Sword Art Online: Infinity Moment Is For The MMORPG Curious, But Online Adverse

By Spencer . June 29, 2012 . 2:06am

Following in the footsteps of .hack, Namco Bandai is developing a new faux-MMORPG. Sword Art Online: Infinity Moment is tied to the light novel and upcoming anime series of the same name. Banpresto is making the PSP game, which has an original story and a MMORPG-like interface according to the teaser trailer.

Sword Art Online: Infinity Moment’s genre is a live in the moment with you RPG. Who will you spend the moment with? We’re not sure yet since Namco Bandai hasn’t said anything about the game’s characters yet.

Then im gonna spend the moment with my PSP rather than my VITA! thats it!

Looks a lot like .hack//Link (graphics wise), but the battle seems a little slow and clumsy, I know the video is from a sill-in-development version, but some attack animations doesn’t look fluid, though PSP games are usually a slightly jerky if compared to a PS3 game, still this is one still too jerky, even for the PSP.

But still, I’m interested on this one too, since I liked the Light novel.

And, wow, PSP is almost 8 years old, and even though VITA is out, it still going.
    Yeah, I love my PSP!

    •  The slow speed is a killer. The hero of SAO is awesomely fast…

  • Woot…SAO..
One more life for my psp….

    So…I wonder…
If 1 or more of our party member is dead…
They will be dead permanently or something?

    • ArthurCarvalho

Probably you’ll get game over if Kirito dies, and probably other party members will just be K.O. or unconscious.
I don’t think they’ll do a permanent death, since doing so is quite massive.

Valkyria Chronicles was able to do something like this by not including the mortal characters into the main story line. Still, this system was ditched in both VCII and VCIII. In VCIII almost the whole platoon is part of the main story line which, by the way, makes the game story way better than the disposable plastic soldiers from first one. (of course there were nice chars in the first, but it is really annoying that they made absolutely no difference in the main story)

    Please,character creation.
    Please,character creation.

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

    • Kevadu

The trailer clearly shows Kirito and Asuna so that seems unlikely.

  • IS it online ???????????
    Plizz someone ANSWER ME !!!!!!!!!!!

  • I already plan to watch the anime, would like to see more on the game, and I hope the entire franchise does good enough to rank up to .Hack status as well =^_^=

  • Am I the only one who thought tht kirito look lk Houtarou in tht anime trailer scene? The game looks quite good I’d say.

Who’d I spend my time if I play the game? OFC its with my non-back stabby and sane friends. Or stick with Asuna and Kirito.

after re:digitize, then HXH wonder adventure, then this (also for the PSP one). Oh man bandai namco is getting more badass and very badass :)

  • Darkrise

The combat looks very slow. 0.0 This better not be another quick cash-in.

  • it looks as slow as phantasy star portable in terms of combat, or even slower.

but wait, look! the game got a hint of english text. meaning, localization please! :D

  •  live in the moment with you RPG? What’s that supposed to mean?

  • The combat pacing feels slow, they should have at least adopted the combat mechanics from the original .hack//sign series back on the PS2.

  • I wish have this game is the only game that i buy a psp to have it!!! XD
