The Other Record Of Agarest War 2 Deluxe Edition

Boxshot & Bag

Aksys bundled Record of Agarest War 2 with a couple of "unique" items. Fans can pick up a heart shaped towel, and an art book in North America.

European publisher Ghostlight announced a deluxe pack of their own, which includes a 48-page hardcover art book, six art cards, an A3 size poster, an Agarest 2 baseball cap, a blue Agarest 2 messenger bag, a soundtrack, CD, and a copy of the game for £64.99 ($105).

Ghostlight also has a collector’s edition, which does not include the cap, bag, or soundtrack, but has the other items like the art book and poster for £39.99 ($65). PAL gamers get Record of Agarest War 2 on July 6.

A messenger bag? Man, Ghostlight keeps being epic tier.

  • SirRichard

Fun fact for people outside the UK; £39.99 is the normal RRP, and actually lower than the normal retail price for regular copies of several games these days at retail. GAME, for instance, still charges £33 for Super Mario 3D Land and £45 for Uncharted: Golden Abyss, to say nothing of Activision trying to pull £50 for regular copies of COD titles.

It’s being sold directly from the publisher, that helps, but it’s still impressive that they’re selling a fairly good collector’s edition at a price everywhere else considers the standard edition price. Ghostlight are one of the best publishers we’ve had for some time, and that isn’t an exaggeration.

    • landlock

No one charges £50 for call of duty though it’s £44 everywhere at the moment and will be cheapier by the time the release comes around. Uncharted could have been brought for £29.99 from Amazon UK when the Vita was released aswell. So while the RRP may be high only an idiot when pay that much and not shop around.

      • SirRichard

On the COD thing, that’s what the word trying means, mate. Activision trying to pull an RRP of £50 (even if no-one listened to it) for MW2 was notable enough to catch various gaming new sites’ attention. As for this:

“Uncharted could have been brought for £29.99 from Amazon UK when the Vita was released aswell.”

That’s an out-and-out lie, and I know it is because I watched Amazon UK’s PSV stuff like a hawk for weeks when I was debating getting one in the run-up to the launch. It started at £40 and sits at £35 even now, not just on Amazon but elsewhere online as well.

You can only shop around so much, mate, and mind you I never paid those prices, I’m just noting them.

        • landlock

It did not start at £40 if you pre-ordered early when it was first added it was £29.99 I know because I pre-ordered it myself at the time and that is what I paid at the release.

But basically no game is sold at the RRP.

          • SirRichard

Good for you, but that’s you taking advantage of an early pre-order price, the price was still in the £40-£45 around launch wherever you looked.

          • landlock

It was still being sold for well under the RRP on Amazon at some point when doesn’t matter. These sorts of deals are always for a timed period. Heck gave me £88 back in credit on my PSV pre-order pack that was a big surprise.

    • artemisthemp

NISA are in my opion a better publicer, when it come to PS3 (Yes I am aware of EU and Scandinavia + Polen issue).

      •  Depends. From all I get, Ghostlight brought us a Physical Copy of the first Agarest, while Aksys didnt for the US. Additionally, Ghostlight brought lots of PSP Games available only in USA here as well. Fate/Extra, Persona 3 Portable, Innocent Sin, Trails in the Sky, you name it. When it comes down to European Publishers, Ghostlight wins for me. I do however appreciate NISA and XSEED for bringing Games like Ys and the Atelier series to the West as well.

        • artemisthemp

What Ghostlight brought us was Agarest War 1 pre Dawn, while Aksys brought us Agarest War 1 with Dawn content, so Aksys was better.

Also it’s Tecmo Koei that publish Atelier now, while NISA only does Localize

          • You need to keep in mind that it was Ghostlight, who considered releasing Agarest 1 to the West to begin with. They even did that, when they had their previous name: Midas Entertainment.
And I think you mixed up the Expansions: Agarest 1 had the expansion of Re-Appearance, while Zero had the Expansion Dawn of War, and Dawn of War was included in the European/American Agarest Zero version. As for Re-Appearance, you are right with the fact that Aksys was including it – however, I am more than grateful, that Ghostlight released them physically on PS3 as well. Those collectors make a nice addition to my collection ^^

I know buddy, this news is over 1 year old though. In that time, NISA was responsible for localizing the Arland Series and Atelier in general. Ever since Gust themself got bought by TK, welp, it’s not that rosy anymore.

  • AzureNova

Woooooooooow! Srry wallet, it looks like you’ll be a little lighter this week.

(Goes to order U.S. version and European version) =^_^=

      Pre-order Limited Edition Tuesday :)
Pre-order Deluxe Edition as the first :) today

    • Holy sh—-!

  • Zero Shift

Once again, NA gets screwed over with Collector’s Edition swag…

    • *look at NIS EU release*
      nope, no collector’s/limited edition.

      • artemisthemp

You forget no Avatar, DLC or Disgaea 3: AoD for Scandinavia or Polen

        • *shake your hand* exactly! (not like I know what you’re talking about)

        • To be fair enough though, you can order all items via the NISA Store. And frankly, I spend less money on a Collectors there than paying here for the normal Edition. Atelier Totori is a prime example for that and so is Meruru.

          • SirRichard

Do they do delivery to Europe, though?

          • The games I ordered from their store were Atelier Totori and Disgaea 3 for the Vita (and later on – Meruru Limited) and I live in Germany. I am not sure if there are any exceptions but in most cases they should ship wherever you live in. Better yet, I had to pay for no taxes so far and their shipping costs and delivery speed is more than just good :)

          • SirRichard

Oh, that’s awesome news, I’m going to keep an eye on their store now. Gonna love taking advantage of the £-$ exchange, that’s for sure.

          • it’s cheaper ONLY if the normal edition of the game cost more than £52 (that’s including shipping to the UK or EU if you were to buy it in NIS store) in your own country’s online retail store. I’m calling bs.

          • artemisthemp

I always order NISA Titles (when Possible) from NISA Store, because 1. Only place to get Special Editions (since Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk-2) 2. NISA “Pre-order” bonus. 3. It’s most cheaper than getting a Standard Edition in EU. 4. 1 day earlier access to DLC :)

    • Luna Kazemaru

UHHH what? Most of the time we get things that the EU never even gets.

      • Zero Shift

Ok, I’ll be fair, we do get our nice share of collector’s items. But when EU gets a Collector’s Edition, it always seems like they go all out lol.

        • artemisthemp

I don’t really agree on that one, but let’s for the sake of the argument try having a look on the Special Edition for Agarest War 1.

First picture show the Naughty Edition (US) and second picture show Collector’s Edition (EU)

IMO are the Naughty Edition and must better Special Edition than EU.

  • I wanna punch someone from EU like right now.

  • The Collector’s Edition includes the soundtrack as well, just not bag and cap, according to Ghostlight’s website. :)

    • Yes the Soundtrack is included in the Collector’s Edition if you order diectly from our store.

      • Oh hey Ross!

      • Rossception ! :D
I hope I will get my money around next month. I cross my fingers that it will still be available until then. If it’s possible, could you give us a weekly update about the status of the item ? I couldnt forgive myself if I miss this Edition out T__T

        • I’ll try and let you know if it looks like we’re going to run out.

          • Awesome. I thank thee, man of great deeds.

Edit: Okay, I just jumped the shark and loaned some bucks from my siblings. I happily pre-ordered my Collectors of this Year.

  • Spencer both edition comes with the soundtrack only exclusive if you buy it directly from them as they say in their product page.

  • AokiShizuku

I’d rather a baseball bat rather than a baseball cap.

  • Muffum

Despite normally being a sucker for collector’s editions (the main reason I got Agarest Zero, as silly as it is), the US collector’s edition for Agarest 2 really doesn’t appeal to me at all. This, though…

Alas, I am cursed with a lack of income, and Anarchy Reigns is being released around the same time. I hope the deluxe edition will be available for regular sale instead of just preorder, as silly as such hopes may be.

    • I agree… The deluxe packaging here doesn’t excite me either. Art Books, and OST’s are normal reason I collect. Additional forms or art are things I accept as well. I am kinda creped out by the “blow up doll.” How can I explain something like that without people getting the wrong impression? “Yeah, I got this deluxe set, and it came with a blow up doll in the shape of one of the character. Wait… It’s small! NO! I don’t have a small penis! NO! I am not into small girls either… NO! NO! I do not like large ones! Gah! Just forget about it!”

      • raymk

Its easy just don’t except the blow-up doll or throw it away problem solved.

        • It’s listed on the deluxe packaging. So if it’s missing, I am sure people would be more curious lol.

  • Ghostlight does it again ! Curse you, my wallet cant take this anymore !! :P

  • I like Ghostlight’s package deal better. -_- But then again, I just pre-ordered the main game and that was it.

  • MrKappa

EU always gets the better preorder and LE deals so this is no surprise.

  • Ryan Baer

I’m actually more interested in this one than the American one. I might just import it.

  • ………da Europeanz got da betta pre order.

Humie Translator Bot: I am not going to translate the obvious.

Zog it, da robot iz doin’ it again! Mekboyz! fix it again! Dis time don’t screw up!

  • Zeidge

I can already imagine myself in a fight to the death with my wallet right now.

    *both fatally wounded*
    Wallet: You’re not bad…
Me: You too, but this is my win.

    *grabs money out of it*

    Wallet: AARRRGHHHH!….

Wallet has fallen. You are victorious but not without repercussions…

  • Silver Citizen

    No blow-up doll? *YAWN* Boring~

  • My face is in my palm, and for some reason, I cannot remove it.

  • IshimaruKaito

    what package is america getting??

  • I preordered Record of Agarest War 2 as soon as I could. LE edition. Then this had to arrive and I´m like? What? No please!!

Then I preordered Agarest: Generations of War 2 Deluxe edition…

Why do they keep on competing with such good things that you feel the need to end up with both versions?

    • artemisthemp

I already know I would end up with both EU and US Special Edition :)

      •  For Agarest 1 they had so much different things I just had to have the “naughty edition”. For Agarest Zero it wasn´t that much that I wanted. Now when the t-shirt is sold out from Ghostlight I wanted it :p

But with all these extras for Agarest 2 I just couldn´t hold myself back. I´ll have to sacriface something else instead :p

  • CirnoLakes

I’d be interested in that hat, if it wasn’t one of the most bland and generic hats that I’ve ever seen. It’s like they went to a generic ball-cap shop and requested they put the logo on it. Bleh.

You see that in-game hat? You know, the one on the cover? Now that’s fashion. I’ll take one of those.

  • Bojan Njegomir

  • Julien_N

Did anyone else notice where the awful USK classification logo is on the CD? ='(

    • artemisthemp

It has place it self good :P, but bad for us.
Hopefully final disc won’t have that awful USK logo (try Tweet Ghostlight)

  • Seink Moonlight

    I want a xbox version T_T
