By Ishaan . May 30, 2012 . 4:04pm

Similar to Samurai Warriors 3, Tecmo Koei are releasing an “Empires” version of Dynasty Warriors 7. Set for a PlayStation 3 release, Dynasty Warriors 7: Empires adds Xu Shu to the game. No further details have been announced thus far, but Famitsu.com has the first screens for the game.

Dynasty Warriors 7: Empires will be released in Japan this September. This is the third version of the game, with Dynasty Warriors 7: Xtreme Legends being the second.

Ooooh. A new Empires game. I seem to only be interested in the Empires releases these days. Perhaps its because they feel different and more fun than the main series? I’m not certain–All I know is that when the first Empires release came out, I was addicted.

    • Testsubject909

Higher strategical elements that makes you feel more involved with alternate ending pending your route path and methods of conquest is the immediate thought that comes to mind.

They’re different core experiences despite having the same core battle system. So no it’s not that weird if you prefer the Empires series.

I also like it a lot, but I like it about the same as the regular+Xtreme version (as I see the Xtreme version as just a continuation addition to the regular version).

  • Woot!

  • Samurai_Heart

Let’s hope all the DLC they made for DW7 is compatible as well, like Xtreme Legends.

  • Testsubject909

Look out China! I’m going to UNIFY YOU HARD!

  • Its about time. Dynasty Warriors just isnt complete without both Xtreme Legends and Empires version expansions.

Awesome! i love the empires games~

  • canarinta

Ha! Good thing I didn’t buy Dynasy Warriors 7 yet. Poorness prevails!

  • Christopher Nunes

Will there be a localized version of it? I can’t wait to grab it!

And what about the Samurai Warriors: Empire one? Is that a Japan-exclusive one? I’ve begun to get into the Samurai Warriors series ever since the 3DS game. Hopefully I can get both of Empire version!

I love the Empire versions of the games!

    • haqua

SW3: Empires was confirmed to not be localized a long time ago. I recall it had something to do with funds.

      • Christopher Nunes

Aw, that sucks. How was it anyway? Is it available on the PS3? I might just import it.

        • haqua

I’m not sure how it fared with people, but there is this GameFaqs review if you want to read it:

But yes, it is on the PS3! That much I know.

          • Christopher Nunes

Might import it, if that’s the cast! I loved the 3DS one and the ability to create my own character and place him/her into the SW universe is awesome!

By the way does it have that Romance system like DW6: Empires had? I’m curious, because it was cool to pair my two original characters together.

  • haqua

Oh. I saw a scan earlier and thought it was Ma Dai in some DLC costume! Hm, whoops. Guess I should have noticed the lack of curly hair…

Anyway, definitely going to get this. ♥ …As soon as I get Xtreme Legends and WO3. Sigh.

    • Testsubject909

You going for the retail version of WO3 by importing it from EU or are you going for the digital version?

Wondering a bit since I’m not sure if I can co-op with people who have the US version.

      • haqua

It depends on what’ll be easier for me in the future! I might import, though…

        You probably wouldn’t want to co-op with me, though. u v u
I love this games, but I’m not sure I’m too good at them. (Uuuunless I’m using Ling Tong, Yoshitsune, and Gracia… ~)

        • Testsubject909

I’m fine co-oping with anyone. I don’t rage quit and I’ve no problem playing tutor or bodyguard/tank unlike a lot of other players. If I play co-op, it is for co-op, not for just being able to blaze with greater speed.

edit: The first one you’ll get is Yoshitsune, Ling Tong next and Gracia last.

Yoshitsune is a speed type so you can interrupt his actions at any time with a jump which aids in neverending offensive decimating power plus his special is a boost to his blade causing it to lengthen and strengthen up, he’s a good mainstay. Gracia is supposedly OP according to fans as for Ling Tong, I haven’t used him much, but I used to spam his C4 attack back in D5. If you get the game, I can help you grind for some special effects to weapons. Knowing him, he’d probably need multi and/or echo and possibly Typhoon, and for absolute OP, Brilliance (elemental effect to all attacks if you have full musou).

  • I thought it was a misspelling of Xu Zhu. It looks like he’ll be in Shu, but from his story, he might switch to Wei.

    • Testsubject909

Wouldn’t be the first and only character who belonged to multiple factions.

edit: That said, I predict his alt color will be blue… I wonder why.

  • Haven’t got XL and WO3 yet >.<
I hope they'll make Chinese God Musou with Songoku, Cho Hakkai, Sa Gojo, Nezha, Erlangshen. Would be awesome.

    • Testsubject909

Well… Songoku and Nezha are present in WO3…

      • I know but in separate games with more characters maybe Nezha’s father, Hou Yi, and some demon, etc.

    • Bentan

guan yu is a chinese god now, maybe he quips about his mortal brotherhood days

      • Testsubject909

It’s amusing to know you can find Guan Yu at nearly any chinese corner store in the chinatown section of your city.

  • Guest

I think they should make  DW characters modeled after the likenesses of Alexander Fu Sheng (Chinatown Kid) and  Chiang Sheng (Toad from 5 Deadly Venoms) both deceased actors from those 70’s and 80’s Shaw Brothers kung fu movies.

    • Testsubject909

They might have some problems with acquiring the rights to their likeness, maybe…

  • Guest

Damn you Koei my debt will continue to increase >.<… I will definitely get this when it gets localised and released in Australia or maybe it might end up like Samurai Warriors 3 Empires.

  • And here I thought DW:N is DW7:Empires…. Oh well… I’m buying this day one once it’s localized….

    • Testsubject909

      DW:N is DW7:E Lite portable.

I can’t wait for a full proper Empires… Man this is going to be fun.

  • Ace.Of Hearts♥

KOEI~~ I will get this if it gets localised!!! pleeeeaaassseee make sure it doesn’t share the same fate as Samurai Warriors 3  Empires!T_T  *sniffle* I really want to play with Hanbei and watch  new cutscenes with Hanbei *this is a rant I think eh heh* Why does Xu Shu remind me of Guan Ping crossed with Ma Dai?

    • Testsubject909

Because he’s manly mixed with awesome and smart?

      edit: Appearance wise.

  • Rhayve

Sorry for just asking this instead of doing research, but those familiar with the Xtreme Legends and Empires versions of the Dynasty Warriors games: are they worth it? I’ve only ever bought and played the regular Dynasty/Samurai Warriors and Warriors Orochi games. And the price seems quite steep, considering they’re alost full priced games and require the standard game for Story mode (would have to rebuy DW7 for Ps3).
Are there enough additions to the game to warrant the price? Even if I only want to keep playing with my old DW7 character (Sima Shi)? I more or less know what Xtreme Legends adds, but what exactly does Empires do?
I’ve heard of this Edit Mode and the Empire mode, what do they entail? Should I only buy one version, or is it better to get both? (I really enjoyed DW7’s story mode)

Sorry for the long post, and I hope someone will be generous enough to answer my questions. Thanks~

    • Hating Ass Nigga

Nope they usually aren’t worth it,maybe if you can find DW7 XL budget priced somewhere then yea, but otherwise don’t bother.Empire mode is kinda like a strategy sim somewhat.

Edit mode is also kinda useless since your guy will be a clone of a character already in the game(moveset wise).

If you already have DW7 Or Warriors Orochi 3 then I would just wait for Samurai Warriors 4 Or Dw 8(Or the One Piece Musou game).

    • GVmanX

The Empires installments are worth it, IMO.  They basically mix DW gameplay with strategy over a world map that is similar to Koei’s Romance of the Three Kingdoms strategy game franchise.  They also usually have a fairly in-depth character creator.
Xtreme Legends?  Not so much.  Like the other guy said, if you can find it cheap, go for it.

  • XGriever

i really hope this has EDIT mode, this particular feature in dynasty warrior games is one of the main draw ins for me

    • Testsubject909

Create A Warrior/Edit was available in DW:N, so it’s likely it’ll be present in DW7E.

  • Testsubject909

Ahem… I know it’s useless to say it here but.

Hey Koei? Warriors Orochi 3 Empires? Huh? Huh!? Think about the awesome here! THINK ABOUT THE AWESOME!
