Story mode is the main mode of Persona 4 Arena. Select this to find out what happened to the Investigation Team Persona 4 and why Mitsuru is visiting Inaba. The console version only has a few characters available from the beginning with the Persona 3 fighters initially locked.

Arc System Works designed Persona 4 Arena and some mechanics will be familiar to BlazBlue players. Need to learn the basics? That’s what Lesson Mode is for.

This game is probably gonna spoil a lot of things from Persona 4, right?

I haven’t played that game yet (I’m currently trying to get through Persona 3), so I’m just wondering.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Dylan-Ng/100000854638739 Dylan Ng

Its bound to hv spoilers……. Its a sequel of P3 & 4 after all. Whether or not you want play it be4 fin 3 & 4 is your wish.

    • Victoria [Rokuso3]

P4Arena is a sequel to P4 story, so yes, many spoilers. Probably P3 spoilers too, so try to avoid it until you beat them!

      • Niveous

Actually, they tried to cut back on P4 spoilers knowing that there’d be people who played Arena first.  So, for example, it won’t tell you the solution to P4′s mystery.  I guess you’ll know that some people make it through the first game, but personally I don’t think that’s enough to ruin it…
Well, actually, you’d have everyone’s Shadows spoiled, so perhaps not.

    • MCoelho

Yes, the game is set 3 months (i think) after Persona 4, heck, even one of these screenshots spoils P4. Play P4 before touching this game’s story mode.

  • MrKappa

    Menus never looked so good.

Glad to hear the Challenge mode is as present as ever. :D While DustLoop is still the goto for advanced play, you still have a fair bit of time before higher play is discovered by well, the players. Having challenge mode means I’ll be up-to-speed and ready to hopefully take home the prize at a local P4A tourney at the end of August! ^^

  • Niermyico

Oh boy, as newbie as myself in the fighting genre, those challenges are looking too impossible for me. :(

    • Dynami

The timing will be pretty lax, it’ll just be a matter of breaking those long sequences down into pieces and putting them all together !!

  • MCoelho

“The console version only has a few characters available from the beginning with the Persona 3 fighters initially locked.”

You mean i can unlock characters WITHOUT PAYING FOR THEM!? Wow that’s awesome!!

Going to get the platinum for this game, playing thorugh Score Attack with all characters and clearing all the challenges is going to be hard though.

  • MrJechgo

    *Sees the challenges*
    *Face turns pale*

Oooooooooooh boy, this is not gonna be fun to do…

  • DongT

    mmm looks so sexy :D
dont know how i’ll keep myself sane for 2 more weeks…

  • Dynami

Gonna need a list of those title components ASAP. Can’t wait to groan at whatever the worst PSN can come up with is.

My stomach churned after looking at the challenges.

    • MrJechgo

Glad I’m not the only one…

I’d like to know how do they come up with these challenges, because I swear that 90% of them are useless in multiplayer.

      • http://myfigurecollection.net/collection/ashgail Ashgail

Not exactly. A lot of the challenges in Blazblue are actually very useful and it teaches quite a lot about the potential of your chosen character. God knows how much I learned about Lambda after doing most of her challenges. The only game which has useless challenges that I know is SF4. They’re a nice distraction, but impractical combos.

        • Valkenhayn

I’m really glad that BB’s challenges were useful, especially teaching commands I didn’t know existed like foward after D with Tap will cause her to do a flip, and find other gimmicks, etc.

        • Code

          I find usually they have useful chunks, or have like finer elements that you can draw from them that are useful. Like certain moves can be linked into other moves. But the combos as a whole I feel are usually too convoluted and at least at my skill level >__33<;; But then again you seem to be on the up&up for your SF, so I imagine you probably breezed through them oAo;;

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_WPGDGULMOAZSIEIA5Y4BEHL6JU wtfhappenedtoallthenames

Challenges should do no more than teach your character’s move set as well as basic combinations. I think any more than that would be spoon feeding. People should find/make/learn their own strings as opposed to waiting for someone else to hand it to you or stalking youtube. That being said, my P4 should be here tomorrow morning! Rawr!

         lol netplay warriors

  • Mnstrzero00

“console version” so this is going to be on PSN?!

    • Zeik56

Console version as opposed to the arcade version.

      No PSN release planned.

  • OatMatadoQuatro

I was happy when I read “score mode”, then I realized it said “score attack mode” xp

  • akeboshi

I know what my title is gonna be.

  • neetyneety

Ooohh, challenges~! I loved the inclusion of these in Blazblue; they provided a hearty… uhh… challenge, while acting as a tutorial of sorts for people who wanted to truly master their characters.
