Tales of Xillia Announced For North America And Europe [Update]

By Ishaan . July 6, 2012 . 7:16am

Update: Tales of Xillia will be released in 2013 in Europe.

Tales of Xillia is headed to Europe, Namco Bandai’s “TalesofU” Twitter account shared this morning, via a tweet that read: “We are very pleased to announce TALES OF XILLIA is coming to the west!”

Don’t worry, it’s headed to North America, too—the account stated in another tweet moments later: “Haha fear not my American friends as you are also getting Tales of Xillia.”

A third tweet tells us everything else we need to know for the moment: “As it currently stands information is limited I.E release date, language options etc.”

Tales of Xillia was promoted and released in Japan as a part of the Tales series’ 15th anniversary. A sequel, titled Tales of Xillia 2, is currently in development for release this fall in Japan.

My summer, no, my YEAR was just made.

Thank you Hideo Baba and all of the other overseas Tales of fans who helped show them our love for the series! Next we gotta show them how bad we want Xillia 2!

Namco bandai delivers the good games in 2013, ni no kuni, Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 3, and now Tales of Xillia.

Cant wait to get it, and hope they do some special edition for the US this time.

    • Anime10121

Agreed Namco’s getting all my monies next year!

Absolutely awesome news. After all the teasing it had to happen and i’m not surprised it has but there’s still apart of me that doesn’t quite believe it just yet :D

  • Mister_Nep

I put my money where my mouth was. I purchased two copies of Tales of Graces F. I’m going to happily purchase Tales of Xillia as well.

  • Prithivi

Great!!! In Europe we missed all last generation’s “Tales of” (with the exception of Symphonia), but this time it seems our luck has changed! yay!!! too bad Tales of Vesperia PS3 version is still Japan Only…

    • XYZ_JolteonZ980

      >White sticky liquid is shooting out of me

Reminds me of certain cool fan art of Asbel Lhant and and Prince Richard.

    • Luna Kazemaru

Ok going to need to clam the hell down now….

      • malek86

      • LynxAmali

        God damn it.

        I laughed.

        • Oh, try to guess what the most popular message people like to drop around Yuria the Witch is.

Hint: She’s supposedly the most “Moé” character in Demon’s Souls. …As Moé as a game about death, horror, death, degradation, death, ruin and death can get, anyway.

……Stop giving me that look. I’m just relaying the fanon here.

    • malek86

I really didn’t need to know that.

    • D:

  • THANK GOD!!!
    YES YES YES!!!
First we start a year with Ni no Kuni and then a plethora of JRPG incoming
Fire Emblem, Xillia, Witch and Hundred Knights, Atelier Ayesha, possible FF XIII-3 and countless of unannounced game that might be coming, it’ll become a pure awesomeness if it wrap 2013 with FF Versus.

  • kool_cid414

YAES this pleases me to no end.

  • frokenok3

Namco is that you? xD After Graces F LE, One Piece:Pirate Warriors CE, now we’re getting Xillia too? Look like wallet is gonna cry again when it heards the news

  • Okay… So this eventually came to happen.

Just remember to keep cool, folks: I’m saying this only because this is a Tales thread.

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

  • WHAT!? *super excited dance of excitement* Such wonderful news in the morning will make my hot hot summer day go awesomely~ (✿❛◡❛)ノ:..。♦♫♦* Kyaaaaaaa~~

  • Awesome! I just picked up Tales of Graces f, this gives me time to beat it.

    • Anime10121

Games fun, plot not so much (although for like the first phase of the game the plot starts out strong while the gameplay is lacking, and then it does a complete 180 for the rest of the game).

  • epy

All our whining really has paid off, hasn’t it?

    •  it absolutely has. Best thing is, such an achievment might convince people that it’s absolutely worth it to fight/whine for the things you love.

  • AlteisenX

Now all that’s left that I want over here from Namco is Digimon Re: Digitize. Combined with them having part in the new Super Smash Bros. Namco could be turning over a new leaf? Still wary but this is nice to hear.

    • Anime10121

That’s probably not going to happen though sadly.

PSP=Dead in the west (well besides Atlus and XSEED) even though there are SO many great games that have yet to see our soil :(

      • According to the screenshots, Re:Digitize seems to incorporate Furigana text, which should help make looking up words relatively faster – if it’s any consolation. Not to mention that Digimon names and many attacks are in Kana already.

I’m not gonna lie: Translating and comprehending the thing is going to be a big package of stress by itself. But if it’s not getting an English release, I’m willing to go through with it, word by word.

        • Anime10121

           I wish I had your resolve :(

Because I do wanna play it, but I’ve tried playing an rpg like that, and it just takes the fun out of it for me.

          • “Resolve”, huh. Haha… I’ll admit that it’s a rather impractical method for my Japanese proficiency – which isn’t much. But I’d feel more uncomfortable looking up at publishers with expectations of an English release in the eyes until the neck is sore, only to be turned down by a different announcement. So I decided that knowing a bit is better than knowing nothing at all. It’s not like I’m pestering anybody either; I’m just spending my energy on something I want to. So while it’s rather disproportionate in the effort-by-progress ratio, at least it’s harmless.

          • Anime10121

I know a little Japanese too, and I even have text books that focus on words, sentence structure, grammar etc but my memory is, and always has been crap.  I’m a tech head but every time I learn something new, I have to write it down/type it out so that I wont forget it.  Its like I’ve had some kinda memory disorder or something all my life and I’m only 24 (cant remember faces nor names very well).

I tried learning the Language, studying non stop for a year and was doing pretty well, a situation occurred where I couldnt study for a month and I forgot EVERYTHING.  Kinda turned me off from trying again because like I said, my memory is crap.

I dont expect many jrpgs at all to be localized (even though they are my favorite genre) because while I do find them entertaining, fact is, barring Final Fantasy they just dont sell well in the west.

I’m just saying kudos or should I say Kupos (bad pun :P) to you for being able to have fun like that and actually being able to retain some of that knowledge for future reference.  You are using entertainment in a good way to broaden your understanding of a different language, while I on the other hand am slowly starting to try and relearn what I have forgotten (taking it MUCH MUCH slower this time).

          • @Anime101210:disqus
Eh, don’t be too hard on yourself. I also find it hard to pick up another language when I’ve been plenty used to a language that is practically universal for this civilization, for almost two decades by now.

  • Setsuna ♥

I imported the game and it was fun to no end now maybe I can actually understand 100% of the story this time around lol I can’t wait

  • Marcelo Gouvea

Totally made my day. Life is wonderful now.

  • Ravage27

Graces F, Ninokuni and now Xillia…i love you Namco <3

  • cj_iwakura

This is what I waited for. Good job, Tales fans.
(Hope we get that hand drawn Fujishima cover, too.)

  • enorka miho

OH YEA~~~!!! No more weird names for you Namco… No more.. You have got my utmost respect!!!!! XD

  • GreekGod88

yes day 1 thx so much Namco Bandai :3
will buy Graces F TTT2 Xillia/2 One Piece

  • Astrid Huang

    SO HAPPY!!

This really made my day…..no, my YEAR XD

  • Devon Peluso

I had a feeling this was going to make it :D So happy right now. This game looks fun to no end and i purposely haven’t watched any of the cut scenes… other than there attacks just in the slight chance we would get this ^^ Ahhh!! The suspense will lead me to youtube… to watch spoilers >.>… and costumes.

  • Locklear93

I really hope the main character is more palatable than the hero of Tales of Graces F.  Tales games have been a mixed bag for me, between awesome and intolerable.  Asbel’s I MUST PROTECT EVERYONE OH NOES I FAILED got exhausting for me quickly.  I like idealistic main characters, but “Everything will be fine because I say so,” or victory through the power of friendship alone just don’t fly for me anymore.

I was SO happy with Yuri in Vesperia, realizing that the system was broken and he’d just have to get his hands dirty.  Not that heroes need to resort to murder to be interesting, but Asbel’s refusal to handle reality was so very tiresome.

tl;dr: I like the Tales series in general, but really hope the main character of Xillia isn’t such a stereotypical anime hero.

    • MrRobbyM

      >Yuri love

    • Anime10121

I agree, Asbel SUCKED as a main character and Yuri was awesome.  I’m hoping the same for Jude (Xillia’s main dude character) or Milla (the main female character).

      • LightZero

I thought Asbel was a good MC he just wasn’t as good as Yuri. Jude is going to disappoint unless you like whiny and clingy male MC but Millia seems cool though from what I seen.

        • Anime10121

I didnt care much for Asbel because he didnt seem to actually develop character throughout the whole game.  In the kid phase, I liked Hubert, Asbel, and Cheria, but when they grew into adults, all three of them just became so plain.  I did find Sophie’s story interesting and Pascal was great, but beyond that, the characters just didnt do it for me coming after Vesperia’s and Abyss’ excellent casts.  There just wasn’t anything special about them or their story to me, although the game still rocks.

    • MrKappa

Prepare for mass disappointment if you think Jude will be anywhere near likable. If you hated Asbel then there is just no way you can like Jude.

      • MrRobbyM

Well, that was expected. How about Milla?

        • Socially and culturally secluded, pragmatic, headstrong, dedicated. I like her, to be honest. Jude is more or less a tag-along kid to Milla in the early 1/3 of the story. He likely develops later, but I haven’t gone far enough to see that.

          • MrRobbyM

That’s nice to hear. I can dig strong female characters as long as they’re not of the Lightning quality. You know, I DON’T HAVE FEELINGS, HMPH.

          • Reminds me of one episode Extra Credits did on the topic of maturity in games; one of the points they mentioned is that sullen, indifferent moods are far from actual maturity, and mature people actually acknowledge their emotions.

If you’re interested in strong female characters, I also recommend looking up about Yunica Tovah from Ys Origin. She’s not a very complex character, but she’s plenty believable as a person, as short-to-the-point as she was crafted.

          • Benny Tormoes

            You are my hero, MrRobbyM.
            Also, great announcement, too.

        • MrKappa

Milla is awesome as can be but you’re still gonna have to put up with Jude. Spoilers aside the game really doesn’t change all that much based on who you picked.

          • MrRobbyM

Glad there will be at least one good character then. I didn’t expect the two sides to play out all the differently anyways so meh.

        • xavier axol

          she awesome (very likeable)

    • Revorse

I don’t know too much of Xillia, I tried to stay away, but isn’t Jude like obsessed with Mills?

      • It’s more like a strong admiration, from what I understand. He mentions multiple times on how Milla is self-sufficient (in a sense), calm, dauntless, etc. Unfortunately, I started the game on Milla’s side first, so I don’t know exactly what his story is.

  • SupaPhly

    [internal feelings of joy]

  • MrRobbyM

    “language options etc”

Does that mean they’re actually considering throwing in the Japanese voices?

    • malek86

The news was originally for the european version, so I assume they mean whether it will be Multi-5 or not.

This just to say that we shouldn’t get our hopes up now, so that we don’t start blaming Namco for “dashing our hopes” if they eventually say it’s not dual audio.

      • MrRobbyM

Yeah, that makes sense. Oh well, I’ve always enjoyed the english dub for Tales games for the most part anyways.

    • Anime10121

      Probably thinking about it

    • cj_iwakura

“Dual language options will be included!”

      (months later)
“Play in your choice of English or Spanish!”

      • MrRobbyM

You know, with the rising population of latins in America, I wouldn’t be all that surprised. I think I’d also enjoy it. I think Japanese humor would sounds really funny in Spanish given they hire the right voice actors.

        • cj_iwakura

I’m bilingual, so I’d enjoy that more than I’d have any right to.

    • Victoria [Rokuso3]

I think (and hope) they are refering to language options in Europe, although dual audio would be great :D

  • Oni123

Yay! Please god give us tales of Xillia thats all i want *reads article* ….Now i want more.

  • AuraGuyChris

Here hoping the ridiculous amount of DLC can be found in-game…

    • MrRobbyM

I think that’s asking a bit much from Bamco but I won’t stop you from positie thinking!

  • Rejoice, Tales fans.

  • Anime10121

    My eyes they are teary after all of the awesome announcements that have happened this week;_;

Shouts “long live TALES OF” :)

    • MrRobbyM

I feel the same. Recent events have somewhat restored my faith in humanity.

  • I’m very excited about this. As a fan of Tales series. I can say I will be buying this when it hits North America. I hope Namco/Bandai will get lots of sales to try to make Xillia 2 a reality as well.

  • patch in Remote Play so I can play it from my Vita and I won’t even wait for a price drop.

    • Anime10121

      I mean really?

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

    • Nemesis_Dawn

Way to support the series. Would you like Namco to prepare you a nice dinner before you decide whether to spend your money first?

    • Kitestwinblades

Dunno about the price drop part r.r;…   but in all honestly- I’d love some remote play in anything to be honest. Not a must, but I’ll take it. Especially if its an RPG and offline game. I’m still pretty excited about this :3

  • You give it to us, we buy it, it’s that simple!
And the contest is the most sweetest thing anyone ever did for us!

Hope I’ll win a Xillia limited edition or the Asbel pendant or even the shirt would rock!
Thanks, thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to buy your games again!

  • leadintea

I’m actually hoping the add more stuff for the Western release. Apparently, the game is very bare bones. I also hope that the voice recording is done in the UK. I’ll be damned if I have to hear Laura Bailey or Troy Baker and other voice actors like them in yet another game.

    Still, really excited about this.

    • MrRobbyM

Amen to that. I hope Xenoblade and The Last Story voice work becomes a trend. I think Troy Baker does good work but I can’t stand hearing the same person in every darn game. He also has a very mainstream voice which I can’t stand hearing for too long.

      • Revorse

Really? The voice work from those two games were terrible. At least I thought it was. I don’t mind hearing those same people. I have a certain respect for them and how they work on those games.

        • MrRobbyM

I do. I liked the voice work from both games for the most part. At least compared to many other English dubs. I don’t necessarily mean the same people either, just voice actors from the UK.

          • Revorse

Maybe for a UK region they could us UK voices. But I’d rather have VA’s from the states if its a game localized for NA.

    • I want Troy Baker as Alvin and Ali Hillis as Milla :D

      • Revorse

I agree with Ali Hillis. Before I found out Crispin Freeman was union, I wanted him for Albino. Now I think Patrick Seitz would be good.

        • LightZero

Patrick Seitz for Alvin especially since his Jap VA also did Ragna from Blazblue

  • Best News all day- scratch that, this summer.

  • Opn

I cried tears of endless joy.

  • Tales_of_Master

It seems Namco Bandai are really trying to change their image in the west. My favorite company and my favorite series “Tales” and my favorite manga “JoJo” get huge announcement in the span of two days, I couldn’t be happier :D. Good thing I didn’t play a lot of my JPN copy of Xillia.

    • MrRobbyM

If we get the JoJo fighting game, Bamco will be my new favorite game company.

      • It will be copyright hell unless they swapped ALL the names.

        • malek86

And then people would complain that they swapped the names ><

  • Raze

Been waiting for this announcement since ToGf NA was announced, Thank You Namco :D

  • … That’s reminds me, I still have to beat Graces f.

Got struck on the Little Queens

  • ivanchu77

If they decided to localize this game it means that Graces f sold well, right?

it was not too long ago since Namco trolled us about localizing this franchise but recently we are getting nearly all of them! , i hope the trend continues.

    • MrRobbyM

I wouldn’t say well. More like well enough.

      • Anime10121

According to Namco Bandai, they consider both Tales of the Abyss and Tales of Graces F to be a success :)  And quote

“The recent success for last autumn’s release of Tales of the Abyss and the anticipated release of Tales of Graces f and its exclusive European Edition has helped make localizing Tales of Xillia
for the western market one of the easiest decisions we have ever made,”
said Olivier Comte, Senior Vice President of Marketing, Sales and
Publishing for Namco Bandai Games Europe S.A.S.

So hopefully they did do better than “well enough” although when you think about it, it had to have done well considering they are already announcing a new title in Europe before the release of Graces F in said territory.

Well regardless, happy gamers are us :P

        • MrRobbyM

Well if they consider those numbers good then great for us! I would still like to see them do a bit better but they definitely sold more than expected which is nice.

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Well as long as these coming Tales is going to sales well, i am sure that Tales series will keep coming here.^^

  • KuroiKen

Don’t really care about that crap being localized. They’ve left the game unfinished when they released it, so they probably will patch some things they f**ed up in the original release, but that won’t help the game. Releasing a game with battle system this bad after Graces is a joke, seriously. I’d never want to return to Symphonia-like TP system after Graces, so I dropped Xillia after seeing the game to about 15% of it(according to a japanese FAQ written for it).
The characters in Xillia also leave much to be desired, the male MC is a worthless gutless idiot, and female one is a blasphemy upon Maxwell’s name, seriously. Other characters also aren’t anything interestiny by themselves, besides Rouen or whatever he’s called and Arvin.

Hope their sales of it fail, so they won’t do something as stupid as that ever again.

    • Luna Kazemaru
    • “Hope their sales of it fail”

See, I don’t have a problem with you thinking differently from me or anyone else, but it’s that type of attitude that honestly throws it all away, as one can easily label your comment as unnecessary trolling ramblings. Just because you don’t like a game, you wish for the sales of that game to fail?

If you don’t like a game, then don’t buy it. Wishing upon the disgrace of people who work for that company, and by consequence, their families over a matter of personal preference is something that just totally throws your whole argument out of the window, sorry.

      • Luna Kazemaru

Didn’t you know man Hoping sales fail and devs crash and burn is the new ‘it’ now so its clearly the best thing to hope for. (if anyone can’t tell is is sarcasm in everyway)

        •  Yeah, this is the internet after all…Should’ve know better. :/

      • KuroiKen

Well, developers won’t suffer from it. Just localizers I don’t like much, so I’m standing at my point.

        •  My point still stands. Be it developers or localizers….they also have jobs and families to feed, and you’re still wishing upon their demise based on personal preference, which I believe to be utterly unfair.

    • If the sales fail it’s obvious that they won’t do it again like you said since it’s a big loss. And by “won’t be doing it again” I mean localizing another tales game, not improving the game to your liking.

I always can’t make sense about those who want a game to fail, it’s really stupid honestly.

    • Okay, you know what? That’s it. This clown act has gone on long enough. I was fully expecting the usual “Japan rocks, English sucks” from you, but this? This doesn’t even “take the cake”; this is pretty much jumping the shark – and not in a good way.

Did it slip your mind that there are many fans who are looking forward to English releases of the series like waiting for a blue moon? You’ve played the game – an RPG made for at least a handful tens of hours of content – for a short period, decided you hated it and subsequently branded it a “failure”, and now want the venture to fail and deprive people of it? A game that you yourself admitted to have played only up to “15%” point? That’s not even 1/6 of the story, and there are two storylines. Talk about guarding the manger.

It never occurred to you that Xillia incorporated a lot of the favorable design elements from both prior Team Destiny and Team Symphonia games to make a game that is plenty functional as well as convenient and stress-free? (And how few franchises actually do that?) I’ve heard a lot of criticism on the game, a good part of them being valid points to think about. And I’m not going to pretend that it’s a perfect game either – it could still be improved in some aspects – but system-wise, it has very little to be said against; (according to often-raised complaints) it only lacks certain types of content that some were expecting.

Regarding Jude: Are the concepts of inconfidence, insecurity, powerlessness and the likes really that farfetched a concept for you to grasp? Oh, of course. Because you’re always waving around your giant Hinomaru about how good you are in Japanese, how awesome it is to play games in Japanese, how English translations and dubs are unsatisfactory/inferior, or how the West just sucks when it comes to games. Nevermind the fact that it’s mainly about personal preferences, Japan has just as much shoddy stuff coming out of it, and you need well-reasoned criticism to be credible; but who needs validity when you can slander anonymously without repercussions online-Oh wait, this is SiliconEra, not YouTube.

So my point is: Congratulations. You are the first person to make me – not just “consider”, not just “warn”, but – actually go thorough with a ban. So take that “honor”, along with the note that no amount of patience can be enough for you, and leave.

      • DanteJones

        Goodbye @KuroiKen:disqus , you won’t be missed.

      • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Good job there.^^ I indeed had enough of all those so called Tales elitist.

        • Benny Tormoes

          There is a god.

          • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

^^ Yes indeed. Siliconera has many admin gods to protect us from trolls attack here.^^

        • Haha, that coincidentally fits perfectly with your Big Boss avatar.

          • Nitraion

Because you’re the patriot for siliconera country…. That means i will not see his babbling in future

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

^ Prime example of Ungrateful Tales fans.T_T Man, i really feel that Tales series is not facing other problem than his own fans killing it series here and for you to know, if the sales does fail and lead to the series never ever brought here anymore no matter if the new series is masterpiece or not. I hope you will not change your mind there and ask for the game to be brought here anymore.

      • And it’s not like any other games are perfect either. Some have more drawbacks than others, of course, but railing against how they hated a game has never been what can be considered valid criticism. What we can do is acknowledge a game’s pros and cons, and let the creators know so that they can use the feedback to improve for the future.

Don’t worry about the quality: Like I mentioned above, the game is plenty serviceable, and would likely please many of those who are expecting a good set of game mechanics, and/or the Team Symphonia battle system; their preferences of story and characters, on the other hand, is theirs alone. (I would even say it could be a consolation for what they’ve been asking for from Vesperia PS3 in terms of gameplay, but… you can never underestimate how picky some Tales fans can be.)

        • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Lol no problem here.^^ As i do own Xilia here(Jap version) and i never feel that the game is rushed at all.

I mean, game released without being able to add everything the developers wanted to put is not something new. It happens to many other games here.

However, i do really can’t tolerate all the Tales fans there who will always nitpick on even the smallest problem here and in the end causing many other gamers who is interested with the game to avoid buying the game.

And finally, the circle return. The game not coming, the so called “tales fans” comes complaining that Bamco does not care about them and when it comes, no one buys the game and start complaining about the game again.

    • Nemesis_Dawn

You don’t have a single positive thing to say ever, do you?

  • Kai2591

wow Tales fans are finally getting what they want huh. I’m not a fan myself but congratulations to those who are :)

  • Göran Isacson

Tales of Xillia? I believe a “Hell to the yes-level” is perfectly warranted right about now. Probably not gonna be a very big release, but any kind of translation helps in my opinion!

  • FFmax

    And I still don’t have a PS3 yet, sigh.

    • Anime10121

I’ma need for you to rectify that issue, and rather fast :P

PS3 has way too many awesome games for it to be skipped on.

      • Benny Tormoes

5 years ago, I would’ve laughed at you.

Now, with wonderful game series like Tales of on the system, it would be highly reccomended that if you are a JRPG fan, you own a Playstation system.

Xbox 360 JRPG game library has evaporated and the Wii’s JRPG library is small (but the ones that are on there, such as Op Rainfall games and Little King’s Story are pretty damn good).

So, if you want a console JRPG, then  PS3 is your system. Simple.

  • I actually imported xillia because i could not wait…stuck learning jap for now xD well it was the right call 2013 is way too far for my taste. still gonna buy it though :P

  • Repede91

This somehow gets me more excited than MvC Origins and Nights HD! I can’t wait!

  • Baba also said on stage that if the game sells well enough, they’ll seriously consider releasing the sequel, Tales of Xillia 2 in the west as well! What a glorious press conference that was!

  • Very awesome. lol Again I still need a PS3 though. :(

    • I’m sooo sorry we don’t live close to each other! I totally use mine for nothing but watching Netflix/Blurays. XD I really need to play my PS3 games.

      • lol You’re too sweet. :3 Be careful Sui-chan might get jelly.

    • i can totally identify…lol. i bought ToG F first day and i dont have a ps3 at all. i do play it sometimes at my boyfriend’s brother’s house sometimes, though. lol. hopefully i can get a ps3 before Xillia comes here!

  • Domii

Well I skipped out on Graces F because I let some reviews turn me down, but this time it’ll be a different story.

Edit: I know I messed up guys. Being that I don’t have as much disposable income, I tend to look at certain reviewers when Im not sure about a game. In this case though, I should look the other way.

    • the reviewers lied. it is amazing!

      • Domii

I know, I can see that.

    • Nitraion

The reviewer is a bull i played like crazy… don’t trust reviewer for game like graces

    • Anime10121

Dont listen to “reviewers” regarding jRPG’s I’ve learned that lesson first hand.  Graces may not have the best story (or characters for that matter) but the gameplay itself is extraordinarily fun and is vastly different from the three mothership titles before it.  And even still, though the story and characters are cliche’d nomenclature, its still tolerable (although the whole friendship theme is kinda cringe-worthy).

    • Luna Kazemaru

I don’t ‘care’ for tales but I have to ask. WHY IN THE HELL WOULD YOU THINK  REVIEWS ARE RELEVANT?!

    • LightZero

So you going to let “professional” reviews manipulate you into buying stuff? Oh please reviewers have something against jrpg this gen. Xillia won’t be doing much better. A review is nothing more than an opinion. It’s no better than yours or mines. Besides Graces F is a solid game. Honestly I’m impress with Graces than what I saw of Xillia. Regardless two Tales games are better than none.

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

      ……”skipped out on Graces F”?

I ORDER U KNOW TO GO AND BUY TALES OF GRACES F!!!!! That game is a very fun game to play.T_T

    • Never trust a reviewer unless you know him/her… Especially when it comes to JRPGs….

    • Nemesis_Dawn

If it’s a JRPG not called Persona, you can almost always count on it getting a bad review.

      • Benny Tormoes

Even then, other SMT games (Devil Summoner 1 and Strange Journey anyone?) have had some seriously lukewarm reviews from sites like Gamespot, but the point about reviews still stands.

  • MCoelho

Ok enough with the caps lock, but i’m so happy that i can’t say anything else

  • raymk

I’m really glad this is happening but since I know the tales fanbase which is actually turning out to be one of the most ungrateful fanbases the game won’t do that much better than graces.  There’s no reason graces F shouldn’t have done well but even most of the tales fanbase didn’t support the game for one reason or another, like boycotting for not getting vesperia or because the battle system changed or the artwork(even though these are tales traditions).  I hope it does 100K since this one did have more hype over here in the west, but people that have played the japanese version keep trying to put this down for other buyers like its the worst game ever.

    • Anime10121

Namco Europe has called ToGF and TotA3D’s sales a success, they said that because of the success of those two games it was a no brainer to bring Xillia west.  While I agree that Graces should have done better, besides the battle system Graces IMO wasn’t anything special as far as Tales games go.

Dont get me wrong I’m glad we got it and will support any “new” Tales release we get in the west, but Graces story/music/characters weren’t really all that great, especially coming from the cast they had in the previous game.  Asbel was a complete SNORE and the only character I found fun and interesting was Pascal.

I do hope that Xillias reputation for being an “incomplete” game doesnt hurt its sales image in the west.  Just because it doesn’t have “staples” from previous entries in the series doesn’t make it any less complete.  Generally people said it was a good game, but since it didnt have more costumes or because it lacks that special isle, they say it was incomplete.  Regardless Namco has my money in the bank already:)

  • Not that the games are connected, but I will have to beat Graces F before this one comes out!  I’m very happy about this!

  • Spirit Macardi

    Freakin’ awesome!

Now, if there’s a way to get Namco to pay attention to some other underrated series…

    • puchinri

You mean. . . like making a new Klonoa game? . . .Actually! Now would be the perfect time!

Kirby is getting a collection (and has been getting a lot of attention) and NiGHTS is getting a port, so Namco should be smart and give the other dream three character some love and attention~.

      • Spirit Macardi

Yeah, it would be perfect for Klonoa, since this December the series turns 15 years old. Though currently the morons don’t seem to have anything planned…

I was also suggesting other series like Tower of Druaga and Mappy. Namco has an awful habit of only releasing certain games while completely ignoring their more creative properties.

        • puchinri

Ahh, that would be even better. And, yeah, sadly. I’m hoping that they come through, but not having too much faith.

Pretty much. They manage to ignore and disappoint relatively well, even when making me happy.

  • Nitraion

    :D yeah….. 2013 sooo far away…. D:

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Be patient there.^^ At least we know that Ni no Kuni, Anarchy Reign and Xilia will feel our 2013 with rainbows.^^

      • Nitraion

As i get older i fear do not have time to play the game that’s all D:

        • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

T_T Man thats one hard truth there.T_T I miss my school time here.T_T

          • Nitraion

            T_T (salute)

  • AndyFe

Very awesome first Atelier Ayesha was announced at the beginning of this week and this at the end, along with some other cool games sprinkled about it’s been a  good week. I looking been forward to playing this so I can wait a little longer

  • YESSSSSSSSSS! (Foams from mouth) Finally! =^_^=

  • Voltech44

I approve of any game that lets me beat monsters to death with my legs and fists. But this game?  This game gets maximum approval.

Thank you, Namco.  Thank you.  *sheds manly tear*

  • noctis_nox

    I cried! sniff!

  • Tales fan better buy 2 copies of the game to make sure they get the sequel too =P

    • Nah, promoting the game to ppl is better.

  • Brandon001

  • SoulEmbrace2010

    YES! YES! YES!

  • Shinji Kazuya

OH HELL YEAH!!! Namco back in full force!!

  • YESH. I CAN DIE HAPPILY NOW. (after i obtain and beat the game, of course)

    • MAO

      LOL don’t die yet. There’s still TOX2.

  • blaizevincent

Huzzah!! Been Playing Tales of Vesperia for a seond time recently in anticipation of the Tales of Graces F UK Release. Very happy with this news indeed. Greastest RPG Series ever!

  • MrSirFeatherFang

oh yeah, Alvin here i come
EDIT: Hmmm, the past few days seem to be more exciting than E3 lol

    • Anime10121

      E3 who?

The event “Week 27 of year 2012” is the best game/anime event of the year :P

    • xavier axol

i hope you mean (sosuke aizen)

  • Roses4Aria

Yay!  This just officially made my day!  I hope this means that we’ll eventually get Xillia 2 as well. :)

  • Darkrise

I see Namco in a whole new light now. To be honest, I had my doubts about Xillia being localized as it was rushed and some doubts whether or not enough ‘fans’ would buy Graces F. Now that Xillia is coming out, I can definitely say that I’m HYPED! Though I am a bit disappointed that I won’t hear Miyuki Sawashiro or Tomokazu Sugita in the localized version… Oh well, at least it’s actually getting localized

    • puchinri

       Oh man, I didn’t realize that Miyuki Sawashiro is in it. That’s two voices I miss out on. And that’s both of them, for the second time. ;A;

Well, lets just hope. . .

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

….. about the VA there, be grateful that we are getting this game here.T_T I don’t want to hear some fans complaining that no VA=no Buy anymore here.

      • Darkrise

Well I did say that I’m grateful that we’re getting the game in english, but I am just a bit sad that I can’t hear some of my favorite jp va’s. =P

      • RedShadoww

Yeah the whole ‘no japanese audio = no buy’ is pretty retarded. Even though I’ll almost always prefer original jap audio for english dub, it’s just a preference and not worth passing up a great game.

  • More wonderful news to brighten my day even more. I’m looking forward to picking up Graces f this August. Xillia with Ni no Kuni and Majo to Hyakkihei next year… 2013 is going to be awesome!

  • No No

SWEET MOTHER OF GOD! YES!! Hopefully it’s an updated version since I heard it wasn’t complete in the japanese one or something.

  • darkfox1

Hype I wonder though if it’s gonna be the same version or if they will update it some. Like they did with Tales of the Abyss which mind you Japan didn’t get the one we got until the 3DS version was released. Haha what am I saying I should be grateful for this announcement!

    • puchinri

Well, wondering if we’d get it is relevant. And it’s a good question, since we got f instead of just ToG, and we’re getting the updated Ni no Kuni. Lets have hope~! ^u^

  • CirnoLakes

Oh my gosh, yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes!

  • Elemiel

And I want Amy Kincaid to voice Leia!

    • Anime10121

Hey I saw you at Namco’s Japan Expo conference (Points at avatar) :P
Although you were in your old clothes :)

    • puchinri

Huh. That might work out nicely~!

By the by, your icon is really cute and has a nice art style. Who’s the artist and/or character?

      • Anime10121

Its Leia in her Tales of Xillia 2 clothes.

        • puchinri

           Oh, snap. That’s snazzy!

      • Elemiel

It is indeed what Anime said. Here’s her full body~

        • puchinri

Thank you for the picture~! I don’t think there’s anyway that Leia could become my favorite character more than she is now. >u<

  • SirRichard

It’s been quite the week for news, hasn’t it? Great to hear that they’re giving it a shot outside Japan after all, here’s hoping they actually get success out of it. After all the clamouring for it, it damn well better.

  • LightZero

I will be getting the game. I’m more interested in Xillia 2 though. Unfortunately, Jude made me a little less interested in Xillia 1. Since we will have to endure his fanboy attitude.

    • puchinri

He really has a fanboy attitude? He feels so calm and toned down to me (and yet, a perfect shounen hero at times).

      • LightZero

Yup if you want to be spoiled there are some cutscenes that have subs. He is a major Millia fanboy.

        • puchinri

Huh. I did not know. I totes don’t mind the spoilers~. (Already spoiled the ending for myself.)

  • YoshEE

Sorry for my language but fck yea!!!!!! Now I can’t wait to reserve Tales of Xillia once they are up! ^__^  Now I am still gonna hope for the release of Tales of Vesperia(PS3) >.< But still Tales of Xillia is still great.

  • Tatsuya1221

    “Cries Manly Tears of Joy”

  • Andrew Austin

Note to self: Stop importing Tales games, looks like we’re getting them all now.

    • puchinri

      And lets hope it stays this way. =u=;

  • DanteJones

The noise I just made didn’t sound human. Can’t wait for this!

  • Anthony Woodz

    i love u bamco

  • So glad. More Tales nom nom nom!

  • Neat! I’m just about done Tales of Graces F, so good timing to announce this, haha.

  • Yes, yes, yes infinite times yes! I’ve been very excited about this game since the early teases about it. Much like Graces I’ve avoided pretty much every spoiler that I could possibly find in hopes of a North American release and to have this confirmation right here… Well it blows my mind in a good way!

I’m so excited for this. So, very excited.

  • About time they announced this game for the west! I can’t wait to pick this game up already.

  • Arcm

    My body is ready.

  • DemonicX

This is nice to hear! Definitely looking forward to it.

  • puchinri

Ah, language options, huh? So there’s a chance of dual audio. I’d really love that, since Leia is Saori Hayami~. I’m not too keen on the later half of the game’s story (or at least, how it’s played out), but I do enjoy the characters and I’m interested in being able to play the game.

  • Ah, keeping us exactly 1 console game behind…

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

T_T Disqus is trolling me here. (Failed reply.)

  • Nemesis_Dawn

    Thank you, Namco. Thank you.

  • fck yeah, i’ll ask my friends to lend it to me, mwahahhaaha, and then ill go to bed with my japanese ver and my friend’s english ver and touch them and and and…

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

*Preparing to snipe WildArms knowing that he is not going to support this series like me(Who did already own japanese version)*

      • Sorry, not being from the US makes it x2 harder to get money for that, getting US’s games is already expensive, so you can imagine from japan, and in the country i live i can only use 400$ yearly with my credit card on the internet (seriously) so yeah, cant have that luxury, i need to get xillia 2 in november…

Not really my fault they make the game localizing aspect on the tales of scene to be so doubtful, if i would had waited, i wouldnt have my tales of vesperia for ps3 right besides xillia either -_-;, so i decided to not wait to see if they get localized lol

        • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

But…But…… you must still support Bamco at all cost here.T_T To shows Bamco that the world still love Jrpg.T_T(lololol.)

          • Its not that i dont want, i serously -can’t- im limited, think of it like this, im one of the person’s that helped xillia sell so much, that helped xillia to look better in terms of trying to localize it.

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Bamco……….. I love you guys.^^ and once more i emphasize here……… SUPPORT THIS GAME WHEN THEY COME OUT AT ALL COST!!!!!!!!

  • CirnoLakes

I would just like to say: I love 2012.

  • Kavyn

Now I need to get my hands on a PS3. Wish they’d release for xbox but we all know that’ll never happen lol

  • Guess I need to buy a PS3, but I’ve been so conflicted between that and an Xbox, so I can play Vesperia and Lost Odyssey. Alas. Indecision’s a monster.

    • Go for the PS3, unless you really like shmups or shooters.

      • Mike Pureka

Or retro stuff like Guardian Heroes. :)

    • MrRobbyM

I was going to suggest holding off to see if they port it to the 360 for NA/EU(hay, you never know) but then I read Bamco’s facebook announcement that said “available exclusively on the PS3!”

Oh well. I say go with the PS3 unless you have lots of friends that only own 360s that play online.

    • Looks like it’s time for you to sift through Craigslist and eBay.

There’s some good stuff on both consoles to justify either purchase, if you’re willing to go outside your comfort zone.

    • Chiupon

I always tell this to anyone who is making a current gen console decision — out of the two, it depends on how much you game and for how long. I’d go for 360 because it’s more cost effective, has a broader variety games and pretty much everything is multiplat these days. PS3 has a few exclusives, especially in the JRPG range, but the majority of them are mediocre. Like Xillia, for example.

Valkyria Chronicles is the only thing i’ve played on ps3 that’s good. Luckily I didn’t have to buy one — you can just find a good friend with a ps3 and spend long weekends at their house. That always works. C:

      • Most of my concern is the quality of RPGS over the amount. If I’m going to play mediocre titles that aren’t really worth the money in the end, I’d rather the console with fewer? Quality over quantity, I guess.

    • Nemesis_Dawn

As someone with both systems, I can tell you that if you’re into JRPG’s, you pretty much want a PS3. I bought the 360 for Vesperia and Lost Odyssey and Star Ocean and then I saw PS3 JRPG after PS3 JRPG coming out, so I became a dual system owner. Now, my 360 barely gets any use, except for the occasional Western RPG.

    • I agree with MrRobbyM…

Go with the PS3 unless you have friends who own Xbox 360s and you like shooters… Remember that each consoles has its own exclusives, if you only buy one, you gonna miss a couple of games on another console… Just don’t regret your purchase is all I’m saying…

I went with the PS3 because I’m not much of an online-kind of person…

      • I wish I could like shooters since all of my male friends are all about them. I’ve tried, but they’ve never done it for me. (Halo and other FPS tend to give me headaches for some reason.)

But yeah, missing out on the exclusives is my main cause for indecision, otherwise I would’ve gone with a PS3, since I’ve always liked Sony (PS2 being my favorite system in existence.)

I guess my preference would be to get the console with the highest quality (not amount, necessarily) of RPGS, since both consoles are nearing the end of their respective life cycles.

        • Anime10121

Well in that case, you should DEFINATELY go with PS3, as the only quality RPG exclusives the 360 has are:
          Lost Odyseey
          Tales of Vesperia

The only other exclusive 360 JRPGs are:
          Magna Carta
          Blue Dragon
          The Last Remnant
          Infinite Undiscovery

none of which IMO is anything special. With PS3 you have exclusively (IMO high quality titles)

          Valkyrie Chronicles
          Disgaea 3, 4, and soon 5
The Atelier Arland games (3 of them, although they haven’t been my cup of tea, they are quality games) + Atelier Ayesha (wanna try this new one though)
          Ar Tonelico 3 Qoga
          Tales of Graces F
          Tales of Xillia
          Ni No Kuni
Final Fantasy vs. XIII (still exclusive at this point)
and those are just the good JRPGS

          Some of the rest
Hyper Dimention Neptunia (2 games soon to be 3)
          Cross Edge
          Trinity Universe
White Knight Chronicles 1 and 2

(again this is all my opinion as some didnt find Ar Tonelico 3 to be a quality release, barring the whole “strip to power up” thing, I thought it was great)

          •  You’re forgetting 360 exclusive JRPG Infinite Undiscovery which was ok.

          • Guest

that game was meh burgers with meh sauce. If you really wanted to list a quality 360 exclusive JRPG you shoulda said Lost Odyssey and localized Tales of Vesperia

          • Anime10121

Oh yeah forgot about that game and the Last Remnant (I even owned them when they first came out). I’ll add it in, but I’ll group them with the ok games but nothing special category.  Infinite Undiscovery because this is the ONE game where glaring technical problems actually stopped me from completing that game (although it would be pretty good if it werent for. all. the. skipping. and sceen/tearing).

Last Remnant was decent although a design choice that happens 3/4 way through the game would make even the most accepting JRPG fan RAGE and it was also marred by technical difficulties.

            Adding both.

    • LightZero

I own all 3 systems. But yeah if you want jrpgs then get a PS3. It’s still very lackluster compared to the DS/PSP and especially the PS2 but it has more to offer than the 360 and Wii as far as jrpg exclusives goes. Although the Wii is worth owning as a secondary system. Xenoblade just squashes all the jrpgs release on all 3 consoles IMO. The only jrpgs I like on the 360 are Magna Carta 2 (which is very underrated and overlooked), Tales of Vesperia, and Lost Odyssey. Other than that you aren’t missing much. You can get multi-plat on either system.

      • I’m lucky enough to actually own a Wii, so Xenoblade was the first new RPG I’ve been able to play in a long time until I bought a cheap, used PSP a few weeks ago, but now that the new gen consoles are coming out, the older main consoles are starting to affordable on my end of things. (Xenoblade was amazing, though. I haven’t enjoyed an RPG like that in a long time. Here’s to The Last Story, I guess?)

  • Onizuka Gio Hikari

This made me jump outta my seat in excitement!!!! TALES OF FTW

  • Zonic505

Awesome to hear the news. I think I’ll be more motivated to get Tales of Grace f to help support the Tales of… series….though probably should work on Tales of Vesperia first.

  • artemisthemp

Now I just wait for announcement of ToV for PS3 coming to EU/US and I start praying to PS3 god

    • MrRobbyM

I hope that was a joke.

    • Mike Pureka

ToV isn’t even that good, just get over it.

      • Well, to be fair, Vesperia PS3 was quite a nice piece of software in its own right. Without all the improvements made to it, those likely wouldn’t have been carried over to Xillia, so at least I wouldn’t consider it irrelevant.

      • Jirin

Vesperia’s my favorite Tales.  But I was happy playing it for 360.  I hate kid pirate characters, so definitely not missing patty.

      • DungeonRPG

        TOV’s much better than TOX….
actually….all recent mothership titles with exception of TOI are better than TOX…
This (TOX) is the one that ‘isn’t even that good’….

        • And where did you get that “ToX isn’t even that good” bit? Because I’ve played it myself, and from what I see, it’s just as serviceable as other titles.

    • Unfortunately, it’s too late. If what you want of ToV PS3 is the gameplay battle system, you can get what is largely the same experience from ToX – and then more. If what you’re looking for is the story, then there’s not much choice aside from watching footage of the 360 version; I’ve finished the PS3 version, and you’re really not missing out much in terms of story from the absence of Patty.

    • Raharu95

You and me alike. I’m still hoping we will get it.

  • Letiumtide

This is great news! I’m glad to hear that Graces sold well enough for them to continue bringing the series over. It’s always tense between Tales titles, though I wonder if we’ll get Xilla 2 (eventually), which looks interesting in it’s own right.

  • Alphabet Soup

Awww yeeeeaaah!  Thanks Namco Bandai!  This is a definite pre-order!

  • ZEROthefirst

Can’t wait, now I’d dirty my pants some more if I could get Tales of Innocence R in English :)

  • Mike Pureka

Well, I guess Graces did okay.

I am now prepared for all of the Tales “fans” to start providing “reasons” why they won’t be buying this game either.

  • KotaroInugami

    [Insert any and all praise]

  • splintered

Best news I’ve heard in awhile.

  • Graces F is great, now we’ll receive Xillia too? AWESOME!

  • katzedan

GREAT NEWS… I’ve really wanted to play this game.
I still need to get Tales of Graces but well, now it doesn’t matter anymore since I can play Xillia xD

    YEAAH! /o/

  • Equus

Awesome news!  I’ve been stalled on Graces F, though I’ve finished the main storyline.  Love that we’ll get this one too!

  • Fidelis

I was really starting to fear that Tales was a dead franchise in the West after Vesperia.

But if Graces F didnt prove to me otherwise, this sure does

  • Jirin

Wait, wait, so not only did they announce the game, they didn’t wait a year and a half to announce it and frustrate all the people waiting for it?

WTG Namco, do that from now on!  Tell us expediently whether or not we get it, so we can either be happy, or be unhappy and import it without fear of having to buy it again.

  • Rocket D

This is fantastic news. Even if this is limited information the confirmation of  Xillia releasing in both US and Europe is great. It would suck for it it be an exclusive release to either. Let’s hope there isn’t a huge gap in between the release dates for the US and UK and that it’ll be before 2013 (but doubt that right now given it took them so long to even confirm the releases since the trademarks were made) and that maybe some nice LE content for both are planned.

Food for thought: Europe might be getting this faster than the US since not only was it trademarked there first but as twitter news was announced first as well? A wait and see kind of thing.

    • Blaze Townsend

It sounds like an international release may be possible in this scenario as well.

    • Go2hell66

An eu release first could happen, we did get tales of the abyss first as well

  • kiacan

Yesssss! :D Not a huge fan of the series, in fact I haven’t played a game yet regrettably, but I really liked the trailers and everything for this one. This is so unexpected!

  • Philip Irwin

  • Arrei

  • Draparde

Great! i’m so happy to hear this….i’m SO gonna buy it! Leia ftw!

  • Settsuo

All I can say is THANKS!

  • YaY!!

  • MrJechgo

Cool, although Namco, could you please fix a few thing BEFORE the release, like adding a cameo battle, more artes for everyone and remove the feature that no 2 human players can link together ? That would be perfect.

  • badmoogle

This will be my first Tales game since Tales of Phantasia on GBA.I hope i will not be disappointed…

    • Arrei

If your last experience with the series was Phantasia GBA, it won’t exactly be difficult to top that. :P

    • Anime10121

Yeah, you kinda chose a poorly made port to get your first impression from.  While Tales of Phantasia was fun (go for the original SNES version or the better/best PSOne version-there is a complete translation patch out for it), the GBA version wasnt.  Tales of Phantasia is the first game in the series and it has made VAST improvements since then. :P

So by all means look forward to Xillia, you know not what you have been missing :)

  • Sesshomaru

    Yay !!!!

  • KingGunblader

Also, I doubt they’ve chosen English VAs yet, but Ali Hillis is Milla. Calling it right now.

  • joe ling
  • All this talk of Graces F only selling 40k copies, must not be true.  Apparently it sold well enough for namdai to be happy.  Anyway this is good news I look forward to it.  I’m just kinda jealous of EU though with the Graces F LE.  I hope if they do an LE for Xillia it’s for America too.

    • LightZero

Correction it sold around 65K-ish according to the NPD. The EU sales might bump it up a tad bit. Either way I guess Namdai had low expectations for the sales. For once, they weren’t expecting Symphonia like numbers. Hopefully they continue to keep it low since the Tales  series is incredibly niche.

  • AnimusVox

So made my day and weekend. Thank you Bamco and thank you Japan.

  • AoiKaze

    Oh, happy day indeed! XD

Only bad thing about this is a potentially long wait for its release (I’m guessing ’13). Here’s hoping that Xillia sells enough copies overseas to warrant the localization for its sequel.

…But one step at a time. Can’t wait to get my hands on Xillia! X3

  • shuyai

i can only hope they offer dual dub.

    • Arrei

It’s good to hope, but just don’t get rabid and unreasonable about it like a few certain… other fans.

Dual audio’s yet to be included in any of the localized Tales to date, after all. And it does add on to the expenses.

    • Haohmaru HL

the developers have to pay extra money to original voice actors in this case, that’s why it’s kinda rare

  • Ladius

Truly a great announcement, especially after Graces’ mediocre sales :) It looks like Namco is really trying hard to bring Tales back to the west, and Baba’s European tour was pretty impressive in that regard. I can only hope European gamers support Graces f since it’s a wonderful game, and that we get to enjoy Xillia as soon as possible :P

  • Crimson_Cloud

I just hope they keep the awesome opening song but seeing how the others were treated I guess thats a failed dream. But anyway, I’m excited. ^^

    • Anime10121

I at least think that  Tales of Vesperia (Ring a Bell) and Tales of the Abyss (Karma instrumental) were handled extremely well.  Hell I like the instrumental to Karma more than I like Bump of Chicken’s original, same with Ring a Bell.  Now ToG F’s song sucked either way, and the rest of the games American versions did kinda suffer.

      • Tien Ron

tales of graces song was made into English a long time ago by BOA and the tales music openings were great

        • Anime10121

I know, it was released by BOA like a week or two after Tales of Graces initial release in Japan (its why a lot of people thought we were getting an English release much sooner than we did).

Like I said Vesperia and Abyss’ were fantastic.  And I’m not saying that the rest of the songs (or should I say instrumentals) were bad or anything, its just without any kind of lyrics in the western versions, they just weren’t really memorable.

I do stand by what I said about Graces theme though, to me it sucked.

  • Sekundes

    Now I don’t usually post, but when I do…

  • Alexander Aubert

but i don’t see any vesperia ps3, so time to continue my japanese lesson

    • Nozomi

Or time to invest in an American 360.

      • Freud_Hater

…You do know that Vesperia for PS3 has a ton more content in it than the American 360 version, right? There’s new characters, new levels, new bosses, new weapons, new sidequests and a ton more new stuff. I think it’s more a fact that this person wants an english version of that new stuff.

        • Nozomi

Gee, wow, I had no idea.

Of course I’m aware. But I have the Tales of Vesperia for Xbox 360 anyway, supporting its sales here in the USA. A Tales of Vesperia is better than none at all, especially if you can’t read a lick of the original language it was in.

  • Yamaneko22

Don’t know how to express how happy I am with this news!!

… or maybe with Nyanko sensei pic >_<

  • scratchbach

    Happiness. Happy, happy happy.

  • Souji Tendou

I’m not happy getting an incomplete product, unless they’re going to release it in the west as Director’s Cut.

    • Ladius

Then there’s nothing wrong, since Xillia isn’t an incomplete product (at least, if you don’t consider incomplete every single game with contents cut during development, and those would be more than 90% of the videogames released each year since a lot get trimmed down from planningpre-production to development itself).

    • AceWildCard

Your Right I’m not happy ether! I’m ecstatic! This is great news :D….. Tales of vesperia for 360 was a piece of junk right? so incomplete UGH I hated it…>.> seriously man better something than nothing.

      • Ladius

Yeah, regardless of all the “beta” nonsense Vesperia X360 is still one of the biggest jrpgs released this gen.

    • Arrei

Just because the game had content cut doesn’t mean it’s incomplete. Every game has things planned that don’t make it in, it doesn’t mean what did make it in isn’t worthy on its own. Even Graces f, after receiving a DC version, still has planned artes that didn’t make it into the final product. They even had voice files for those artes. That’s not to say the lack of costume events and the multiplayer link thing aren’t problems, or that we wouldn’t like to see some improvements made by the time we get it, but the game is complete.

Now, things they didn’t put in fully knowing they’d make a port to a different system with all the finished content (Vesperia) or actually not finishing the content to sell ending and following events as DLC (XIII-2), those are a different story.

      • MrRobbyM

I think the whole “Xillia isn’t a complete game” argument exists is because of people actually complaining that the game itself felt like it was missing a lot. Stuff that makes Tales games, Tales games.

        • Ladius

Tales games aren’t Tales games because of the number of silly costumes, of beach events or of cameo battles. Those things are marginal at best, and their removal (aside from costumes dlcs, but that trend hardly started with Xillia) is in line with Xillia’s more sober tone, not to mention it introduced a lot of new things the series didn’t have till that moment like dual scenarios, even if people will carefully avoid to mention that fact.

          • MrRobbyM

I wouldn’t know, I’m just pointing out what people are saying. But I do agree with you.

          • Ladius

Personally I think repeating negative comments centered on such small details without trying to see if the game has things to add in their place isn’t the right course of action. At least, people should try to get a clear picture of all the game’s contents before adhering to a single point of view.

  • Roberto Armando Iraheta

    It’s about damn time Namco!

  • If I were in Angel Beats, this news would have been enough for me to get obliterated.

    • Deloihm Asmodeous

  • Go2hell66

and with that the tales of xillia localization saga comes to a close

but there’s still one more game i need to come over before i can die happy

    • Redsumo

I hear that! Project X Zone is my most wanted game right now. If it doesn’t get localized, I’m really considering importing that sexy white 3ds XL from Japan and a copy of the game.

  • Solomon_Kano

About time. Now let’s see if the fanbase actually supports it after ages of QQing.

  • Sardorim

So this pretty much seals the deal that the Sequel will eventually come overseas too. Maybe. Hard to tell sometimes when it comes to this stuff.

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

If this sells well, for sure the sequel is going to come. If not………we can say bye bye for another Tales series here.T_T

      • Redsumo

Lol, I just basically replied with the exact same thing as you.

        • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

^^ It is nice here to know that some of us are still realist about Tales situation here.^^

    • Redsumo

Only seals the deal if we actually support the first one! If sales are poor, don’t count on that sequel.  I wouldn’t count on future titles either…

  • Visa Vang

    Sweats. One pre-order coming up!

  • (Sighs) It good to know that 150$   i spent on DLC for  Grace finally got notice!

I’m kinda looking forward to doing it again for Xillia when it come to the west LOL kinda

  • RaikageV

This assures me that buying a PS3 next month is the right decision.

  • Guest

Please release Tales of Xillia to the U.S. Namco

    NAMCO: “Dirka dirka”

    NAMCO: “Dirka dirka”

I will SLAP you if you don’t release this game

    NAMCO: “Dirka dirka?”

  • Haohmaru HL

i’m finishing the game right now and getting ready for the sequel, wonder if it also will take them couple of years to decide if the localize it or not

  • sakushi

    sweet.. bring it on Namco..

  • Yeah, no importing for me! Just waiting. Even though Tales of isn’t my favorite RPG series, it’s definitely growing on me. I know a new Shadow Hearts or Valkyrie Profile is probably not gonna happen, I’ve only played a few games in the series, & most of them I liked. (Goes back to playing Tales of Phantasia PS1 fan-translation)

  • Robert Brady

This series is starting to become my favorite.  It seems like this game and the last two localized are better than the last three final fantasy titles.

    • Ladius

I have always liked Tales (well, not all of them), but in the current generation they’re probably the single series still able to bring the traditional jrpg package to home console in all its completeness, regardless of all the “beta” and “incomplete” nonsense surrounding some of its entries. Vesperia and Graces f are filled to the brim with optional contents, rather long main quests and interesting systems, their narrative may be clichéd (not that other jrpgsì aren’t) but it’s well presented and the characters interactions personally seal the deal for me, considering how adorable they often are.

Xillia seems to be really engrossing, too, and it’s a potentially 100+ hours game with an exciting battle system mixing the CC and TP styles, link artes, a far sleeker presentation, larger overworld areas, monster hunts and two different scenarios to play. Honestly, this more than makes up for the lack of a beach event and cameo battle, and the short number of in game costumes, the things that some people have used to bash the game completely ignoring its new traits.

      • Robert Brady

        My feelings exactly.

  • definitely a must have game for all “Tales of” gamers/lovers ^^

  • YES!!!!! I`m sooooo thrilled to find out Tales of Xillia is coming to Playstation 3 in North America, i know it will be just as good as Tales of Graces :D

  • I`m sooooo Thrilled about Tales of Xillia coming to the Playstation 3 in North America, i know it will be just as Awesome and Epic as Tales of Graces f :D i`ve been a Tales fan for 6 years! ever since then i`ve been playing the tales games, i love the Epic Gameplay, Storyline, SideQuest, Characters, and ETC.
