Namco Bandai’s PSN Gundam Game Is Limited To 12 Free Plays A Day

By Spencer . June 14, 2012 . 5:37pm

gundam33Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation is a free to play downloadable Gundam game… but you’re limited to, at most, twelve plays a day. Each time you exit for a mission you need to spend "sortie energy" and you get at most 12 units for each 24 hour period. Players can stock up to three units of sortie energy and after those are used up you have to wait for the energy to recover.

Let’s say you want to jump right in because Amuro Ray sent a text begging for you to save him. Well, you can, but you have to purchase sortie energy with real world money. Namco Bandai will sell sortie energy in bundles which have a cheaper price per unit.

1 unit: 100 yen ($1.25)
6 units: 480 yen ($6)
13 units: 950 yen ($12)
27 units: 1,850 yen ($23)

Gundam level up in the Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation, which lets players use better parts. You can also pay to break level limits and equip stronger parts right away. Using all Mobile Suits costs 300 yen ($3.78), access to the entire arsenal of weapons is 200 yen ($2.52), and all custom parts costs 200 yen ($2.52).

While you have to search for blueprints, all of the weapons in the game will be available for free players. Namco Bandai will not sell any extra Gundam equipment right now.

Well this killed my interest in the game.

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

At least this game allowed u to play for free 12 times there rather than making us biting our nails seeing this game unplayable.T_T

  • MrSirFeatherFang

    Amuro Ray can save himself

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

I thought, Amuro is the one who is going to save me there lol.^^

      • You still have to pay him to be saved, as well.

        • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Damn u Amuro.T_T Since when u changed into money grabbing pilot???

Does staying inside EFSF so long has influenced you.T_T

          • AzuNo17

This must be taking place before Capt. Bright’s lil lecture >:o

          • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

            Amuro: I WANT MONEY NOW!!!!!
            Bright Noa: BRIGHT SLAP!!!

          • neocatzon

            he deserves more Bright slap

          • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Man every pilot here need some bright slap to change them right.T_T Well at least Banagher has the balls not to get some bright slaps but still growing into a mature man there.^^

  • nyobzoo

well they have to make money somehow

  • Hmm So I have to pay him to save him? Interesting. Very, very interesting.

  • Juan Andrés Valencia

I’ve never played over 12 matches of any online shooter in a single day so it’s perfectly fine IMO.

  • hush404

The screenshots look nice. I’m curious about their wording though. Is is 1 energy (or sortie) point per game play session or per mission? If mission, how long are missions?

    • AzuNo17

Sounds like mission to me. In which case, I’m worried what’ll happen if you d/c or if the room is closed mid-battle. (assuming that it’s a P2P server)

  • Mago Iichi

I can play a better F2P gundam game that’s already localized by the name of SD Gundam Capsule Fighter and it has more than just UC Mobile Suits.

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Well, people wanted something more than SD here and of course, UC MS is more balanced for a battle like this consideirng the previous famous Senjou no Kizuna Gundam is also UC series only.^^

  • Japan will eat this up much more faster than an entire capsule dispenser for those MSG toys. I think Namco Bandai got a bad influence from Capcom. I mean, this is worse than Unlock Key DLC. And it is a much more greedier method of Micro-Trancsaction.

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Lololol. No way this is worse than Unlokc Key DLC as that DLC is there inside our disc which we should have own for while this one, it is just the semi F2P game where they allowed the free player to obtain all the weapons that payer get just maybe much more effort there.

  • kupomogli

Looks like I’ll be playing 12 times a day or less.

  • Looks like I won’t be bothering with this game at all.

  • LustEnvy

So with games like this, I guess I’ll limit myself to a few games a day. No way am I paying for matches. That kind of system wouldn’t bode well here. Maybe a set fee for month, but not days, or what have you.

  • omeganeko

So i have to save him, then give him my money……..seems like a flawed business plan to me.

  • Luna Kazemaru

Yeah that just turn off going to have to pass now.

  • Brandonmkii

Well, it IS free to play. You knew they had to charge for something. Still gonna play it, but I don’t think I’ll be buying much dlc, if any.

  • Well its not like I was planning to play that many games. per day. Honestly a game like this would only keep my attention for a few games per day.

  • Setsuna ♥

If Amuro Ray is asking for OUR help its practically asking us to commit suicide …

  • Okay this is getting stupid.

  • Looks like mobage/ social game techniques are seeping into F2P games. On one hand, I’m pretty disappointed, but this is a pretty genius way of gaining cash players. I’ll see how the game turns out.

  • tarbis

Screw Amuro. I’d pay money to see him die in slow agony >=D

  • Revial Albion

I played more than 12 games already without purchasing energy and nothing has happened yet. No refusal of service or anything like that.

  • can you play in the US?
