God Eater 2 Lives Too, Still On Track For 2012

By Spencer . July 24, 2012 . 12:48am

imageThere’s an update about God Eater 2 in this week’s magazine leak round up confirming the game will make it out in 2012 as a PSP title.

News is vague, but God Eater 2 will have 100 different kinds of Blood Arts, a type of special attack. Shift, the game’s developer, enhanced the NPC characters, made a still secret multiplayer experience, and have a big surprise to reveal.

Images and character illustrations for God Eater 2 should come out soon along with the news report. D3Publisher, a subsidiary of Namco Bandai Games, released Gods Eater Burst for PSP last year.

    Uh wow…

    I almost forgot this…

    LoL…

Well…I wonder what the secret is….

    • SlashZaku

      Enhanced Vita version announced?

EDIT: Or maybe an anime adaptation to go alongside this?

    • MINT_FanFan

Secret: It wont go to US.

  • Solomon_Kano

I look forward to actually seeing something of this. I forgot that they’d only shown a cinematic before, so hopefully we’ll see the game in action come TGS.

  • Unknown

    surprise… vita release as well?

  • harmonyworld

I know it’s a survival game but….um…it’d be nice to have a level up system….
I loved the first game, but I gave up playing because I suck at strategy and I get owned a lot.

    • Anon_

So basically you want them to change th type of game because you “suck”? lol
      not happening..

I wasnt into this type of game too, till I meet god eater~
at the beginning I sucked big time… but like almost everything, “practice makes perfect” ;)

After finishing God Eater I moved to th Monster Hunter series, very similar gameplay.

    • LynxAmali

       Uh…
There is a level up system.

      It’s called “Upgrades” and “Ranks.”

  • Syn

I just hope they have a ton more Aragami this time around, I honestly hated fighting the same Aragami with different colors and textures

  • Z3

I hope we get something like a bird aragami or something

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Dylan-Ng/100000854638739 Dylan Ng

Chi You?? Or u want real bird??

  • epy

Hope it goes back to the style of the first game. I wasn’t a big fan of the new direction.

  • http://strictlyapathy.comoj.com/ SoulArbiter

Vague news, aye? Keeping this one close to the chest still. I’m really looking forward to what they make of this installment.

  • Abhishek Posooa

I hope that the gameplay is more varied, and I also wish that there will be qte killing for huge aragamis :D

    • AzuNo17

I sure hoping for QTEs was a joke :) the cutscene’s just need to get improved.

  • Code

    God Eater was alright, not as good as MH though in my opinion. It was a little too repetitive in the long term, and the mechanics could use some additional tightening. But for only having 2 games in the series was in pretty good shape, and give it a few games I figure it’ll get those mechanics leveled out. I’d probably check out trailers but if it looks decent I’d probably give it another shot owo;

    • ZEROthefirst

Is GE as good as MH in the long run, no. To say it’s more repetitive than MH is pretty funny though. They’re almost the same thing, with GE being a lot more fast paced and not much content while MH being very slow and depending on which title a good amount of content (P3rd being a joke on difficulty and somehow manages to make itself easier than GE with highly customized bullets). I love playing MH, but farming gets so annoying when it comes to high rank equipment, as you’ll have to do dozens of runs to hope you “might” find whatever it is you’re looking for. That’s my opinion though.

      • Code

It’s more repetitive mostly because smaller selection of bosses, and more focus on simply having various element bosses then dramatically changing up how one must approach them, or what you can get from them (way more recycled models than MH). By comparison moving up from Plus to G in MH tends to feel a lot more fresh then fighting your fourth version of Quadriga >3<;; Like I said though it's not a big deal, it's only the second game, and for what it is, they did excellent uwu~

Both games are very repetitive, it's part of the nature of these kind of games. GE does have easier drops, but the gameplay itself is more repetitive, because they don't present you with fresh items, bosses, challenges as often. And yeah MH3P was definitely a set back for content and challenge, which is kind of a shame, since it was a beautiful looking game, and has a lot of things I love T3T;; But yeah without challenge, you’ve removed MH’s biggest selling point imo~

    • LynxAmali

But you know what GE has that MH doesn’t have?

      A mildly interesting plot.

That is, unless a Monster Hunter game had a plot. One which I probably haven’t played then.

      • Code

        But Monster Hunter isn’t really meant to have a plot >w<;; It's something that works for GE for the most part, and it's a really nice way of standing out from MH formula owo; But for MH it really isn't needed o3o;

  • AzuNo17

I don’t get all the frustration I’m hearing. This is game is miles easier if you guys actually used the bullet customization and carefully read the weaknesses of each aragami. also not cheaping out on equipment makes so much easier. There’s also the Special Bullet Burst passing (w/e it’s called) and the different types of attacks, such as sunder, pierce and crush (+ the elemental stats).

I’m saying this since I’ve been on my second playthrough and actually getting deep into the mechanics makes this game (more) fun and rewarding. that’s not to say i didnt have fun in my first playthrough but i ended up copying bullet formulas online (which in the end inspired me to play the game again my own way).

there’s skills, upgrades and a job-like system too (where you buy specific upgrades that follow your play style)

but going back on what i said earlier bullet customization makes a huge chunk of this game and i can’t wait to see what direction it’ll take on the next game.

  • xavier axol

if i have to guess, it would caming to the ps vita and the 3ds. but it would be mind blowing if it comes to consels ( just a wishful thinking).

    • shuratan

It’s already announced for the PSP, but of course it will be possible to buy it as a PSN download for the PS Vita (Jpn network of course). And if it gets popular enough, maybe they might even think about a HD console port like some other psp games have gotten. Anyways glad to see GE2 is still coming out 2012! Simply cannot wait.

  • PS Vita Roundup

I’ve found the text of the interview (no pics yet), auto-translated here, http://psp2roundup.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/god-eater-2-rises-in-japan.html

Big surprise???? Retuurning charac? New Aragami?? GE the ANIME BY ufotable!????

  • XiaomuArisu

    GE2 still has a self-made pc,right?
The burst storyline showed us that they can make the hero important,so I hope it comes back.

  • CasualGamer

Can’t wait for God Eater 3 cause this one has no chance in hell to get localized. Funny coincidence, Fear Factory has a song titled “God Eater” in their latest album. I wonder if there’s any relation.

  • Darkrise

I know this is off topic but I wonder if we’ll ever hear a localization of Onechanbara Z Kagura from D3.

  • aoihana

I haven’t played God Eater, but I hear good things! Glad to know a sequel will be waiting for me when I finally get around to it! (◕‿◕✿)

    • ShawnOtakuSomething

      play it

    • neogeno

       Play it now….

      I’ll wait here.

    • Kyle D. Johnson

Definitely play it. It’s like a much more fast-paced action oriented Monster Hunter. That and the bullet customization system is AMAZING. It’s really free-form, you can make bullets that do all kinds of crazy stuff.

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

hmmmm I’m looking for it to come to the states……….

  • AoNoise

Let the big surprise be that it is getting localized.

    Pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease…

  • sherimae1324

im glad I still have my PSP tee-hee ^_^

  • http://dyiele.wordpress.com/ Penguins Can Fly

secret multiplayer experience? i wish it would be the one i wanted in geb: VERSUS! not some kind of 1st-to-kill-aragami-versus but more like, whack each other using their god eaters :D

surprise? let it be localization. nothing else, no questions asked, nuff said. bow.

  • Abel.exe

    >secret multiplayer experience

I hope it is a infrastucture mode or something
