Persona 2: Eternal Punishment’s Persona 1 Cameos

By Spencer . May 2, 2012 . 12:43am

Two persona users from Shin Megami Tensei: Persona return as playable characters in Persona 2: Eternal Punishment.

Eriko Kirishima can bring her fencing skills and Nike, one of her personas, to Maya’s team.

Kei Nanjo and his persona Aizen Myouou can possibly join your group too. It depends on which rumor you spread during Persona 2: Eternal Punishment.

Wonder if this is coming to the states too.  Just got that Persona 4: Golden announcement from Atlus at 3a.m. est.

No freaking way that is amazing, my vita is gonna get so much love :D

    • Arcm

Yep, as soon as I saw that email I went a head and decided that it’s about time I get a Vita.

I usually wait for a solid rpg or two before I buy a console/handheld and the Vita already has Disgaea 3 out and quite a few others on the way.

      • Yesshua

Any original RPGs we know of yet?  I follow the same rule as you, wait for a few solid RPGs, but I have an extra rule of not counting remakes.  I’m not trying to be super negative here, it just seems silly to me to buy new hardware to play old games.

I am looking forward to a Vita someday.  Does it have any new RPGs lined up yet?  I know of a lot of remakes (Disgaea, FF X, Persona, Other Persona).  Anything new coming to the US yet though?

        • cj_iwakura

Does 999-2/VLR count? Not an RPG, dang good visual novel though.

        • Anime10121

In the same boat as Yesshua!  I would love to own a Vita someday but until some original RPGs hit the thing (and are announced/released for localization) theres no way I’m buying that thing yet.  However I will be purchasing Gravity Rush on release day, waiting for the day I can play it on my Vita.

I’ve learned my lesson with Legends 3 not to buy hardware until the software I want for it releases.  Now the only reason I have a 3DS so far is for Kingdom Hearts and that wont even hit until August basically (July 31).  All the other good games for the 3DS are all upcoming DS games which I still have my lite, so I could have avoided an upgrade to 3DS for a year (bought mine like May last year when Legends 3 Prototype was supposed to be released).

Well, I never finished P4 on ps2, I quit half way since I was got bored. Which is my fault since before P4 came out I marathoned Persona 1, Eternal Punishment, and P3 Fes before hand. So, I was Persona’d out so to say.

But you can tell by my avatar that I love remakes. To me FF X sounds amazing it’s been close to 7 or 8 years since I played it last. Plus, more likely than not it will be the international version that will get a hd remake which was never released in the US.

    • yeah, Atlus how about announcing physical copy of the Persona 2 Eternal Punishment with bonus soundtrack for the US/Canada? I will pre-order right now. I’m serious.

    • Shadow_Raskolnik

Hold on man, Atlus has to hold something back to announce during E3.

  • When’s this coming out already?

  • Raven_Shinobi

I love Kei, but I always preferred Eriko’s route for some reason. The TV station was more enjoyable gameplay-wise than the lab, and her 100 stories contact combo with Ulala and Katsuya/Baofu was fun. I also have a thing for Eriko/MC from the first game, so it made me glad seeing her feelings for him get a bit of focus in there.

I’ve been thinking of replaying Eternal Punishment after finishing P2P: IS, but put it off after hearing the P2P: Batsu announcement, so you’d better not take too long to localize this, Atlus.

    •  Plus we see an scene with the previous main character which is weird in Persona series but seeing Kandori in the lab and his fight against Tatsuya is satisfactory as well.

    • cj_iwakura

The way I see it, Kei’s route connects more to P1(Kandori), Eriko’s is more to P2(Jun’s mother). But yeah, Eriko’s is way more fun.

      • Jun’s mother is merely a cameo in Eriko’s route; her route is more about the Persona protagonist and that Wang Long lady.

        • cj_iwakura

She has an awesome voice in the EP dub, by the way(Wang Long Chizuru).

  • Nanjo persona…… bullet beard…. and why is he wearing tht helmet indoor?

  • AHah yeah, I saw those two on the last released trailer for this game, it’s nice to have ’em back :) Wonder if some more Persona 1 characters will show up for this game?

  • cj_iwakura

I’m not the only one who cares way more about this than Golden, right? (This is the best game in the Persona series, after all.)

    • If this comes out in Europe, then I should buy a PSP because of the P2 games.

      • cj_iwakura

    •  I’m right there with you :D

One of my favorite games/trilogies ever :3

    • You are not alone :D

  • Kei became a tough guy!
Eriko looks ready to work in the Velvet Room :P

  • JazzWithAttitude

Everyone says Kei looks like me…
Anyways i am playing IS but already looking for this one!

  • William Carpenter

It’s been years since I played Eternal Punishment on the PSX and to be perfectly honest I never finished it, but aren’t these guys just temporary party members?

  • if i’m not mistaken, they are temporary party members in much later scenario. both leads to different path, and different persona you get later in the game (either lucifer or satan).

  • Ladius

Can’t wait for Atlus USA’s announcement, after Innocent Sin I already wanted to replay EP, but a revised and expanded version would be absolutely welcome :)

  • RablaAndrews

Elly and Nanjo! Get these two in P4Arena already.

    • Teddie will have to work on enlarging the Midnight Channel reception coverage first :P

      • juyi15

Doubtful. They’re all over thirty years old by this point in-universe.
