i’m sooo exciting!!! (*#*)/ ahhhhh!!! yes!!! give it to me baby!!!, i wil take the download version.

  • Testsubject909

I already have my pre-order. Just waiting for it to come.

  • I must get this.

  • wfgodbold

Any idea on how long SCEA will take to get it working with the Vita?

    • JazzyMan123

Maybe a month, give or take.

      • wfgodbold

Surprisingly, according to posters at NeoGAF, it’s playable on the Vita now.

You do have to transfer it from a PS3, though, since it’s not in the Vita store for some reason. But that’s better than anyone expected.

  • Ladius

I preordered my copies long ago, regardless of all the recent debates surrounding Atlus I’m really grateful to their American branch for picking up this game and I really hope every jrpg fan out there gives it a chance :)

    • Covnam

Debates relating to this game or in general?

I picked up Growlanser Generations a short time ago, so I’ll have to keep an eye on this one as well.

      • DaveyD

I assume Ladius refers mostly to the controversy surrounding Atlus’s decision to region lock Persona 4 Arena…  It kind of sucks, but personally I never cared about P4A to begin with.

    • JazzyMan123

Yo Ladius, don’t mean to sound pessimistic here, but think this might be one of the last PSP games (alongside RT and BRS) coming out for NA period? I mean nothing else has been announced and stuff. Just throwing this out there, though I am usually always wrong.

      • cj_iwakura

I would be okay with this being the last one. Great send-off.

  • Pre-Ordered excitemeeeent!! Counting down the days (✿❛◡❛)ノ I don’t even care that this also counts down my little break form studying. My excitement is at too high a level to care!

  • ragnarok989

Totally buying this game the first day that it works on the Vita (which could be a month or two judging by how long Gungnir took)

  • IsaacGravity

Pre-ordered mine months ago and have been eagerly waiting ever since. In one week that wait will finally come to an end…

    Can’t wait~

  • James Smith

Sony doesn’t joke when it talks about making systems for long marathons.

  • AlteisenX

Cannot wait for this. I missed my chance with the PS2 ones and they’re rare/expensive from what I find so this will be nice to see if I would enjoy the series or not and if it’s worth purchasing.

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

I really only can hope that this will do well here as, if this one does not sell well, i kinda had the feeling that the new Growlancer series will never come out of Japan anymore.T_T

    • Ladius

Growlanser is in a difficult position in the Japanese market, too: we
haven’t had a new entry in the series since the PS2 days, and dwindling
sales could very well spell doom for the franchise considering Index’s
attitude… I really hope we get to see a Growlanser 7 in the future, as
low budget as it could be.

  • Daniel Morandi

Im going to buy this game, sadly I couldn’t pre-order them but Im going to buy a copy that’s for sure. The game deserve it.

  • l777l

    UMD version.

  • brian yep

    Originally released on PSP?
I guess this version was, but originally this game was on PS2.

  • Haven’t ever played a Growlanser title. Perhaps this one would be a good place to start.

    • Ladius

It is a completely stand-alone experience in terms of narrative and it has the best battle system in the series while also sporting the highest level of contents and depth, so I think it’s definitely a great entry point for those who never played a Growlanser game :)

  • This game…
    It has 40 endings right??

    • From what I heard there are three path,
original, modified and du-something + 40 endings (character endings)

  • Still waiting for Growlanser VI and see what happen to Haschen, but I’ll take what I can get.

    • cj_iwakura

This is infinitely better than VI.

      • Maybe so, but V was one of my favorite games on the PS2 so I would love to see the continuation of the story. So I’m a little biased on that part.

    • Testsubject909

Quick! To the Hyperbolic Time Chamber!

      • Crimson_Cloud

Even that won’t prepare you for this game. ^^

  • DaveyD

Best RPG series of all time.  I hope it sells well enough to get us Growlanser I in English whether on UMD or PSN, I’ll take it.

  • Clifford Michael

I hope Atlus makes sure we Faithful can play this on our Vitas at launch…

    • JazzyMan123

That’s up to SCEA, not Atlus.

      • GibbRS

Indeed, I hope Sony comes through with this one.  They dropped the ball on the last 2 PSP games I wanted to play on my Vita, and I won’t be getting this game either unless it’s Vita compatible.

        • Clifford Michael

RIGHT? Was so looking forward to Gungnir and UCB.

          • DaveyD

Gungnir is supposed to be up on Vita Store by August 7th…  So I imagine Growlanser will take 4-6 weeks or so… Hopefully sooner.

  • Kevin Lor

So close yet so far! I better hurry up and finish with my other games

  • Been eager to get this one as well. Only a little while longer!

  • Z3

Europe, WHY U GET NO LOVE?!?!?!

    • JazzyMan123

C’mon, you can still import. :)

      • Z3

Could you please give me some website?
I usually go on Zavvi but no Growlanser over there
Amazon doesn’t work because of the EU restrictions (DAMMIT!)

        • JazzyMan123

You could give Play-Asia a shot.

        • cj_iwakura

-1. Find a friend in the US
-2. Have them buy it & send it to you
          -3. ???
          -4. Profit!

          • Crimson_Cloud

Finding a friend is a lot harder then importing :p

        • Ladius

is a fantastic site for European importers, also Tronixweb.

        • DaveyD

CDUniverse, GamesGreed, Gamestop, VGP, VideoGamesCentral, and eStarland will all ship to basically any country.

  • Funny thing that happened at work regarding this game.
Me: “Hey, I’m going to come in early on the 31st so I can leave early.”
Cool Manager: “No problem. What’s the occasion?”
    Me: “Growlanser release date.”
    Cool Manage: “Awesome!”

    •  So your Manager loves Growlanser too? XD

  • Crimson_Cloud

Why wasn’t this game promoted more? I see a lot of ”WTF is this!?” signs in the comments on other websites. It’s a shame if this game doesn’t’ sell well, it’s beyond epic.

    • SerendipityX

Derp. I totally forgot about this until I noticed that Gungnir had dropped to 19.99 at Amazon(backordered) and Gamestop. Then I was like “wasn’t there some other PSP that coming out alongside Gungnir?” ._.

  • DDanny

Hmm… the whole multiple branches and endings things is what got me hooked, that and the art from that Langrisser artist.
I wonder, are the branches actually significant like in Der Langrisser or will they eventually lead to the same stages with just different endings and slightly different events?
For example, there seems to be a human vs angels conflict going on, can mc actually join with the angels faction?

    • DaveyD

As I understand it there’s 3 main story branches:

Here’s a quote from someone on Gamefaqs who played the JP version
“There are 46 endings. 25 are character endings from the improved route, 1 bad ending. 14 endings are character endings from the old route. Rest 6 are almost unique endingsfrom the “NG+” route. The NG+ route is very different from the routes you can access on your first play so it makes NG+ definitely worth playing along with seeing different fates of characters from your first play. I did few of the character endings and to be honest the only difference was few lines of dialogue in the same place spoken by a different person. The sidequests and events that lead into each character’s ending have a lot more material in them though and it’s not like you can finish them all at once considering how many characters there are.
Which character ending you can get depend on how you progress on character sidequests. Character sidequests are a big part of the game and they mainly progress by interacting with the characters during holidays which is somewhat similar to Persona 3, although done a lot better and are generally a lot more interesting.”
