s going to be a real uphill battle to make this game work.

  • pockystix

    Y’know what?

Add some Dark Cloud characters, and I’ll rent it o 3o

  • ArcadiaSymphonia

Forget about having a fangasm im having a full on bloody faneriod (fan period)! This is one of those things was so obvious was going to happen but once you see it you still cant believe it!

  • I know this topic is about Playstation All Stars Battle Royale but instead I’m actually more interested in Ghost Recon….

    • ShawnOtakuSomething

    • kroufonz

hahaha i know how you feel, i feel the same way when watching those gttv episode

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

I want to make fun of this really badly but  the more I look at it the more it makes fun of its self. I bet theres going to be a CoD character Nazi zombie in it just to make the CoD fans buy it

  • XypherCode

    Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS

  • Should I be surprised?

  • Code

Overall comes across as rather unspectacular, which is a shame because I love these kind of cameo-crossovers that bring lots of characters together o3o; Maybe it’ll prove me wrong, but just overall I feel like Sony’s series are so distant from each other in appeal, that it leaves the whole thing kind of jarring. When you look at Nintendo series, you can kind of see them as one universe, maybe it’s because of Nintendo’s encompassing style/approach to its series that makes it work for them; but whatever it is, it’s something Sony’s more independently developed series just ultimately lacks.

    You know what company I’d love to see do a cross-over fighter? Nippon Ichi, that’s a company I think that has the character base and style, that could really make a great cross-over fighter >w<;

    • puchinri

A NIS crossover game would really make sense. But I could see them having to play with time travel or something to make some of it work for characters I’d want to see together (the Marl’s Kingdom/Rhapsody crowd with certain Disgaea characters, etc).

Technically, they’re close enough as it is since there are cameos in the games. They just need an actual fighting/party game.

      • Code

        Disgaea series has always made the cameos work, so I think they could easily blend all the worlds easy enough, made an interesting story. A lot of the foot work is already established, given all the cameos of characters between games already >w<;;

        I've thought a lot on this before, “Prinny Can I really be the Hero?” was what originally made it cross my mind o3o; But yeah I’d have loved to see an ASW style, over the top fighter, with characters from all NIS’s in-house series >w<;;

        • puchinri

Yeah~. That’s the bonus for NIS, even seemingly unrelated games have a crossover of some sort. (My only thing would be crossing Rhapsody, La Pucelle and a Disgaea title would initially seem implausible, but it wouldn’t be hard for them to do.)

Lets hope that they will do one at some point in the near future~!

  • It looks SO familiar…

  • darkraiders

First it was Mario Kart not too long ago and now Super Smash…

    What’s next pokemon ?

    • ArcadiaSymphonia

No new super playstation bros 2!

  • kroufonz

meh, i love playstation but this doesn’t get me excited at all.

from the revealed character and stages it would probably dominated by sony western IP,

cmon sony gimme more character from your japanese franchise not just parapa and patapon and it will be day one depending on final roster! :

    some of scej owned ip:
    Demon Soul
    Dark cloud 1 & 2
    Alundra 1 & 2
    Siren series
    Wild Arms 1-5 & XF
    Rogue galaxy
    The Legend of Dragoon
    Legaia series
    White knight chronicle 1,2 origin
    Jeanne d arc
    over my dead body
    Siren series
    Arc the lad series
    gravity daze

    • RmanX1000

      Rouge Galaxy was localized….? <_<

      • ShawnOtakuSomething

yes it was  in gamestop its about $15 you should pick it up

        • RmanX1000

I have played it. I was just pointing out thats its not a JP exclusive IP. The original comment implied that it was…

          • kroufonz

sorry I am not try to imply it as JP exclusive IP but more like the game country of origin

      • It really wasn’t that good besides having Steve Blum. I’d suggest you play Dark Cloud 2 again.

      • Nemesis_Dawn

It was, but it falls apart towards the middle and just gets worse and worse as it continues. Had a great beginning, but that’s it.

    • Patapon, Parappa and Hot Shots Golf are in there in some way or another. But the reason it’s probably going to be dominated by Sony’s western properties is because their western properties are for the most part way more recognizable than their Japanese ones. Japanese third party franchises like Final Fantasy and Metal Gear are associated with the PlayStation brand more than most of Sony Japan’s own stuff is.

    • Nyandroid

OH. MY. GOD! Legend of Dragoon characters would just be epic! I would just have to see that! King Albert, Dart and Meru! And maybe even Lloyd.

      • icecoffemix

        Bah, Lavitz >>> Albert.

I wanna see him stab Lloyd in the chest.

    • Most of those you mentioned aren’t even 1st party properties and are owned by either Level-5, From Software or some others.

Legend of Dragoon would be a sick choice though.

      • Nemesis_Dawn

I don’t know about any of the PSP titles, but White Knight Chronicles, Dark Cloud, Rogue Galaxy, Demon’s Souls, and Wild Arms are all Sony-owned IP’s. Level 5 and From and a couple others may have made the games, but Sony owns them and can use the characters if they want. Don’t you remember the interview last year where Level 5 were saying that it was up to Sony if there was going to be a Dark Cloud 3, not them.

      • kroufonz

Nope they are sony IP it just developed by 3rd party!

also unfortunately some of them NOT published by SCEA in the US. some of them published by third party in the US

not really sure about popolocrois tough, also not too sure about arc the lad (since it get a wsc game)

      • SlashZaku

As mentioned, Sony owns the IPs, the other studios just worked on them as the developer.  Hino (L5) has said he’s wanted to do another Dark Cloud but Sony is the IP holder and has to green light.  Same for Jeanne D’arc, Rogue Galaxy and White Knight: Sony holds those IPs despite Level-5 developing the titles (much like Sony holds the rights to Ratchet & Resistance but Insomniac, who was independent, was the developer).

    • Guest

       FF7 Cloud

  • This feels incredibly forced and really awkward, especially with characters like Sweet Tooth, that one Killzone guy and Drake. Some of them don’t have really defining characteristics, moves or even the charm of Nintendo characters. Many of these characters clash with each others’ styles in a way Smash doesn’t. Having Kratos in MK9 worked, but having him fight Parappa the Rappa? Eh. Not so much. I think the only company that could do worse in a crossover like this would be Microsoft.

Feels like a lazy cash grab.

    • RmanX1000

I agree with the Microsoft part. They have almost no major IPs of their own other than Halo, Gears of War, and Fable. I mean for christs sake they had to BUY RARE to get some exclusives!

    • raymk

Hey they worked with what they had and of course they wouldn’t live up to nintendo standards.  Also I knew that people would write it off without even playing the game.

  • Nitraion

If only the Playstasion char list is as intresting as project X Zone…

  • What the hell is Fat Princess and whats with the host’s obsession with… it?

    • Nyandroid

Fat Princess is a game released on the PSP.

      • and PS3…

        • Nyandroid

I wasn’t aware of a ps3 version. Never seen it.

          • It’s a download-only psn game…

          • Nyandroid

That probably explains why I haven’t seen it then. I have seen a physical copy for the psp.

          • Nemesis_Dawn

The funny thing is I had no idea there was a PSP version.

          • Nyandroid
          • Nemesis_Dawn

There’s no need to point me to a link for it. I don’t own a PSP nor will I be buying one. I have a Vita that I play every now and then, and the majority of my gaming is on my PS3 and 360.

  • RmanX1000

Include Spike or Jimmy from Ape Escape and this game is gold for me. I’d buy this if i had a PS3.

    • puchinri

Honestly, Ape Escape is almost the only first party Sony title that I know – or at least bother to remember.

      • The fact that Ape Escape is the only first party Sony title you “know or bother to remember” makes what you’re saying here, invalid.

        • puchinri

What. . .? It’s one of the few titles I know of that is developed by Sony in-house (as far as 1st party titles go). I don’t see what difference it makes really except that characters from it are who I’d want/expect to see. x’D

  • ecchisquirrel

Wow, this is such a shameless copy I’m surprised Zynga didn’t do it first.

    • d19xx

Stop it! You’re giving them ideas. >:(

      • kroufonz

just you wait gameloft would do it too

  • kroufonz

they say there will be 3rd party chara (which will probably some FF character, dante, snake, RE charcter plus big western one like ezio and probably crash & spyro)

the third 3rd party chara probably only from bigger publisher /dev, it would be nice if there will also chara from niche developer that mainly developing for playstation (Gust,Nis, aquaplus, falcom etc)

i doubt it but, prinny or rorona sounds nice,or noire/blackheart in this would be awesome a playstation on playstation game) this could also boost some interest for core japanese market

    • EDIT – Too much stupid in these comments.

      • Nemesis_Dawn

Somehow, I feel like it’s different when it’s a crossover game put together by a first party developer, since Sony do deal with all of the third parties directly. I think really, any 3rd party character associated with the Playstation brand is fair game right now.

        • kroufonz

that also the reason that make me think it is possible securing crossover deal with some niche playstation centric developer. at the same time being a scea game also negate this possibility, maybe a scej published cross over game would be more likely to include these niche character)

      • kroufonz

what the hell million 3rd party dream fighter!, looks like we aren’t on the same wave length here and you’re missing the entire point bro!

it is sony that said there will be third party character and I am only saying what possibly could be in, several 3rd party character is really not out of question at all! ezio are in soul calibur already, snake is on smash bros etc

      • Nemesis_Dawn

Oh, don’t put yourself down like that. You’re just having a grumpy day. Happens to everyone.
You need a puppy or a hug or something.

    • Nemesis_Dawn

I don’t see Ezio making it to the game simply because he’s never been a Playstation-only character. I can see Cloud, Sephiroth, Snake, Dante, and probably Crash & Spyro, maybe some GTA III/Vice City characters). I’d also love to see some NISA characters there, but somehow I don’t think we will.

      • Some third-party characters have been in playstation ads and ezio included in it too… Don’t rule out the possibility of him appearing just yet….

    • If they include noire/blackheart, they should put it as free DLC since most people are turned off by HNeptunia… We download the DLC because it’s optional and people, who are turned off, are happy that it isn’t on their disc…

      So it’s a win-win situation….

    • Guest

       Kiryu from Yakuza

      • kroufonz

ah yes i forgot about this bad ass

    • SlashZaku

I’d like to see them add someone from Valkyria Chronicles, preferably Selvaria.  I think it’ll be interesting to see who they add from their SCEJ catalog first to even gauge the 3rd party offerings outside of the ones you mention (Dante, some FF character, someone maybe from RE, etc.).  If they throw in someone from Legend of Dragoon (Dart or Rose) or Dark Cloud, then we’ll see.

  • Nemesis_Dawn

When I first heard about this, I was pretty excited, because I think Sony have the best first party characters out of the three right now. However, I think making it a blatant Smash Brothers rip-off was a huge mistake. I was so hoping this would play like an actual fighting game and not a party game. Sony’s characters tend to be a lot more adult orientated than Nintendo’s so I would have assumed they’d realize a slightly more complex fighting system, ala Street Fighter IV or something, would have appealed more to their target demographic.

Worst part is that I’m sure I’m going to have to get this, because the little woman loved Smash Brothers on the N64.

    • Just to clarify, the like I gave you was an accident.

      • icecoffemix

You can unlike someone by clicking the like button again.

        • Thanks, I didn’t know that.

      • Nemesis_Dawn

        I’ll call a press conference.

    • raymk

They stated at the beginning it would be a party game and not a real fighter.  Actually a fighter like this appeals to more people than sf4 seeing as how its easier to play and aimed at everyone like ssb.

      • Nemesis_Dawn

But that’s the whole point, aiming for everyone is the wrong approach for Sony. It works for Nintendo because Nintendo’s characters are never adult characters. Mario isn’t going to punch a guy’s face until his skull caves in. Kirby isn’t a serial killer with a flaming head.

Yes, there are family-orientated Sony characters, but nobody buys a Sony console for Ratchet & Clank. They’re icing on the cake. They’re not the cake. Kratos and Sweet Tooth and Drake, and to a lesser extent, Cole? Those are who you buy a PS3 for, if you’re interested in first party titles.
Aiming for everyone just means a lot of people who are familiar with characters like Kratos just aren’t going to take the game seriously and won’t buy it.

  • ThomasTruong

Considering there’s a seven year gap between Melee and Brawl, and what’s looking to be a five year gap at the least for the next iteration, I’m going to be one of the few that’s interested and hopeful in how this turns out. At least it will fill the gap between SSB titles.
The market of crossover party-fighters isn’t exactly oversaturated with, what:
This, Super Smash Brothers, DreamMixTV World Fighters, Jump Ultimate Stars, and that PS2 Onimusha game.

If anything, competition in this genre will pressure Nintendo to make a better Smash Brothers, which will be a win-win.

  • Godmars

This is Super Smash Bros. As done on a next gen system. As done on something more supped up than the Wii.

Not trying to be inflammatory, just obvious.

Between this towards the end and MGS4 at the beginning, there’s is/was something wrong with this gaming generation. Its taken too long for it to become creative, and even then its not by much.

    • Code

You know what gets me; SSBB’s visually still looks better opo; Maybe it’s still a ways from getting that much needed polish, but it looks sloppy at the moment. I think if they wanna roll with this, they are going to have to push the visuals a whole lot higher then this.

      • Guest

         not an HD video

      •  the visual’s are fine this isnt a race for, who can make the best ghapically master piece this is an all star fighting game you should worry if the game is fun not graphically good

        • Code

Believe me gameplay is first in my books, and the important factor; but when your being outdone by a game from 4 years ago on a system weaker by a wide margin. I think gives me under laying concerns about the overall quality. That being said this video seems pretty early in development, I figure it’ll get polished a lot in the next few months o3o~

Yep I know that >w<; besides SSBB isn't HD either. But this isn't about HD/not HD; the visuals in there current state are kind of weak considering the PS3 can definitely push harder.

Haha sorry, I meant a wide margin. All fixed now o3o~

          • Dantis

             Marginally weaker system?

    • ShinGundam

Nothing wrong with this generation, for example, Bandai made two smash clones before this one.

  • Sam

The end boss will be a giant rubber duck.

    • RmanX1000

Or a giant enemy crab. You’ll hafta flip it over and attack its weak point… for massive damage.

      • Kitestwinblades

Oh yeah, you mean the one from those ancient battles in japan that actually happen right? XD I also got the rubber duck reference.
        you two are hilarious! X3

  • My interest in this game has gone after watched the video.
If Lightning appears in this game then we talk.

    • Dantis

Considering that Lightning isn’t a Playstation character, you shouldn’t hold your breath.

    • Nitraion

if were you i chose silveria…..

      • SlashZaku

If Selvaria makes it in, I’d say that’d be great.  I’m wondering how much room they’ll spare for 3rd party characters though.  I figure Square and Capcom may soak up whatever slots (Cloud/Sephiroth which people always harp for along with Dante and maybe Megaman).

  • Suicunesol

I’m not opposed to crossover games like this, but the fact that it looks and plays shamefully similarly to SSB just highlights the developers’ sheer lack of creativity. They could have done any kind of game design they wanted, but they had to do it this way? ~_~

    • raymk

Well there’s only a few ways they could have went about it, either doing it like super smash bro or like powerstone and that’s just about it.

      • puchinri

That would have been really cool if it was like Power Stone actually.
        (I was thinking TvC/MvC though.)

        • ForteWily

I would have liked that to be honest, Power Stone and Power Stone 2 is the type of fighting game that remains unexplored. What I see here…. *sigh* there has to be more than what I am looking at.

          • puchinri

Very true. That would have been a much better choice for them, I think.

  • Zeidge

    Waiting for my dream fighter.

    Everyone VS Everything.

    • SeventhEvening

Came out a while ago. It’s called Mugen.

Haruhi vs. Michael Jackson. Abe vs. Mario. It has everything.

      • Zeidge

As much as I applaud Mugen for allowing people to make their own characters, it will never have everything significant in existence and properly made.

Unobtainable dreams are of the best kind.

  • OverlordZetta

Man, what’s with all the hate here? I’m stoked. Can’t wait for it.

    • Two major reasons, I think:

      1) It has the same fighting system as Smash Bros. This isn’t a very good reason to hate IMO, as Smash Bros. was not the first game with that system.

      2) People are blinded by their nostalgia for Nintendo. As someone who grew up on Sony and not Nintendo, I see it from the other side of the fence. While I do think there’s merit to the arguement that Sony’s characters aren’t as established or well-known as Nintendo’s, I don’t believe that Nintendo’s characters mesh better in Smash Bros. than Sony’s will in Battle Royale. They’re just different types of casts completely.

I also want to say I honestly don’t care if it’s a “rip-off” or “unoriginal”, get some 3rd party characters in there and this is the game I’ve been dreaming of for years.

      • ForteWily

I think that those two issues bring up a bigger concern, simply put… with what we have been given, you have to ask the question, is that all there is to the game. I hope that it isn’t…

In either case, with the way that this game is being presented… it does look like a one-for-one clone of the Smash-series. So I can’t say that the sudden noise is completely unfounded. Nor completely rapped in the rose tint of nostalgia. It is simply to state the obvious, and that in itself is a problem because that is the last way that you want to start the conversation about your product, being compared to the established competitor.

As for myself, I think that outside of preferred characters (Either Sly Cooper or Carmelita Fox) there are some core gameplay concerns, how is movement? Are there items, if any what are they? What options do you have on the defensive? etc. And to tie that all in, what does this game do that is different than smash? I am not talking functional changes to gameplay elements(like being rid of FUCKING PRATFALLS aka triping), I am not talking better on-line play (and frankly, that one is way too easy) , I am talking at the core of the game… what is the one thing that PSASBR can say that SSB’s can’t do, has never explored or simply overlooked? So far… I can’t say that is has anything that jumps out at me on that front.

That said, it’s a fighting game. As a fan, I will play it… but if none of those concerns are addressed, I expect to not hear of the game for long.

  • I’ve been looking forward to a game like this with these characters for so long! But already, the Nintendo fanboys are whining.

    • puchinri

I’d say voicing valid opinions and maybe some complaints rather than whining.

      • Overly praising a company and bashing another company for this is not “valid”.

        • puchinri

I don’t think most people are bashing Sony. They’re just rightfully saying that this looks a lot like a copy/rip-off. And it does. That doesn’t mean they’re praising Nintendo either.

Some people certainly are, but a number of people are just pointing out the obvious, and there’s nothing fanboy/girl-ish about that at all. Calling it for what it is doesn’t mean that most of them are even saying the game will bad either. Isn’t it kind of bashing the fans back by saying that they’re whining (on top of calling them fanboys), by the way? That doesn’t help anyone. ono

          • All RPGs, shooters, and other types of games are like each other in lots of ways, especially in the case of rpgs. While very similar, that doesn’t make this a “rip-off”.

          • puchinri

Well, I won’t say it’s a direct rip-off, but that it borrows so heavily on many layers doesn’t help its case. The announcer in the back even sounds the exact same. A lot of it goes beyond just being similar or just a crossover fighting game to looking like someone tried to make SSB, but wanted to make cosmetic changes so as not to be entirely confused with the former.

I personally just feel like they could have tried some signficantly different design aspects and formats with this more suited to Sony’s style rather than. . . immediately making me think of SSB.

As I read through the comments before watching the vid, I thought that maybe people were exaggerating. But when I actually watched it. . . well, I was kind of confused and confounded to realize that they were not kidding or exaggerating.

          • HeatPhoenix

@puchinri:disqus it’s a direct rip-off, it’s got cross-over, off screen flying mechanics, gameplay style and themed stages. It even has its’ own smash ball!

          • puchinri

@HeatPhoenix:disqus Lawl, wut. I did not even notice the smash ball thing going on. x’D

            I was trying to be nice and reword that. But, yeah. Okay. There really isn’t any helping it, is there? x’D;
(I feel like they’re being blatant about it being a rip-off, which is why I didn’t care at first about calling it out as such.)

  • icecoffemix

Oh wow, I can’t wait to play as …Parappa? fighting against …Fat Princess?

  • icecoffemix

Oh wow, I can’t wait to play as …Parappa? fighting against …Fat Princess?

  • Dantis

This looks amazingly terrible. I can’t believe they’re just straight up ripping off Smash Bros.

    • Prinnydoom

In a way he’s already in a fighting game………….yu narukami can use his colour pallet in P4 Arena.

      • Herok

or you could just say aigis is the protag since she is directly in it.

      • Herok

or you could just say aigis is the protag since she is directly in it.

    • RmanX1000

You finished P3 right? If so then you know it technically could not happen.

      • Kratos died at the end of GoW3.
        And Radec committed suicide.

        Next counter argument please.

  • puchinri

Huh. The idea is interesting, but I’d rather see a game with Sony 3rd party titles as a crossover fighter (and a handful of some of the first party characters) and not be such a rip-off of SSB.

I still feel more excited for Anarchy Reigns and the next SSB actually. But maybe I’ll be impressed with this when it actually comes out. Just not seeing or feeling it much right now.

edit : Actually, having it styled more as a beat-em-up/brawler like Anarchy Reigns would suit a number of the characters more to me.

    • Code

Anarchy Reigns did cross my mind too owo; You know what’s funny to me, Anarchy Reign’s very few cameos already have gone a world further then Sony’s last 15 years pretty much. I’m with you, I’m fair more excited about it, but these aren’t that comparable >w<; I think this is why an encompassing style is important.

      • puchinri

Haha, glad it wasn’t just me (Scans Daily taught me, “it’s never just you,” though). >u<

Agreed, which is the funny part. And agreed on the style. I mean, even for Nintendo, they have very distinct styles going, and styles can somehow work, but if everything is clashing too hard, it doesn't work much at all.

  • Asura

The combat looks horrid so far. Who are these tourney-level players they spoke of?

    • raymk

The combat looks like super smash bros and people thought that looked horrid before playing it as well.

      • Asura

You have to be blind to think this looks like the first or second super mash bothers. Look at how the movements and attacks are carried out.

As for Brawl, it is horrid, so if it looks like Brawl it’s going to be horrid.

  • This would be great if it weren’t for that fact that I don’t really like any of the first party Sony characters. They’re all kind of the same guy, which probably explains why they chose someone as left field as Fat Princess.

I.. I dunno. If there are lots of third party guys, I’m all down for it. I don’t really mind so much that this is a SSBM rip-off either, because crazy crossover games have been done before.

  • hakumen001

    Well lets think…
    they have The Uncharted characters

and the 2 lovely ladies if they include I2…

    3rd Party

FF characters since SE has been with Sony for decades
    Valkyria Chronicles
    All Nippon Ichi characters

could be fun, despite being a blatant ripoff if the roster is right and they add more to the game… Right now, nothing is different from Smash Brothers… other than 90% of the characters, you dont care for. Im a Sony guy, but most of the best characters on Sony’s console arent 1st party characters. Itll be the 3rd party that will decide the fate of this title.

    • RmanX1000

      FF1-6 were originally Nintendo exclusives.
      FF7-12 were originally Sony exclusives.
      And then it became multi-platform.
I think its on even grounds here.
Not saying i wouldnt want to see a FF character :P

      • Nemesis_Dawn

Nobody associates Cloud and Sephiroth and Tifa and Vivi and all them with any system but Playstation, though. I’d say there’s a good chance we’ll see the FF7 characters, at the very least.

        •  I dont know if Sony will feel like paying Square a bunch of money to get FF characters in the game. Or if the game will work like Brawl did Square will have to pay Sony to put characters in the game, which I doubt.

  • ShadowWolf

    Evil King Stan and Ari.

come on, who here wouldn’t want to see them?

    •  Came here to suggest them too! ^__^

      • ShadowWolf

this guy on Youtube, Alpha Omega Sin, also suggested them.

  • Prinnydoom

How long i have waited for this day and its finally here sony all stars man oh man does this look good. Time for some jak and sly action ^____^

  • I hope they add Hero Prinny from PCIRBTH,or any Disgaea characters like Raspberyl!!!Oh and Sackboy,I just saw the LBP inspired stage but i think it would not be complete without sackboy.

    • heartless141

i don’t think disgaea stuffs belong to sony. NIS just decided to make it a Sony exclusive. so nope, no prinny.
do want a patapon hero though

      • SlashZaku

3rd party characters are coming so that just sounds like who he wants to see.

I’m wondering about Patapon myself.  I’m wondering how many characters/franchises will be represented by stages and not by characters.  And I imagine someone like Sackboy would be maybe similar to SSB’s Kirby and be able to take on his opponent’s power and look.

      • Kitestwinblades

What I would give… to see a Prinny in this type of game.
        They’re practically bomb-omb material lol

Yeah I would like for them to put as much love into this game as possible and get a lot of 3rd party stuff that’s been on Playstation for a while. It COULD happen if they invested in it. Not sure how much they value Disgaea though XD Heres to hoping!

  • heartless141

    • jc0111

The same reasons why PaRappa would fight and be able to be hurt even though he’s literally a flat 2D character ?

They’re throwing logic outta the window for this game, you’re thinking it too hard.

  • Bio_liquid

    YES Parappa is in!!!!

  • Bio_liquid

Please also add ANYONE from the Disgaea series!!

  • Can’t wait for Mario

  • jc0111

    Here’s who’s confirmed:

    Sly Cooper
    Sweet Tooth (Twisted Metal)
    Kratos (God of War)
    Radec (Killzone)
    Fat Princess
    PaRappa the Rapper

Here’s who I wish they add:
    Jak & Daxter
    Ratchet & Clank
    Nariko (Heavenly Sword)
    Nathan Drake (Uncharted)
    Cole MacGrath (inFamous)
    Sackboy (Little Big Planet)
    Leonard (White Knight Chronicles)
    Rau Utu (Mark of Kri)
    Jaster Rogue (Rogue Galaxy)
    Rohn (Lair)
    Wander (Shadow of the Colossus)
    Monkey (Ape Escape)
    Arc (Arc the Lad)
    that poster girl from EverQuest
    Rudy Roughnight (Wild Arms)
    Sir Daniel Fortesque (MediEvil)
    Dart (Legend of Dragoon)
    the sorcerer (Sorcery)
    Sgt. Nathan Hale (Resistance)
    Toan (Dark Cloud)
    Ellen (Folklore)
    UmJammer Lammy
    Vahn (Legend of Legaia)
    Gabriel Logan (Syphon Filter)

Have fun reading that, Sony !

    • RmanX1000

Replace Monkey from Ape Escape with either Spike or Jimmy and we got something to work with.

      • jc0111

        Spike and Jimmy ???

        *goes to Wiki to check*

Oh, so that’s how the main human characters are named (I’m clueless about the series, my bad). Yeah, sure, absolutely, either one would be great addition, especially with the variety of weapons in their arsenals. However, I do demand monkey cameos in one stage, since the stages are actually mash-ups of various games, like God of War & Patapon.

    •  Oh man, I remember Rogue Galaxy and Folklore.
      Good times, good times.
Be nice to see some love for them.

      • thebanditking

That would be awesome, not sure how easy Folklore would be but Level 5’s games should definitely be represented.

        •  At least a stage based on it.

God, this is making me want this to have something like Brawl’s trophies. Even though there’s like no way they can not make that a blatant rip off.

    • yoUNg_grOUp568

i think sora from kingdom hearts world be a nice fit

      • jc0111

        Two words: Square Enix
They are not Sony’s properties. They’re 3rd-parties. Sony would be better selecting characters from their own catalogue BEFORE going with the 3rd-parties. Beside, the Kingdom Hearts series got games on GBA, DS and 3DS, so it’s not Sony’s exclusive.

        • Nemesis_Dawn

Didn’t watch the whole video, did you? Sony said there WILL be third party characters. I want to put the emphasis on the plural, btw.

Personally, I feel like Cloud and Sephiroth are pretty much a given.

        • thebanditking

the majority of Sonic and Metal Gear games were not on Nintendo systems yet Sonic and crew and Snake made it into Smash Bros, hell MGS4 was represented and that has noting to do with Nintendo or Wii. There is no reason Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts should/could not be represented here.

        • yoUNg_grOUp568

calm ur buckets dude, a guy can dream. and kh did start on the ps2 and like thebanditking said sonic and metal gear spent most of there time on other consoles yet they made it to SSBB, so sora or a ff character being in their is plausible. BAM!!!

    • XYZ_JolteonZ980

Cole and Nathan Drake are must haves.

    • Damn…
      Why Rudy…
      Why not Ashley…
Knight Blazer will be the badass chara in that game…

    • Klaus00

omg Leonard from WKC and Dart from LoD GOTTA BE IN!
*imagines clearing the whole field with White Knight Ark & Dragoon Dart*

    • I love you for saying Jaster, although it probably won’t happen. :(

  • So what if this is a rip-off from the Super Smash Brothers series?

I’ve been waiting for this game ever since the first one came out on the N64!

And I’d love to see the following make an appearance:
A Prinny or Laharl from Disgaea
    Musashi from Musashi: Samurai Legend
Max Payne from.. Max Payne [bullet Time as Super Special?]
Old Snake from Metal Gear Solid 4Err.. the Prince, from Persia. :’D
Maaaaybe Megaman X or Kingdom Hearts

And stages..Shadow of the Colossus Stage!

    • Kitestwinblades

Finally XD Someone who likes Musashi from the PS2 version as well- plus Disgaea and the rest of the list is wicked.  I approve of this list BIG TIME.

  • RmanX1000

Persona!? :O other than a rumored 3DS game, and Arena being on 360, its ALL on Sony consoles!

  • Kratos is in the all-star battle!? O__O I hope he ain’t gonna rips people arms off or ripping off there heads

  • Was that the hydra from the first God of War in a location from Ratchet and Clank?

    **** YES

    EDIT: Demon’s Souls Characters please?

    • MrRobbyM

YES PLEASE! I would love to play as a Royalty Knight.

  • jc0111

Mash-up stages… ooooh, this is gonna be fun.

  • KHSoraKeyBlade

I’m literally banging my head against a table here. This is a disgraceful attempt at a game, it is literally just Smash Bros. This game makes me furious that I even supported the Playstation all these years, because well I love Smash Bros and they’ve just ripped the game off and they quite blatantly ripped it off as well. Oh well Sony I’ll take my money elsewhere, call me when LittleBig Planet is out on the Vita or any other game that isn’t this.

    • thebanditking

Yeah because no one copies anyone in this industry, and all companies make are original IP’s lol.

      • KHSoraKeyBlade

Well I know that there will always be games that copy other games in more ways than one but I mean like Sony didn’t even do it subtly (not that other games do it either in some cases).
Plus, one of the producers on the game went on to quote, ‎”You couldn’t imagine a cast of characters this broad co-existing in any other video game, or any other platform for that matter – and that’s a good thing. I think that’s what makes Sony so unique”.
I mean come on. Oh well, I’ll live, it’s only a game after all xD

        • thebanditking

They don’t have to be subtle, in fact direct is the best approach. They want it to look like smash, hell that’s to their benefit it gets the game noticed by association alone. There is no patent on game genres, so there is nothing wrong here. They all borrow off of each other.

    • MrRobbyM

In other news, all turn-based JRPGs are all copying each other. More at 11.

      • Don’t forget others like Football(Fifa/Winning Eleven), Baseball(MLB 2K12/ MLB The Show), Racing(NFS/RidgeRacer/GT/Forza), etc…

The difference is different controls and different skins….

  • Ladius

I’m not really a fan of first party Sony characters, but since I love many series that have been exclusively (or almost exclusively) published on Sony consoles I hope the third party roster is able to pique my interest.
That said, the characters I’m thinking of are probably too niche to be even considered :

  • Angeru_Lito

Calm down people yes it’s a Smash Rip-off so it was Power stone and that game made with characters from Jump anime so who cares? it’s a genre I think is weird but kinda cool they’re pulling all this random ass characters like Parappa or Fat Princess is not like Nintendo didn’t do it , I didn’t know who Marth and Roy where or where they came from Ice Climbers? sure some old 8-bit game from nintendo Kid Icarus? even more random but I’ll take it , smash is a Silly game to have fun with friends the same will be with Sony Battle Royale.

The notion that Nintendo characters are more recgonizable just because they’re cartoony and cute is so stupid if you don’t care about the Sony characters that’s fine I don’t care for some of them either but this is a game made for the fans and the developers will introduce the characters fans wants so I don’t see how this is bad , personally can’t wait to see Nathan Drake using his ‘Oh Crap’ finisher where he slips with a banana peal and dodges a big explotion or something.

  • thebanditking

Fine by me, I love Smash Bros and if this is similar to that then I am all in. Not like a new Smash game will be out any time soon. I just wonder what took them this long to do this they have enough mascots to fill the roster,

Jak & Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, Sly Cooper and cast, Cole, Drake, Kratos, Sir Dan and crew, Parapper, Legend of Dragoon, Wild Arms, Nariko, Toro and Kuro and those are just the ones I remember. Nintendo made the original Smash Bros with a lot less then that.

Now I would like to see Sony up the ante with the third parties, Snake should be in here as should Cloud (FF7) reach out to Activision for Spyro and Universal for Crash, Sega can donate Kazama from Yakuza and Namco should definitely throw in the two from Xillia.

    • kupomogli

I didn’t think of Kazuma. Would love to see him in it.  Characters I’d like to see in the game are Kain(Soul Reaver Legacy of Kain version,) Lara Croft, Ignatius Blackward(Nightmare Creatures,) and Ziggurat 8, KOS-MOS, or Margulis(Xenosaga.)

      • thebanditking

         How about Alundra or Tomba!

        • kupomogli

I’d like to see others, it’s just the ones I listed I’d like to see the most.  Didn’t think of Kazuma until you mentioned it.  He’d be at the top of the list for me.

I wonder if anime games on Playstation systems would be considered?  Vegeta and Kenshiro would make great characters.

          • “Vegeta and Kenshiro would make great characters”

No freaking way. I don’t really want to see my childhood video game heroes get their head blown off after hundreds of punches. Trauma…

        • Kitestwinblades

Ohhhh Tomba! That’s using your pig chucking noggin’ xD
I godda go back and play Alundra.  I’ve heard good things about that one :3

  • Spirit Macardi

Oh Sony, always playing follow-the-leader aren’t you :3

I really have no problem with them making their own take on Smash Bros., but Sony doesn’t have many first-party characters. The only characters that could be in it who I like are Ratchet & Clank and Cole.

They’ll certainly need some third-party inclusions in order to have a roster worthy of Smash Bros. Hell, without third party characters, I doubt their roster would be worthy of even Onimusha: Blade Warriors.

  • Oni123

sooo i guess there will be a stage where you get to beat up snake for cheating on sony in SSB? =)

  • kupomogli

There’s really not a way a round creating a fighting game without copying someone.  If Sony makes a standard side scrolling fighting game, there are a plethora of games that are going to be similar.  Same as if they went with a 3D map, there’s really not much that can be done to make it original without going way out there and alienating their audience.

The Super Smash Bros style works the best as it’s a casual style that works on all levels.  It can be played competitively, but those who aren’t very good at fighting games can also have fun at it as well.  It also works best at allowing the characters to take their original or close to original form and not look completely off.  Look at the transformation Cole Macgrath had to go through to look similar to the character style Street Fighter x Tekken.

Besides.  It’s not like this is the first Super Smash Bros clone.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Smash Up
    DreamMix TV World Fighters
    Digimon Rumble Arena
    Digimon Rumble Arena 2

As a final comment. Doesn’t it go like this? Imitation is the best form of flattery. Mario Kart was never the first kart type racer, but it was the first to be very successful and had a lot of its own ideas implemented. Mario Kart and Smash Bros both have had repeated ripoffs. Does it mean that none of the ripoffs can reach the quality of the original best? There are already some Mario Kart ripoffs better than some, most, of the Mario Kart games.

What about successful gameplay mechanics that Nintendo in turn has copied from these games? Crash Team Racing you were able to boost from drifting. Chocobo Racing has drafting, and although there was no notification of doing so, it was still there, speeding you up as you stayed directly behind an opponent. So no. Nintendo is not the all encompassing creator of every single good idea to come into a video game.

    • Don’t forget that Cartoon Network one.

      • kupomogli

I didnt know there was a Cartoon Network one actually.  There are probably a lot more than what I listed.  The point though was that everyone is going to copy something either popular or good.  If Sony is going to make a mascot game, then the best choice would be to copy the best mascot game over attempting to make an original ip that is probably going to be pretty garbage.

I bet they’ve attempted many different types of styles and they felt the Smash Bros style worked best.

    • thebanditking

Don’t forget the obscure Konami/Hudson one that was released only in Japan on GameCube and I think PS2

      • kupomogli

         That was DreamMix TV.

    • ShawnOtakuSomething

      Don’t forget Battle Stadium D.O.N

    • MrRobbyM

To support your claim, I think Sonic & Sega All Star Racing is better than Mario Kart. That game is so much fun.

  • lol I love how even the UI is the same.

That said, this is bound to be fun. Just expect everyone and their mothers to be using Kratos and Nathan Drake.

    • raymk

and sly cooper, i fact i put money on it that ratchet or sly will be used more if they are good anyway.  I say this because mario wasn’t even used online in ssbb all that much.

  • 3rd party-wise Crash deserves it more than anyone else.  Would be neat to see his original look to add to the nostalgia.

I”m looking out for Dark Cloud and Okage rep.  Ape Escape would be neat too given the tools in the game.

    • Didn’t even think about Ape Escape! Would love to kick ass with Spike.

    • ShadowWolf

      yes! Okage!

  • The problem is: Sony doesn’t own any interesting characters… I can’t think of one cool hero of a Sony game…

    • thebanditking

What? I think you forgot to include a “in my opinion” in there, because I can think of tons.

    • You probably grew up on Nintendo.

  • I just hope it has lots of unlockables.

If not, Smash Bros. is still king of the mountaintop.

EDIT: will still be king anyway, lol.

  • Göran Isacson

I’ll be honest with y’all, I’m torn. On the one hand, I LOVE cross-over games, just the fact they exist makes me all giddy. But so far a lot of the characters feels mismatched, Kratos and Sweet Tooth in the same game as Parappa and Fat Princess feels… weird, when you look at them next to each other. I guess that they still have time to polish the look of the game, but I hope the final product will have the fighters look more… I don’t know what to call it. Organic, next to each other?

Anyhow- all I want here is Legend of Dragoon and Jak and Daxter and Ratchet and Clank. Do this for me Sony, and I will be a very happy camper with your game.

    • MrRobbyM

Pretty much was I was going to say. The stages, the characters, well, the whole general look of the game seems off. Stages look dull and boring. Characters seem like they couldn’t agree on a graphical direction. Fat Princess looks obviously more cartoony than the rest yet still bland.

If you ask me, if you’re going to make a mashup fighting game, it should feel and look *fun*. I think they should have gone with a more cartoony and whimsical look and feel. Make the more realistic looking characters adapt. Not the other way around. That would instantly add loads of charm.

Also, I hope they do more Playstation characters rather than Sony exclusive franchise characters if you know what I mean. A bit of a streach, but I would love to see some Demons’ Souls, .hack, Disgaea, Persona, MGS etc. As of now, it looks a little too catered to western audiences.

      • usagi_san

A bit like how Cole McGrath was moulded to match the Street Fighter style?

        • MrRobbyM

          Exactly. You get it.

          • usagi_san

Nintendo is fortunate that all their characters are truly in-house,except for Snake and Sonic, so they are able to blend really well together. With Sony… not that fortunate, but they could of – like you said – model them towards Fat Princess that way it feels more similar with no contrasting designs.

Never played Demon’s Souls, but would be interesting; shame that .hack and Persona have fighting games coming out soon; Disgaea would be most interesting addition especially with the special moves, dood :D and MGS might not happen due to he’s appearance in SSBM (would’ve been cool, though).

          • MrRobbyM

About Snake, that’s what I was thinking but I have hope since he is a bit more of a Sony character. But yeah, likely not :/

  • ShawnOtakuSomething
  • Eh.

  • Klaus00

    Jade Cocoon 2 : Kahu
    Castlevania : Cornell
Suikoden 2: Raiou and/or Luca Blight
    Rakugaki Showtime: Blue Hair dood
    NIS: Prinny

    that’s all I got for now :|

    • ShadowWolf

Luca Blight would be rather overpowered.

    • Solomon_Kano

Infinite points for suggesting Kahu from Jade Cocoon 2. Holy fudge, my head would explode if he showed up.

  • This actually looks like Digimon Rumble Arena than anything.  Not that many people called THAT game a SSB ripoff.

    • Guest

I agree. Not to mention that DBZ/One Piece/Naruto one. They use HP instead of off-screen deaths.

  • Guest
  • SirRichard

Because they’re not going to just leave him out, the prospect of being allowed to let Kratos wreck Nathan Drake in a happy sunshine world is a tantalising one. Definitely keeping my eye on it.

    • Solomon_Kano

I had forgotten all about Drake, being lost in my dreams of older franchises and all, but it’d be beyond awesome if they put Sully in with Nate.

      That mustache >>>

  • I feel this is the appropriate reaction.

  • karlkablisk

Why is this a smash brothers clone? I could be its own game :/

    •  Because if a game is similar to a more popular game in the same genre, people will automatically draw conclusions, like every JRPG is trying to be Final Fantasy or every FPS is trying to be Call of Duty…

  • Guest

Being very similar to SSB aside, I’ve always been a fan of platform-free-for-all-beat-em-up genres. Good fun with friends.

Now just have to see how it’ll turn out, and ‘pop’ it goes in my bought list.

  • Where’s Spyro and some of the old amazing playstation only characters? Also by Spyro I mean the cool PS1 version not the new retarded ones they’ve been making.

    • Solomon_Kano

With Activision having a grip on him and Crash, sadly, we probably won’t see him. Disappointing, considering how important Spyro was to the PS1 era.

  • pockystix

All I would like are Max and Monica from Dark Cloud 2/Chronicle

and maybe a few Disgaea characters

  • I kind of laughed the idea of such a thing off before, but you know… I’m intrigued. Wasn’t expecting to see Fat Princess, though. At least they’re picking some characters that are surprising.

  • vileBrenman

it’s about time they did this. I wonder how many characters are gonna be in this. and i wonder what characters. I hope crash and spyro are in it and not the current gen versions im talking ps1 era. this game is gonna have a lot of expectations i sure hope sony pulls it of.

    I would like to see:
    1st Party
-Spike, Casi, Kei, Specter, Pipo Monkeys, PM5, Helga and the Dark Monkeys (Ape Escape)
    -Dark Cloud characters
-Ostrava, Executioner Miralda, Yurt, Garl and Selen (Demon’s Souls)
    -Ellen & Keats (Folklore)
-Yoshitsune (Geni: Dawn of the Samurai)
    -Helghast Troop (Killzone)
    -Jeanne (Jeanne D’arc)
    -Legend of the Dragoon characters
    -Chimera (Resistance)
    -Wander (SotC)
    -Sly Cooper
-Drake, Marlowe, Jeff and Talbot (Uncharted
    Third Party
    -Noctis and some FF7-12 chars
    -Tekken chars
    -Kingdom Hearts characters
    -Ar Tonelico characters
    -Atelier characters
    -Disgaea characters
    -Metal Gear characters
-Kazuma Kiryu, Kazumanosuke Kiryu, Shun Akiyama & Masayoshi Tamayura (Yakuza)
    and some others ;P

    • Love you for suggesting Ar Tonelico, Disgaea and Atelier, but it’s not gonna happen. :( It’s too bad. The only characters that are going to be used are probably American franchise characters.

      • amagidyne

Parappa is Japanese and Killzone is actually from the Netherlands. Although since Disgaea got a DS port and the other two are a bit too niche, you’re probably right about them not getting in, sadly.

        • AnimusVox

I’d love to see Hitoshura from ‘Nocturne’ in this.

    • lordroto

As neat as it would be. I find it hard to believe a lot of these japanese ccompanies will entrust their characters to a western company

      • MrRobbyM

        Tell that to Capcom.

        *tears of laughter*

        • Solomon_Kano

Not quite the same. Outsourcing internal IP =/= “lending” characters to another company for use in their game.

Or did I just not get your joke?

          • MrRobbyM

I was just poking fun. I know what outsourcing is :P

          • Solomon_Kano

            Ah. Ok.

        • lordroto

Haha, you got me there. Capcom is ass though. The only decent games they make never leave japan. And if they do, It becomes DLC the game

  • Intriguing… The last crossover beat-em-up fighting game I played was that mess involving Cartoon Network characters… It wasn’t as satisfying as Smash Bros. But this gives me hope for the genre, so I can’t wait to see more in the future!

  • Belphybear

I would love to see something from Wipeout appear in the game; most likely a morphed vehicle (a la Transformers).

  • This must be my lucky day. First Rayman Legends, then this. If they do this right (And I have faith in a sub-studio from Santa Monica Studio!) and choose the right characters, this may become a big hit

  • Set Master

Whoa Parappa the Rapper!!? That’s digging pretty deep XD
Kick, Punch, Its all in the mind~

    Sure I’ll take this Sony.
Show me how many franchises you can cram into this baby.
Everyone likes extra modes too. I mean if you don’t put it in some kind of character bio some people wont even know who the hell Parappa IS and say something like “That Dog with the Hat. Papa-rapa! YEAH, HIM!” Lol

  • Hero_ZaFakeo

Wait, I just thought of a comparison: This is like Battlefield to CoD. No?
Feel free to yell if I’m wrong.

  • Solomon_Kano

Parappa… PARAPPA? If anything could seal the deal on this out the gate, it’s that right there. Why? I don’t even care particularly for Parappa (never played his game), but it shows that they’re digging into the Playstation history.

I don’t know if Sony owns the Rogue Galaxy IP (I mean, they helped in development and published it worldwide), but I swear, SWEAR that if anyone from Rogue Galaxy makes it into here I’m buying two copies. Some Dark Cloud/Chronicle action would be nice too, but Rogue Galaxy would be incredible.

I wonder if this will solely be first-party Sony characters or if it’ll include third-party Playstation franchises in general? If the latter, I look forward to seeing Ratchet & Clank. I wonder if that would cover something more ubiquitous like MGS though? We’ll see, I guess.

    • RupanIII

      ‘never played Parappa’

dude, you should check out Parappa lol music was soo catchy. Come to think of it, I wonder why it’s not on PSN. Um Jammer Lammy is

      • Solomon_Kano

I was wondering that too. I kept seeing Um Jammer Lammy and it was irking me lol. I’ll have to see if I can track down a copy of Parappa on the cheap.

  • Haohmaru HL

even smash bros has a good battle system
and i can’t remember a non-japanese fighting game with a good battle system apart from european killer instinct.
i can’t even wait to laugh at programming goofieness of this smash bros rip-off..
