Malicious Kicks Butt On PlayStation 3 In U.S. This Month

By Ishaan . July 11, 2012 . 9:00am

This summer, Japan gets a re-release of Malicious with extra content, titled Malicious Rebirth, for the PlayStation Vita in Japan. Meanwhile, North America is getting the original Malicious for PlayStation 3 in English.

Malicious will be released via the PlayStation Network on July 24th. The game will cost $10.

Developed by Alvion, Malicious is an action game where you can play stages in the order you choose, sort of like Mega Man. You absorb new powers from bosses, so the order in which you tackle the game’s stages will decide which abilities you acquire first. You can watch a Japanese trailer for the game above.

YES! I’ve wanted this game for forever :D

  • MrSirFeatherFang

Nice, was looking for a PSN game to buy. It’ll be a fun game to play in short bursts within my time constraints

  • Do want, oh so badly.

  • z_merquise

I was waiting for this game for a long time ever since I first discovered it here in this site.

But I read somewhere that the Vita version would had added content. Not sure when they would reveal it and if that would be also downloadable.

Gameplay looked very impressive but to anyone who played this game, is it a must-buy?

    • Nitraion

It is soo short but great experience in my opinion….
      the battle so satisfaying….

      • raymk

How short is to short?  I mean the game is 9.99 so it being short is justified to me I guess.  I haven’t played it yet so I can’t be sure but the combat/artstyle looks to fun to pass up.

        • Nitraion

It’s like megaman chose world with boss do you want to defeat and get the boss power once you defeat them but there is no adventure in the world but instead directly facing the boss… yeah for 10$ it is amazing lol
but i mean “short” is up to you defeat boss in first try is no easy feat…
it’s little tricky to master this game but once you master it…you realize this is awesome game for 10 bucks lol

  • Mister_Nep

I’m surprised this is coming over. I had lost hope, to be honest. I already played and beat the Asia version, but I’ll totally pick this up again. I think the game is worth re-purchasing.

It takes a while to learn, but the there’s enough to the battle system that I had a blast playing it. Aside from some camera issues here and there the game was so much fun to play. Looking forward to playing it again. This time from my own region’s store.

    • Nitraion

This game is tricky to master but very satisfaying to beat all boss battle but i want more lol i wonder Vita version like..:3

      • Aoshi00

Could people get the trophy of not blocking at all, or only beating the boss w/o killing the goons, or not dying thruout the whole game, I thought the trophies were really hard.. Megaman 9/10-hard :) I would still like to play this on the big screen than on Vita despite the added contents. Wouldn’t mind re-buying the US ver.

        • Nitraion

Lol anyone who manage to get all trophy in malicious must be GODLY Skillful lol i’m no kidding XD

  • Darkrise

I was waiting forever and now it paid off! Can’t wait to play, it’s exactly the time I need to finish Xenoblade Chronicles.

  • *puts money aside to buy PSN cards*

  • raymk

Its about time they announced this for the U.S.  There was nothing to really translate so what took them so long?

    • Oh damn, good point. Why did a game with almost no dialog take so long to localize?

  • Kevadu

This is nice and all, but it’s coming so late I kind of just want the Vita version now.  Are we going to have to wait another two years for that?

  • neo_firenze

Holy crap that was a long time coming.

I’d just warn that although the game has a really cool look, I bought the Japanese PSN release and found it to be very much a case of style over substance.  A lot like El Shaddai in that regard.  So be realistic, and don’t expect to be getting something on the level of Bayonetta for your $10.

That being said, I wouldn’t say it’s a “bad” game and I definitely like the idea of supporting a new Japanese developer making stylish action games on consoles.  For that reason alone I’m happy I bought it even though I wasn’t overwhelmed with the game.

  • MrRobbyM

Yes yes yes! Finally. Only a mere 10 bucks too. Took them a while to localize though.

    • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

The disturbing thing is that it’s been localized in EU for almost 5 months now… Definitely took them a “while”. =(

      But glad I waited. =)

  • Andrew Austin

    Yeah, buying this.

  • Yes! It’d been so long I was starting to worry Malicious had been forgotten.

  • Solomon_Kano

Finally! I wonder if we’ll ever get the Vita version down the line? I’m fine if we don’t, but that would be nice.

    • That would be pretty awesome, though, cuz the Vita needs games right now!

  • Muffum

I looked forward to this game when an English release was first rumored, but in truth I had long since forgotten about it. Now that there’s official news of a US release, though, all the more reason to look forward to it.

  • Domii

About damn time!!! I’m so happy, day 1 for sure.

  • Cephrien

I /JUST/ took a 28 dollar plunge to order EU PSN points to download this FUCKIN GAME. Like. I literally ordered the points last week.

I’m going to kill something.I am SERIOUSLY going to stab someone.

    • Solomon_Kano

      No returns?

    • riceisnice

I-it’s true! He’s gonna- *Stabbed* AAAAAAAUGH!!

    • Buy something else with EU PSN credit

  • zero254

I’ll buy this game 3 times total. JPN version, us version and then the Vita edition.

  • MrKappa

This game comes out next month and I don’t believe I’ve ever heard of it…

Game looks really awesome though and the girls design is really bad ass. The cape, the floating, the fighting style; it all looks really cool.

Being 10 bucks worries me though as it seems like it will only be 2 hours of cheap fun. Gonna get this day one either way though.

  • PizzicatoSpirit

Oh yeah I forgot about this game. I remember when I first saw the video of this I was wondering if it would ever even come to NA. I’m so psyched this is coming! And 10 bucks is worth it. :)

  • Red Veron

Yes! Totally gonna double dip on this on PS3 and Vita.

  • KyoyaHibari

This game is $10!? That’s like highway robbery on their part. This game looks sick!

  • XiaomuArisu

Holy….So we Europeans got this Jewel months before you?
Why did the US waited so long?

  • Hoshi星

Oh that’s nice. While I enjoyed playing the japanese version, I’ll wait for the localized Vita version  with extra-contents Really a fun yet hard game.

  • Haohmaru HL

wow, us still hasn’t got it?
but it’s sometimes boring and tedious, you run around shooting small enemies while simply running away from the boss on a small arena-like level, then after you gathered some you can make several attacks to the boss after which it’s run and shoot all over again

  • EtherealEarth

So Malicious Rebirth probably will come to the US as well for PSVita?

Hm, I wonder if I should wait for the re-release or simply buy the original . . .

  • YES, patience was really worth it :D
I think I’ll wait for the Vita version though, running out of space on my PS3 and that’s not cool…

  • Hinataharem

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Hmm…. my only question here is whether the Vita version is going to come here or not.T_T

If it is indeed coming, i will just add that one for my to buy list when i get my Vita here rather than buying this on PS3. As this game does looks great there, and being able to use other bosses power like Megaman??? SOLD!!!^^

  • heartless141

people, BUY THIS! BUY THE SMOKES OUTTA IT! tell your parents to buy it, if they don’t have a Ps3, buy them one so they can buy this, make multiple account and buy this.
which is not what i did, but totally would.  got the japanese version. best money i’ve ever spent.
